I do, too!! Also I love the idea of them being friends in high school tho! :DD Not much is known about Rick's childhood, but do you think he would have gone to a private school?? And maybe it was b/c of Rick that she moved here with her baby b/c he's like "it's a great small town, where you can find work" etc. I feel like Lorelai probably doesn't get on that well with Lori, though. Like I feel like Lori would not appreciate Lorelai's humor and just be like "wtf" and kinda stare at her and not know what to say. That being said, I feel like they def see each other fairly often at like Luke's, haha.

WOW HOW AM I JUST NOW RESPONDING TO THIS ONE THO?!? B/C THESE TWOO OMGGGGGG. Okay, so I actually love the idea that he knew/knows Emily/Richard b/c just wow. So, he should totally show up for one of their friday night dinners. I feel like Emily is ~super nice to him and basically knows that he has influence and pulls where no one else does + he's one of the most powerful ppl in town (like he owns half of it so) and basically just wants to be on his good side at all times. Anyway, I feel like Lorelai would be her normal happy/joking self and just like "..." w/ Gold bc I feel like he would be so not amused. And she'd just be like wow my parents friends where do they find these ppl!?!? Unless you think that they would have known each other when Lorelai was a kid??? Alana laughed gently at Lorelai and her jokes, already feeling her muscles relax a bit with the combination of caffeine and a friend close by. “Yes, thank you for convincing Luke to up the coffee’s strength to something like concrete. It’s saved me more than once, and I’m sure he knows it.” She turned to look at the man behind the counter, throwing him a wink before looking back to Lorelai as she slid into the seat across the table.

"But as for if I’m okay, I’ll let you know once I know." She said. Alana stirred her coffee lazily, liking the way that the barest drop of creamer she put in the muck made abstract designs that helped her disassociate a little. "It’s just been a stressful week, and it doesn’t look like it’ll stop any time soon. Lots of students unhappy with how I’ve been deeming their progress, Crawford has me working on some new profiles and I’m having some trouble with patients." A weak smile traced over her lips before she shook herself a bit and seemed to shimmer into ‘friend mode.’

"But really, it’s not to terrible. I’ve been through worse. Tell me about how your week had been, Lorelai. I feel with how busy I’ve been I haven’t talked with you in AGES! How’s Rory? How’s everything going with you?"

Lorelai grinned, "Ha, yes! I'll let him know. He might be more likely to letting it stay that way if I can tell him that I'm not the only one who likes it this way. Well, Rory does, too, but the fact that I've let Rory as much coffee as she wants since she was thirteen won't really help my case here." She laughed, "But I'll make sure he keeps it coming."

"Well then, it's a good thing you are here, because I'm getting a round of apple pie to go with the coffee," She said, cheerfully, "Hey, Luke!" She called, "Pie. Us. Want. Thanks." He rolled his eyes but started to cut two slices from the pie that sat up on the counter. "But hopefully things will calm down? I mean, I could always try to help you with those patients," She teased, "Have you finally gotten to profile my mother?" She said, "Because until you have, things could always be worse." She joked. 

"It's been good; Rory's good. She, uh, she started school over at Chilton, so she's finally going to be some place that really challenges her, you know? So that'll be really great for her. She's stressing a little though, because she's coming in mid semester and she's really far behind, but she'll catch up. She's a smart kid." She smiled slightly. The truth was, Lorelai believed Rory could do anything she put her mind to. She had never seen a kid who was smarter or more capable than Rory, but she had also never seen her so stressed as she had been this last week. This school would give her another world of opportunities, but Lorelai wasn't about to let her daughter go crazy, either. She just hoped she had made the right choice. 

"Oh, and I started a econs class last week, which is okay, but I we had some new guy come into our classroom and try to teach us architecture before he realized he was in the wrong room. He seems nice though, a little quirky, but nice. I dunno if you've met him, his name is Ted Mosby?"

He’d just be all like, “Obv it was her mother’s charm I was seeing in her,” *wink*  And then a moment later internally like, “…Gross…”  ~confused  And he’d probs be totes awk around Rory for awhile bc he has a look-don’t-touch policy on teenagers that he’d nearly broken and just idek fail, Dean, fail.  HAHAHA  He’d probs inadvertently bug her at work or something, esp because the Independence is probs haunted or something.  And he’d probs be like, “OMG IT’S YOU NO I WILL NEVER LIVE THIS DOWN” and then I feel like he’d actually be amused by irritated Lorelai and show up and be like MISS ME??? ~wink

But it's funny b/c if they ever got over this awkward first encounter thing, I really do think that they'd really get along in like a weird way? You know in the pilot of Gilmore Girls how there’s this guy at Luke’s who goes up to Lorelai’s table and tries to put the moves on her and then later comes to the same table while she’s away from the table and tries to put the moves on Rory?  Yeah, I feel like Dean is probs that guy.  ;DDDDD  Except, let’s face it, probs at once more jerkish and charming in typical ~Dean fashion, but you know.  HAHAHA  Either that or the girls spot Sam and mistake him for the OTHER Dean and just ~confusing idk HAHAHAHA

An IV Drip of Coffee | Alana & Lorelai

Alana let out a deep sigh of contentment as she settled into a booth at Luke’s Diner, her hands wrapping around a steaming mug of coffee as thick and as black as Luke could make it. He had taken one look at Alana and set the mug down in front of her without a single word.

