But... it's also very in character and in keeping with both of their attitudes. They're accepting and making this bet for vastly different reasons.

Pran is making sure he has an out. He knows this can't work, he knows his feelings are hopeless, that his family will never accept, that they absolutely cannot do this. But he wants this so badly, he wants it with all his heart and soul.

So he'll try.

He'll make the bet and he'll 'win' the bet when he needs to find a way out.

Pat just desperately wants an in. He's been trying to get in this entire time, to find a spot beside Pran, to make their friendship work. He's always extending a hand in desperation and want and he has never been able to let go.

He'll make the bet and he already knows that Pran loves him and he'll use the bet to get them close enough that nothing will stop them.
