does anyone think maybe the Boy (Kevin) and Rodger (Earl Harlan’s son) may have the same origin? I would love for them to talk. I know the implication was Kevin came directly from the Smiling God (though it’s unclear if other doubles share this origin) but the whole deal about Earl having to parent a younger version of himself that just appears out of the ether seems like a very purposeful parallel.

Except, Earl chose to help Rodger develop into his own little person (though we don’t know enough about Earl’s childhood to know they are the same person), while Kevin chose to continue perpetuating the cycle of abuse against himself (he made it very clear he was essentially his own father and he would make the same decisions toward himself that he always did)

I was initially too icked out by the abuse and the idea of Kevin being raised additionally by Charles, the same person that he eventually dates and has a child with, to consider anything else, but the recent mention of Rodger got me thinking. I still hate the Boy’s arc but perhaps there’s more to it than I thought, and it’s not over yet. Even if Kevin is destined to be alone and desolate in the future, some monstrous clicking thing with hundreds of legs and teeth hiding in the walls of his own house (as he’s described his father before), I think the people of Night Vale, especially Tamika would be remiss if they didn’t even try to get him back.

My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

I js wanna say that I don’t really remember my childhood that much so what I’m about to say’s might be when I was 10, like, not that far into my childhood

1. Clarence, my favorite show because I didn’t really have friends much so I didn’t get to go on adventures with my friends so I really wanted to have friendships like Clarence did and I wanted a friend like Sumo that would love me no matter what.

2. I believe I wanted to be a police officer, I was pretty into crimes and stuff like that, I liked to collect toy guns like nerf and such. I’v been considering being a law student since I’m still into crimes but I’ve also thought about game design and game development so I really dk.

3. I adore aging, I think it’s beautiful, never was afraid to turn any age, I’m only sometimes surprised I made it this far.

4. Never was, never will be. I really think it’s stupid being popular in school because then everyone is invested in your drama so one small problem would turn into a whole school situation. I don’t see benefit in it.

1. when i was 3ish all i would watch was tangled and alvin and the chipmunks 2, which was funny because they both have zachary levi in and so does chuck, the show my parents would watch together at the time. i haven't seen tangled in years, but i watched it so much as a kid its pretty much downloaded into my brain. when i got a bit older i became mlp obsessed

2. i really wanted to be a writer for a long time. i haven't really written since i was a kid, but it would be nice to get back into it eventually 😭😭 now, shamefully, all i want is a very normal boring life

3. maybe 18?? being a grownup seems scary. a funnier story is that i was devastated to turn 4, because my favourite numberjack (best tv show ever if you haven't heard of it) was 3 and i wanted to stay the same as her

1. The barbie movies, barbie life in the dreamhouse and totally spies. I remember really liking barney and friends, mickey mouse clubhouse and dora the explorer too. But the longest runners are def the first three lol, I'd still tune into them today.

1. Does Laurel & Hardy count as a show? Apart from that, i watched a lot of Morph, Dr Who, and documentaries on sharks. As for films, i don't think i ever had a specific favourite, but i did have an annoying habit of playing Little Shop of Horrors and Oliver! on repeat and copying all the movements

2. As a kid, i'm pretty sure the only thing i wanted to be when i grew up was a vampire, lmao. Considering that i've become somewhat of a nocturnal recluse, whose only real work experience is cemetery maintenance, i think i've gotten worryingly close to achieving that dream

3. Eh, i never really thought i'd make it to adulthood so every birthday since 18 has felt weird. I guess maybe 30??
