“Oh, well, if he had tried to start something, I would have saved you.” She hit his shoulder lightly. “I’m glad you’re willing to go to another one because you’re paying for me after that hit.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I should have looked where I was going. Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Both? I think.” She laughed. She moved his hand off her back and interlocked their fingers. “Where were you in a rush to by the way?”
“Just away. A large guy with a Ducks shirt recognized me inside the Starbucks and he looked angry. And I wasn’t about to fucking deal with that. So let’s go to another Starbucks?”
“Guess so.” She answered, meaning for it to sound like a joke. “It’s really okay. I haven’t fallen in quite awhile, was starting to wonder when it was going to happen again.” Kendall added, consoling him.
“You fall a lot? That’s not good.” His brow furrows.
Rowan laughed when he covered her mouth and moved his hand. “I will fight you if you ever do that again.” She shook her head. “Babe, I’m fine, stop checking me.”
“Stop checking you or stop checking you?” he smirks a little bit at his stupid hockey joke. With a hand on her back, he ushers her down the sidewalk and away from the Starbucks.
Rowan hit the ground with a thud, “Hey, watch it, ass-.” She stopped when she saw that it was Augustus. A huge smile appeared on her face. “Oh my god! You’re the Augustus Milano! Oh my god! Can I have your autograph?” She yelled, excitedly.
Augustus sighs and tries to come off as angry to hide his embarrassment as people look in their direction. “Stop,” he hisses as he covers her mouth with his hand. He studies her for injuries.
“What the fuck?!” Was all Cassie had managed out by the time she hit the ground, glaring up at the person who caused her to end up there. Jaw jutted outwards, she allowed him to help her up, and brushed herself off before once again looking at the male with a slight fire in her eyes. “Maybe you should try watching where the hell you’re going next time.”
He frowns angrily at her and quickly lets go of her hand. “I said I was sorry.”
“I’ve got the tiniest scratch on my elbow but yes, I’m fine.” She responded, offering him a reassuring smile to demonstrate that she was okay. “You’re like… really strong.”
“Uh, yeah. Thank you. Sometimes I’m too strong, I guess. I’m sorry,” he repeats and he gestures to where she fell. Then he glances over his shoulder at the Starbucks.
Kendall looked up after the collision to see who had caused her to fall over, seemingly a little ticked off. Upon hearing the man apologize, the brunette felt her expression soften and decided to suck it up. “Hey, don’t worry about it.” She replied, grabbing his hand and getting back on her feet.
He looks her over quickly to make sure he didn’t injure her. “Are you okay?”
Augustus hurries out of a Starbucks and knocks someone on the sidewalk clean off their feet, his excellent bodychecking skills coming into play when he didn’t mean it to. “Fuck. I’m sorry.” He holds out a hand to help them up, while glancing cautiously over his shoulder.
Earplugs in, blasting music loud in the empty laundromat she was sure, completely sure she was alone in. Washing her clothes at midnight was something she was used to, engrossed in the nail-biting chapter of Pet Cemetery. It was always nail biting, even for the hundredth time. Gigi raised her eyes— big mistake. The sight of the other person made her heart pound and she gave a jolt backwards, hitting her pinky toe into the washing machine. “Holy fucking shit,” she was a bit louder than she wanted to. “You don’t sneak up on people. Tap your feet when you walk… or yodel.”
Augustus ditches his friends at a bar around the corner and instead of immediately calling for an Uber, he decides to take a little walk. The vending machine inside the laundromat he almost passes calls to him and he enters the building to stuff some dollars into the machine. When he hears someone yell in surprise, he starts too, not having expecting any noise beside the laundry machines. “Jesus... I wasn’t sneaking up on you.” He gestures to the vending machine.
“Good thing I wasn’t offering to share them.” Jade rolled her eyes, having not expected attitude from the man.
“You’re the one who mentioned it, but yeah, good thing.”
“I’m crappy with starting conversations.. like how crappy your reply was to that. It’s not that easy, why don’t you try it?”
“Okay. What do you think of Auston Matthews?”
“See, that kind of logic is flawed. It’s well within human nature to complain and have an opinion about things that bother them. It’s part of expression. Not to mention the fact that complaining is actually healthy. It’s been proven by science. Also –– you don’t get to tell me what to do. So there’s that.”
“Okay, fine. Complain all you want and see if people enjoy being around you.”
“Pity that. Some people could really use change, but I suppose you’re right. Still sucks though. Guess that won’t change either.”
“Exactly. So there isn’t any use in complaining about it. Just get over it.”
“Is it just me or are my days just getting worse and worse? Yesterday I stepped in dog.. dodoo. Today I walked into a stop sign, like one of those comic relief scenes they put in movies. I should tell you, I don’t think this summer is for me. Maybe it’s true, 2016 is cursed.”
“None of those things sound particularly horrible to me.”
Writing always came easier to her in the great outdoors. Sitting perched on a park bench, Jade’s inspiration was currently coming from a figure she had been eyeing for quite a while now. Luckily, they hadn’t caught her – that is, until they did. “Sorry. I’m a people-watcher,” the blonde explained quickly. “It helps get my creative juices flowing…”
Augustus frowns at her when he notices her watching him wait for his teammate. “I don’t really want to hear about your creative juices.”