It had been one of those days. Filled with pretentious college psych majors and the FBI sending her yet another case to start profiling and a few clients that were teetering on the edge of obnoxious. She could take it every one in a while, but things had been like this for a week straight, and nothing but her near-constant coffee consumption had kept Alana upright.

Well, that and the company of Lorelai Gilmore. As Alana took the first delicious sip, she spotted the other woman walking in through the swinging doors. She smiled and raised a hand to wave at Lorelai, nodding to the empty seat across from her by way of invitation.

Lorelai had just gotten off of work at the Independance and between work and heading over to the college to take her evening class, she planned on stopping by Luke's for a sandwich and, yes, about as much coffee as she could drink in the forty-five minute period, because the coffee at the school's cafeteria was horrible and this was coming from Lorelai who, while sometimes a coffee snob, would gladly settle for most inferior brands if she had to, would not drink it if she could help it.

She was supposed to meet Rory, but it turned out that Rory had a project to work on after school and their schedules wouldn't align, so she was glad to see Alana looking for some company, especially since eating alone always meant she'd just pester Luke for company, but when he was busy he didn't always make for the best conversationalist. 

"Alana, hey. How are you doing? You look ... exhausted. But that's nothing a cup of Luke's coffee can't cure," She said, teasingly, "Especially since it's extra strong ever since I've been a customer." She grinned, but then, looking more serious asked, "But hey, you're doing okay, right?" She asked. Alana was a good friend and they often were able to make light of things when they were together - mostly because that's just how Lorelai got through life - but she did worry about Alana, because her life was almost always serious and while that alone would  be enough to drive Lorelai crazy, she couldn't even imagine what half the stuff Alana must be dealing with could even be, let alone what it'd be like trying to live through it.

Architecture 101 | Ted & Lorelai

Ted laughed, nodding throughout her story. When, finally, she reached the end, his eyes widened in a kind of disbelief. “What? You met her principal in a pair of cowboy boots? No way!” He paused, for a moment, considering. “Tell me now, were they red?” With this he laughed a little, thinking about his own red cowboy boots stowed at home in his closet.

But this was neither the time nor place— Or was it?

"I myself have a pair of mighty fine cowboy boots at home," he tried to say nonchalantly. He was, after all, never one to brag. "I’m sure they made quite an impression on your daughter’s principal." He paused then, considering what he’d just said. "Though you definitely don’t look old enough to have a daughter. And you said she goes to Chilton? That’s a high school. You’re not old enough to have a daughter in high school! You adopted, right?”

But then it was the woman’s turn to order. He chuckled as she asked for the largest cup of coffee they had and then, sadly, watched her go. He ordered a couple sandwiches— he intended to take one home for Marshall —and then stepped off to the side to wait. .. And after a moment, the woman returned.

"Lorelai?" he grinned, nodding slightly. "That’s an unusual name. I’m, of course, Professor Mosby." He leaned forward, slightly, in almost a kind of bow before adding, "Though I suppose you can call me Ted. Since you won’t be taking my class this semester." He laughed a little then adding, "Though don’t tell College Intelligence. They might strip me of my title."

And with that, he winked.

"I did. And she was right there with me, too. Talk about having an embarrassing mom story. But, Rory's a bright kid, so this might not be the way she wanted us to meet her new principal, but she'll wow 'em all soon enough and she'll just be the star student with the ridiculous mom." She smirked, "Red boots? Oh, no. Thank god. That probably would have made it even worse. God, I would have I'd looked like Daisy Duke or something." She said, laughing. 

"Ha, yeah ... there's definitely a place and a time for cowboy boots and that really wasn't it. Honestly, I could have chosen better, but it was the heat of the moment - what can you do? Besides, I love my boots and that's all I was thinking about as I ran out the door, not that I'd actually run into anyone." 

She smiled, "Oh, I'm sure they are. I love cowboy boots. I mean, unless they're red, right?" She added, laughing, before catching his expression. "Oh, wait --- yours are red, aren't they? Um, wow. Sorry. Yeah, you gotta just ignore me sometimes. I start talking and there's no stopping me."

"But, uh, yeah. I am too young. But she's mine anyway. I was the kid who got knocked up in high school, so ... I know, good life choices, right? But, she's a great kid. The best kid, actually, so if I had a re-do I'd make that mistake every time." And she meant it. Rory was her life and it wasn't good until she was in it. Funny how becoming a mom at sixteen had turned her life from bad to good, but that's what happened when you lived with the Gilmores. 

"It is. I have my dad to thank for that. I'm actually Lorelai II, named for my grandmother. I'm actually really surprised my mom went for it, because she does not like her mother-in-law -- probably a reason we've never gotten along from the start, ha. But, then I turned around and named my kid after me. I mean, when I was lying in the hospital thinking, wow men name boys after themselves all the time, all the time, so why can't women? Yeah, my feminism kinda took over at the moment, but Rory keeps telling me that a lot of Demerol probably went into that decision. And, between you and me, she's probably right."

Pizza Time | Liz & Lorelai

Most Saturday nights, Lorelai and Rory made a point to spend together, but this weekend Rory was spending the weekend with Lane and after a rather stressful day at work, Lorelai could use a night in front of the TV with a double cheese pizza from Al's. But she was also a people person, and while she could spend her evenings alone, she'd much rather not. Besides, it had been a long time since she had seen Liz (and if anyone was up for helping her eat two large pizzas, it was Liz). So, picking up her cell, she texted her. You up for some pizza and a movie marathon of bad flicks from the 80s?
