Kaine smiled down at the letter, self-conciously running a hand through her hair for a moment before scribbling down a response for the young girl. It had been ages since she wrote a letter, and her penmanship wasn’t as good as it used to be.

Commentary (translated):

[52] The idea of a sleeping beauty is present from the beginning. It might be possible for her to grow to Kaine proportions?
Just like Kaine, Yonah too lived by herself save for the days where the villagers would take sympathy on her and stay within that lonely house with the lonely girl. What sort of person would let a young girl live all by her lonesome? What terrible parents she must have had. Every so often, when she ventured out of the house to buy food, she’d hear the murmurs of the civilians, talking about her supposed family.
The odd thing was that nobody, not even Yonah herself, remembered ever coming to this village with someone. And if it was believed that a girl of such a frail stature could have made it here all by herself, then she was obviously a lot stronger than others thought.
Today was the day that Yonah would end up going to see the one who had saved her from the clutches of the Shadowlord - That mysterious woman known as Kaine. Yonah liked Kaine a great deal, and not just because she saved her. She was beautiful, strong, fun to be around… Yonah had grown to see her as a sister figure.
"All packed…!" She spoke to herself as she folded the cloth over the supplies she planned to take over there today which included some fresh fruit and veg, some bread and cheese, and some nuts. She even packed her own medicine, just in case anything were to happen and she found herself late coming back home, which she often did. Thankfully, Kaine wouldn’t go hungry again for another night or two. Maybe even more. Yonah would have cooked something but as of late, she had felt weaker than usual. She often wondered how she would make the journey.
But without fail, she had always managed to make it past the dangers of the field to her destination. And this day was no different from the others.
When she entered the area just before where the Aerie used to be, she was greeted with the familiar sights and smells - The smell of Kaine and how she lived her life. It seemed sad really, how she preferred to be alone. But Kaine seemed well enough. Not to mention old enough.
"Hello Kaine!" The young girl would greet the other as she often would. "How are you feeling today? I hope you’re well." Yonah walked over to Kaine’s little area and presented the bag to her filled with supplies. "I brought you some more food. Sorry I didn’t cook anything for you."
Not too much time had passed, and finally she heard the sound of those small, familiar footsteps entering her territory. The woman casually turned her back, to make it look like she hadn't been waiting for Yonah too eagerly. Deep down, she was still a loner. That's what she desperately wanted to believe, even though the girl's visits often made her wonder otherwise.
"Hi Yonah."
Kaine greeted her back, smiling just a little at the girl's concern for her. "I'm fine. Things have been quiet lately around here... To be honest, it's been boring." She chuckled slightly.
"Oh... Thank you." When Yonah presented her with the food, Kaine reached out and took it carefully. She was still sheepish about accepting gifts from her. Yonah was always so kind-- the girl must have been barely scraping by herself, especially with no parents... And yet she always came to her with gifts like these.
"And how about you? How have you been, kid?" Kaine set the bag of food next to her bed. Unable to help herself, she reached in and began helping herself to some of the bread Yonah had brought from her. The food from her village always tasted so good and fresh. Her stomach rumbled in appreciation of the much-anticipated meal.
"You didn't have any trouble on the trip here, did you?" Kaine asked, fully intending to rip off the sexual reproductive organs of anything that dared to disturb Yonah during her daily life.

"It's been too quiet lately. I don't know if I like this. Makes me feel restless."
The young woman was sitting in her small home-- if you could even call it a home. The small hut she'd fashioned into something livable, with only a few personal effects to make it resemble anything close to an abode. Kaine lived alone, in a field, in a most desolate area. There was once a village nearby-- The Aerie, where she grew up. Well... she was born there, at least.
And it was gone now. She couldn't quite remember how it had happened, but the whole village had disappeared.
Good fucking riddance.
Her eyes kept traveling towards the small cavelike opening that led to her little field-living-space... area. She kept wondering-- would she show up today?
She seemed to do this almost every time it was time for the girl to show up. Yonah often visited her. Sometimes she even brought food, or flowers, or anything that the girl found interesting and wanted to share with her. While she always wondered if Yonah would give up on her, the girl did not disappoint-- she continued to visit her. How she made the trip alone every time-- for the girl seemed so... frail... was a mystery to Kaine.
Rather than fight the girl's efforts to become her friend, Kaine grew to... well, she wouldn't say she liked the visits, but she rather looked forward to them. Did that count as liking them? Well.. who cares?
They were... nice.
