red, don’t you do it. don’t you dare.
What do you say you and I bury the hatchet and have a little... Chit chat?
The singer stiffened a little upon seeing Royce. She hadn’t wanted to see him so soon and not having Boxer close by did make her a bit uneasy. Already she could hear him scolding her for even being near Royce without him. But she put that thought to the back of her mind for the moment. Red had more important things at the moment.
"I might be open up to it," Red said as she crossed her arms across her chest and put her weight onto one leg, "if it is just a simple chat." She could defend herself if she needed to but she didn’t want to resort to that.
"That’d be ideal really, I’m not one to go to pubs very often so I wouldn’t know which would be the best one to sort this all out." He takes a step towards Red and glances around. "We should start moving now, I’d hate to get in trouble for this.. Wouldn’t want Sybil up my neck for meeting up with you..” He laughes, Sybil would kill him for not telling her who he was going to meet with. “She’s very… Finicky when it comes to you.”
Red held back the sigh that wanted to escape as she nodded her head to show that she understood. Fortunately she knew of a pub that they could go to where there would be people but not many. It was one she and Boxer had visited a few times after one of her shows. Jerking her head to the side, she began to walk in the direction of the pub; under the impression that Royce would follow her. “I know someone else who can be like that,” she muttered. “I’ll handle Sybil if she catches wind of this, don’t worry.” It had been awhile since she had seen Sybil and to say that she was a little worried about her friend would be an understatement.
Tell me would you kill to save a life? Tell me would you kill to prove you’re right?

I just had to get a recording of this part because it’s one of my favorite lines and scenes from this game LISTEN TO HIS SHATTERED AND CONCERNED VOICE. I apologize for the loud music at the beginning (I actually have it turned down halfway but his voice was just really quiet until I got closer so I’ll transcribe the beginning).
Also, there’s an added bonus of Transistor in the beginning commenting on how amazing Red is while singing as well as hearing Sibyl sing “We All Become One” :’).
((OBVIOUSLY SPOILERS BELOW AND SAME WITH THE TRACK))

…I’m so sorry Red. They took your voice. I couldn’t stop them. Well we took something of theirs. Hey let’s just go. C’mon just go. Just…yeah.
As it was a desire of his to be able to see her face to face; not just to feel her and know what was going on; to sense and talk with her – it was a horrible feeling at first being there in the country on his own without her. He needed her, he needed to see her and hold her. Red didn’t understand just how much she meant to him before he had been processed. Before he had technically. He remembered saving her life. It was something that he didn’t have to think twice about.
As a bodyguard he had been trained to take the bullet, or whatever blow, his charge would otherwise take. When the transistor went towards Red and he saw it happening he didn’t think twice, he just shoved her out of the way and took the blow. It was over before he realised; he didn’t get the chance to check if Red was alright; to know that he had saved her. To see her face, to hear her voice – just to know he had did his job. If he had to think about it, know that he had the choice not to do it – he still would have. Not because he was her bodyguard – but because he loved her. And he had told her. He had told her when he was in the transistor conversing with her and telling her how proud he was of her. He loved her, and it hurt that he hadn’t exactly said it face to face so that she would have seen him say it, feel him say it. And he wanted so much to hear her say it too – and he knew that without her voice that she wouldn’t have been able to say it. Now, in the country; her processed too; and the relief that washed over Boxer and to be able to look at her and see her right there. That was enough. He could see when he looked at her that she loved him too. {… Hey.} He wasn’t an emotional guy – not really. Boxer knew that he had been pleading with her and begging her not to do it. Not to take her own life and process herself into the transistor with him. But, he normally wouldn’t have been overwhelmed with emotions – but this time he couldn’t help it. He could see the tears rimming her eyes, threatening to fall – and perhaps the cloudy view of his sight was his own tears. He was trying not to, he didn’t want to be seen as weak. After all they had been through, neither of them were weak. Hearing her voice – seeing her speak – her. It was real; all real. As real as it could have been, as real as it was in Cloudbank before everything that had happened. He knew that he was where he belonged, he had everything he needed. She was there, they were safe. Looking down at her hands, he smiled as he tightened the grip on his fingers. Moving a little, he took her hand properly. Leaning forward, he gave a small chuckle, “Don’t,” It was a hushed whisper, trying to lighten the mood, “You’ll make me start.” But, really, he wouldn’t blame her for crying – and he wouldn’t blame himself; as much as he didn’t want to cry, it was going to happen eventually. He moved his free hand and placed it to the side of her head. His fingers thread through the light curls of red that sprung next to her face. She was gorgeous. Boxer missed it. He didn’t think he would ever be able to touch her again. And there he was. He was touching her. He didn’t know if they were real, being in the transistor he certainly didn’t feel real. But, now? He felt like he was. She felt real, he felt the need to wrap an arm around her, pull her close and just hold her. Smiling, properly, he looked at the beautiful fighter and then leaned in until their lips touched. It was one of the things he had wanted to do again, from the first time they had kissed. The first time was chaste, almost accidental – he didn’t know how she would have taken it. But now, he knew that he loved her, had told her – and when he kissed her it was like two pieces of a jigsaw finally together. Like they belonged together.
