An inventor from Togo in West Africa, Kodjo Afate Gnikou, has made a 3D printer using parts from broken scanners, computers, printers and other e-waste. The fully functional printer cost $100, a fraction of the cost of others currently on the market, and saves environmentally damaging waste from reaching landfill sites.
