“Not yet.” It hung heavy in the air, less reassuring than it should have been. It wasn’t untrue, Coraline hadn’t dreamed of the Other World since she had arrived, but she didn’t put it past Her to come find her somehow. It was all in her head, right? “I don’t know, I don’t know. I can’t imagine her coming back, I can’t deal with it again.” Silence, and she hated it. “Best case scenario is that we’re safe, both of us, and things can be all normal again, right?”
“Just relax, Jonesy, we’re safe here,” Wybie commented, even though the sound of Coraline’s words had been far from cheerful, leading him to believe she wasn’t too convinced. In cases just like this one, it made him feel slightly useless not knowing how to effectively cheer up a person.
“She won’t get to you, a-and if she ever does, w-we’ll fight her off... or somethin’”, the boy shrugged. Plus, Wybie was a ‘see it to believe it’ kind of guy. “Yeah, we’ll be fine. Things will be all normal and dull again. But, how about we enjoy ourselves in this pretty Cali town for now? It’ll help you get your mind of things.”