She was still an open book to him. He picked up on the slightest movement or hint of a feeling from and knew instantly what she was feeling. He even had the nerve to tease her about it. Here she was, on the verge of getting emotional- something that rarely happened with her- because she finally had everything she had wanted and he was teasing her. She was so choked up that she couldn't even form the words to scold him for it either. Red hated that part the most but there was little she could about it right then. Though the thought of putting him to the test did cross her mind.
She jumped a little when she felt his hand cup one side of her face and gently touched her hair. Even though she had been holding his hand it didn't register in her head that she could actually touch and feel him physically. But it registered now. His touch was warm, just has she had hoped it would be when she last touched his physical body, and the way he touched her hair was calming even if tears continued to threaten to roll down her cheeks. Red would even argue that this simple touch of his made her feel all the love he had for her.
Of course she had known it was there long before now. Before he had admitted it when she was fighting her way through Cloudbank. The night of their first accidental kiss was when she first learned that there was soemthing between them. But Red didn't know what it was at the time. She had felt a pull towards him but she was still afraid to let him in like that. She was good with words, it had always been a skill of hers, but whenever she thought about her feelings that involved him it didn't seem to matter. The words never came to her and she was always left searching for them. It wasn't until she spent those few days without her voice did she come to understand what they were. And back then she thought it was too late for her to say them.
Yet again he took her by surprise. But this time she knows how to respond. Thinking a little bit more on it, Red was happy that he had started off with a kiss instead of saying how he was feeling. She still felt as if there was a frog in her throat- which was one of the most uncomfortable feelings she had ever felt- and if he had said once again how he loved her then she wanted to return his words with her own. She wanted to do that with every chance she was given. He deserved to know how much she loved and appreciated him and she wasn't about to let another second past without him knowing that. It was her own secret vow. Now that she could speak and would spend the rest of her days here with him then she would keep it.
However, she had to do something else first. Savoiring the feeling of just his lips pressing against hers for another second, Red returned the kiss by leaning up into it a little. She had loved and hated how much taller than her he was. It helped her hide from fans at times since no one but her seemed to notice him. But it made doing things like this difficult. It was something she would have to scold him about later. As her lips continued to press into his, she felt the tears she had been hold back break free and began to roll down her cheeks. Her arms then lifted and wrapped around his neck as she made him bend a little more towards her. She wanted nothing more than to feel him pressed against her with his arms wrapped around her.
In the back of her mind she hoped that he was reading her correctly right then. She wanted him to know that she was there to stay and be his. Because, after all, actions spoke louder than words at times.

Red, hey. What are you doing? Wait. Wait, wait, wh-what are doing? Red. Don’t you do it. Don’t you dare. Don’t do this. Please. If you do this. Red, please don’t. Wait. Red.
It was pure desperation at the time. Red was alive; he had sacrificed himself to save her life, and he would have done it again in a heartbeat. As long as she was alright, that was all that mattered to Boxer – nothing else. He didn’t care if he lived or not. He had been processed, but he could still converse with her, in his own way. Even if he couldn’t hear her talk back. But, to know she was going to take her own life. After all that she had gone through. Either Red just had given up, or she had enough. Cloudbank was gone, there was no one there. Just her, alone. And as much as Boxer hated the idea of her being alone. Actually, no, he didn’t know what he thought – or what he would have done to stop her. He couldn’t have stopped her. But that didn’t mean that he didn’t care. But, still all he could do was mutter no. {Think I’ll go where it suits me, moving out to the country, with everyone, oh, everyone.} And, if he wasn’t to know any better, he could hear her. She was laughing. Boxer opened his eyes, the Hell that they had endured due to the process over. Everything they had come to know and suffer through was gone. And, all he could see was… Her. He breathed out and just looked at her. Together at least, he had her back – just like he had wanted. In the country; heh, and here he thought that was just a sappy old saying for when you were dead. Well, he guessed technically it was. ‘But, well, what did you know, Red? You were right. Your song was right.’ Still, she took his breath away. Standing there beautiful, almost restored – happy. Smiling. Was it because she had finally succeeded, or because she was back with him? He didn’t know, he didn’t care – all he could breathe out was. “Hi.”
