AS I AM BASICALLY the supreme authority over watcher i have decided to rank all the watcher ships.
Watcher/Inv- what do i even say here? error 404! this is the peakest ship in existence. watcher and inv perfectly match each other's freak. the relationship is perfectly dysfunctional in every way and that makes it all the better. i have literally written a 14 chapter fanfiction of these two (shameless plug, check it out on my profile)
Watcher/Monk- i feel as if this ship has the potential to be a really stable, dedicated and mutually supportive relationship. it appears as if monk is far more of a people's person than watcher in most interpretations of their character which nicely contrasts with my little headcanon of a social weirdo of a watcher ehehhehe
Watcher/Artificer- perhaps the one with the most potential i have seen on this list? i have like never seen this ship before in my life but i feel like it has a lot of potential. watcher, perhaps a TINY bit more socially confident yet still nervous and soft-spoken and small is contrasted with artificer's lively, loud personality, perhaps acting as a diplomat in the aftermath of her shenanigans. only problem is she's kinda a mass murderer. also the market share of this ship is taken up by arti/monk
Watcher/Saint- pretty incredible ship that i do not see often! watcher is an apprentice or perhaps, the dark version of saint if it is after watcher dlc. i'd love to see far more content of these two just acting like absolute freaks to the other slugcats. OR MAYBE, MAYBE, watcher just came back from watcher dlc and has to adjust to being a slugcat but doesnt quite getting it but saint teaches him how to be normal? this is peak. i might write this on ao3. [EDIT: AND WATCHER HAS A ONE-SIDED CRUSH ON SAINT? OH MY GOODNESS? ABSOLUTE PEAK?]
Watcher/Survivor- ah, classic nightlight. it is incredibly hard to judge this ship as survivor is kinda a blank slate. he is the middle man, die mitte if you speak german. this ship is largely dependent on how survivor is characterised by the author so i could give every iteration of survivor a different ranking. for dust and void does this pretty well tho
Watcher/Nightcat- pretty niche ship but i still see SOME shippers of this. is incredibly dependent on watcher and nightcat being separate characters in the first place. to be honest, kinda hard to rank because i dont really know how nightcat is characterised. would LOVE to see a long form of this tho
Watcher/Rivulet- i dont really get this one. this suffers from the same syndrome artificer and other slugcats will where they just seem kinda random and unrelated? anyhow, its hard to imagine socially anxious watcher and energetic rivulet being in a relationship together? doesnt mean it wouldnt be PEAK if they were. someone, do this one! oh, who am i kidding. hardly anyone ships rivulet with anyone other than spearmaster
Watcher/Spearmaster- unrelated character syndrome. i could maybeeee see this in the way that these two do not speak to each other at ALL and yet somehow have an incredibly healthy and blooming relationship but hardly used.
Watcher/Hunter- i feel like this is kinda diet watcher/artificer imo. hunter isnt usually as much of a mass murderer so i guess that helps but it doesnt have the same cool biker girl vibe as before. however, this could be implemented in the way that watcher is kinda inexperienced with hunting and generally living in the wild and hunter is great at it? dunno, still.
Watcher/Gourmand- i... don't see this one at all. why would you do this one? with my few interpretations of watcher that i have in my mind, i can hardly see any world where any of their personalities would mesh well with gourmand. perhaps, id avoid this one imo.
this was so much longer than i thought it would be. jesus christ, 631 words. i should really get back to stop procrastinating and writing my fanfiction. feel free to disagree with any of this!
