Well first of all, Mathu is in the hospital and has been for awhile. I don’t know exactly why. But I do know that Willam’s visited him a bunch. As for the whole situation that Willam was talking about in that insta post, let me explain to the best of my abilities (all of this info is also available on Willam’s twitter over the past few months).
Drag Race was nominated for an Emmy for makeup, and the nomination was given specifically to Raven and Delta, who were in charge of Ru’s makeup for almost the whole season. However, the specific episode that was nominated was the first one, and for that episode, Mathu was in charge. WoW as well as many queens affiliated with them knew this, but didn’t correct the mistake - aside from Raven admitting in a video clip that she wasn’t even there for that episode.
Willam’s been vocal about how fucked up and wrong it is that Mathu didn’t get that nomination for as long as she’s known about it, standing up for Mathu and letting people know that the nomination is wrong. I believe that she contacted people herself to let those in charge of Emmy nominations know to change the name it’s under, but I could be wrong. In the process, she’s been nothing but respectful towards Raven and Delta, saying repeatedly that they’re also very talented - it’s just that they WEREN’T THERE, and she felt that someone had to stand up for Mathu. But evidently, local WeHo and California queens have turned against her anyway, because she ‘took the nomination away’ from Raven and Delta.
According to Willam, the people at the Emmys wished that they’d been told about the mistake sooner. WoW, as well as involved queens and others, did nothing to correct this mistake, willfully disrespecting Mathu’s work and career - and while he was unwell and in the hospital, to boot.