His voice still rang loudly within her mind. His voice begging her not to do it. But what else could she do? Just thinking about staying there, a place she had once viewed as home, with only herself for company...That make it feel like home anymore. Even if she had his voice there were other things she was lacking. Her own voice for one. He could talk to her but there was barely any way she could talk back to him. Red could type up whatever she wanted if she got a terminal but she wanted other forms of communication and making humming sounds at him didn't cut it. Then she would ultimately be alone. No one was there to sit with her and share a meal with.
Processing herself, like what should have happened if he hadn't pushed her out of the way and got processed himself, was the only way out. From what he had said, she believed that at least she could talk to him again. Then going to the country with Royce and fighting him there made her think that there was possibly more. Then she remembered something he had said to her once. How he wanted to see her face to face again. That was a desire of her own. When they had passed by the place where his body once was she had hoped to see it. After her fight with Royce and she made his body reappear, Red knew that this decision of hers was the one she wanted. Seeing his face and being able to talk to him again...Having her friend again...She would give anything for that. And she couldn't think of a way then the one presented to her.
She didn't know how the whole processing thing would work. She half expected it just to plop her somewhere, with no voice, and no sense where to go. She remembered seeing buildings when she fought Royce. At that time Red had even thought of maybe hiding in to by her a moment to think while she fought him. But she never went through on that plan. And it was the last thing on her mind. The first thought was where she could find Boxer and if she would have her voice back.
When she opened her eyes the next time and came face to face with him, she could only stare at him for a moment. It seemed so unreal to her. Before he had been slumped against a wall, his head bowed so she couldn't see his face, and there was no heat come from his body when she rested her head on his shoulder. Now, he was standing before her as if none of that had happened. He looked the exact same as he had on that night. It didn't take another second for Red to begin to smile at him. Even if she didn't have her voice this would be enough for her. She had all she needed now and just having her voice would just be the cherry on top.
Gently gripping his fingers with her hand, she tried her best to hold back the tears that were beginning to rim her eyes. "...Hey," she said softly, not sure if any words would even come out. When she actually said something her smile grew, her grip tightened, and the feeling to cry grew enough that her lip quivered a little to show it.
A groan passed his lips, unsavoury and showing his disinterest in having to spend more time with Sybil. He knew that she always seemed to be glowering and throwing daggers when he was around. The younger girl had always tried to get Red on her own and Boxer out of the picture. It wasn’t always that difficult for them either – Sybil always saying that she didn’t need protection because she had her around – and Boxer not really able to say that Red didn’t need him simply for that; or else they’d let the cat out of the bag.
“I know you’d be as happy about that as I would,” And not just because it would bring up questions as to why they were sharing food alone in her dressing room and he wasn’t outside guarding the door. “Besides, some peace and quiet isn’t a bad thing. I say after this we bail on the after party and head back to your apartment.” His one wasn’t that impressive, it was just a small dingy thing that he got to live in because he didn’t feel like he had to pay out a lot of money for living accommodations he would hardly be in. Being Red’s bodyguard was nearly almost a full-time job. It also wasn’t like he got a big pay check every month. He rolled his eyes, internally thinking 'perish the thought' when it came to Red showing him another unpretty sight. The time that they had spent together and started to get close was something that was interesting to Boxer. He hadn’t thought that Red would ever return the feelings that were developing between them and when she was and they stole that kiss outside of the box office the first time. Yes, things were going slowly, and he was completely fine with that. It had to – for the sake of her career and, well, everything. As fast paced as this world they lived in was, he just found comfort and peace in knowing that there were some things that he could count on being calm and steady. “Can’t say I look forward to tomorrow.” Being around a celebrity had its perks; but it was also exhausting. “Don’t know about you, but I’m dead on my feet.”
"Aw Blue, don't sound too sad about her not being here," Red teased before taking another slice of pizza and eating it. But it was simply that- a tease. "I know, I can call her up and tell her to meet us at that party." Not that she was in the mood for partying. Whenever Sybil was around her friend tended to drag her, and ninty-five percent of the time Boxer, to the after party to celebrate another sold out performance of hers. Sometimes Sybil succeeded in getting Boxer to stay behind but Red knew he always close by. Either he would somehow make his way into the party without Sybil knowing or even finding him or he stayed hidden outisde waiting for her to leave so he could escort her home. Either way Sybil never truly succeeding in losing her bodyguard as she seemed to think.
But she gave him a gentle smile when he complained about tomorrow and being tired. She knew he took his job seriously and she was nothing but appreciative for his hard work. In fact if it wasn't for him becoming her bodyguard then she doubted she would have even gotten the courage to go back into the spotlight. Just knowing that he was there and watching out for her, ready to jump to her aid if she ever needed him, helped ease her fears of getitng up on stage and doing what she loved. It was even coming to the point that Red was beginning to believe that her feelings for him were developing into something more but she wasn't certain.
