Lost in combustion
I am walking through the city in the evening, taking in the quickly moving formations of people and checking homeless men’s earnings of the day unconsciously. Sudden sensations of grounding and overview leak into me as I stop to wait for my ride home. Another after another - ideas that can only be fully realized and harvested after proper time is spent sitting on them. I speak ancient egyptian in my mind, but can’t vocalize. I see into the future, I understand the importance of timing. Yet I try to ingest the idea immediately.
I share a precious moment with nature - I see a pigeon warily choosing his steps and a place to dispose of his waste, quickly taking off after. I am gasping from the sharply penetrating crispy air overrunning my cavities. Another after another - elusive and unpredictable gusts of wind force me to inhale more and more. I am burning inside and the sensation feels familiar. The suffocating waves leave me and regain occupance in the lungs of the girl to my right and the saturnian, incomprehensible clarity moves on to play her game with a boy across the road. Even though I feel momentary frustration out of my loss and my inability to grasp her first, I know this - she will visit again and I will finally understand her.
