June 28, 1969 marked a historic turning point for contemporary LGBTQ+ rights in the United States. An all too frequent police raid on the Stonewall Inn in New York City ignited a multi-day rebellion/protest after patrons of the bar resisted the discriminatory conditions they long endured.