Finishing off her new slice of pizza, she put her salad away and close the pizza box as she stood up. "We don't have to go to the party. But you're going to celebrate with me instead." Back at her appartment, or his if he really wanted to have it there, so he could relax and she could still have some company for the remainder of the night. "Come on, we can go back to my place and finish off this pizza. Maybe even buy another if you're still hungry." Since she had been the one to eat the majority of it and she knew it was his favorite. Packing the two boxes away and putting on her coat, Red extended her hand towards him still with smile on her face.

"Oh well.." His voice trails off, he himself hadn’t thought about where he would take Red if she were to actually agree. "Do you think maybe somewhere near your studio? people around here to tend to like music after all… Maybe a pub? It’s up to you really." He sounds unsure of himself, maybe he should’ve spent more time wandering Cloudbank than cramped up in his lair of a study. "Really anywhere will do, I’d just hate
to make you feel uncomfortable is all.. Wouldn’t want an accident would we?” His smile is almost disturbing now.
Of course it was going to be up to her to decide. A normal person might have been fine with that but for Red it was making her a bit more edge. She was beginning to question herself on agreeing to this talk. “A pub is fine.” Her lips pursed the moment he mentioned not wanting an accident. She couldn’t help but think there was some hidden second meaning to what he said. His smile didn’t help her feel any better either. “Let me guess, I have to decide on the pub too.”
Part of Boxer really just wanted to get out of the dressing room and head to Red’s apartment, or his apartment. He barely had his apartment long – having moved there to get closure to her. It started off for the job, but then it became more of a intimate thing. Still, it had to be easier to themselves in the comfort of their down rooms than in the dressing room with buzzing attention outside. And cameras.
“I know you can,” He smiled. It was a genuine smile, he knew that Red could feed herself – and take care of herself. She was strong and he believed in her. She had went through a lot after what happened in that performance. She could have easily had decided to quit singing and just give up. But, she was stronger than that and proved it. Even though she worked mostly in privacy for the time since, she had gotten back on that stage and proved to the world that she wasn’t going to take it lying down. She knew what her music stood for; it wasn’t her fault how others took it. Boxer leaned his head back against the sofa after taking a slice of the pizza, “Surprised we’ve not heard from her majesty,” He meant Sybil. Obviously the girl didn’t take a liking to him. He had a feeling that perhaps she had noticed the spark between him and Red. It didn’t help that others had come to teasingly call him Blue because of how much time he spent around the singer. “Buzzing around hoping to spend some time with you,” Sort of like how best friends do – but Boxer wasn’t entirely sure Red felt the same way. There was something about that Sybil; something that didn’t settle well with him. After stuffing half the pizza slice into his mouth he swallowed and savoured the ever familiar taste of Jan’s. “You don’t have to thank me,” Boxer smiled as he looked at Red. “I just had a feeling you’d be starving by the end of the night,” Especially as it was after midnight now and she hadn’t eaten since lunch the day before. “And I know what you’re like when you’re hungry. Not a pretty sight, Red.” It was a tease, but Boxer prided himself on his sense of humour. Life would be rather boring without a handful of teases or a burst of laughter in a room.
She was tempted to say that he better but instead she picked up her salad and began to eat her salad. His smile assured her that he wasn't trying to be a smartalick with her. Within the short time he had become her guard he was one of the few that understood her the most. Red would even argue that he knew more about her then someone that had known her their whole life. Not that she was about to tell him that. She liked keeping her thoughts to herself, even from him. But he seemed to figure them out one way or another.
Red rolled her eyes as Boxer pointed out his surprise with not seeing Sybil there. She knew his dislike for her friend. She didn't know if Sybil noticed it but she certainly did. Maybe it was because she knew Boxer as well as he seemed to know her, she didn't know. "I don't think she was here tonight," she said before taking another bite of her salad. "I didn't see her in the crowd at least." And Sybil tended to make her prescene known to her whenever her friend came to see her perform. "But don't sound too happy about that. She might hear you and decide to come in." She flashed Boxer a teasing smile before eating a bit more of her dinner.
"No, I do need to thank you because, knowing you, you didn't use the money I left you to buy it." And she wasn't going to allow him to walk out of this room without hearing how much she disliked it when he did that. But she also wasn't about to complain about getting food in her stomach. He was right- she had been starving during her perfomance. If she didn't know that sea monster pizza was his favorite then she would have eaten the whole pizza and salad by herself. At his teasing comment, Red gently shoved his shoulder to show her disproval of his comment but she couldn't hold back the smile that managed to make it's way onto her face. "I can give you another unpretty sight if you continue to talk like that."
