We Can Do This
Do What? Be healthy for life! Sometimes it is really tough but if you have a mind to be healthier than you have the POWER to make your body follow suit. Walking works! It is the primary thing I do to not only lose weight but to feel better and more energetic. You can do this. If you have the ability to move and 15 minutes in the course of the day....make it a walking moment. Just 15 minutes each day can change your life forever.

2015 here I come! I am excited about the new calendar year but I'm also determined to make every minute count (every day and in every year). If you are over the age of 40 like me don't ever forget that there are no real quick fixes to being healthier nor fit....especially if you were out of shape like I was. Just use each day to try something that will motivate you to being healthy for life! Be Accountable Drink water Get off the couch and Move! You can do this!!! Little by little; you will see!
Walk Power Walk
I have a friend who's daughter is in need of a heart transplant. I was so moved by the doctor telling her to WALK while they wait because this will strengthen her. I've always believed that walking was good for healthy living but this motivates me to kick it up a notch. If this daughter can walk not feeling great, I can get up and keep moving to be the healthier me! Won't you join me. I'm 30lbs down just from walking and drinking mainly water and have more to do! I know - I can do this!
What are you committed to?
- is it work? - or is it your family? - or could it be watching that favorite game show or program daily? - or just maybe it's being healthy for life. Whatever the commitment is you'll give your time, energy and sometimes money to make sure you are doing that thing. I challenge you to making healthier choices to be part of those things you are committed to. Exercise - especially walking - is good for you even though it may seem impossible to get it in daily there are other healthier things that may be easier to do. Stock up on lower calorie snacks and try to commit two weeks out of the month to healthier eating. I know you can do it! After 460 days of me changing to becoming healthy, I still struggle but the difference this time is I am committed!
NO MORE EXCUSES!
I've always been a little bothered by dealing with people who seemingly have an excuse for everything. They complain about not having enough money but won't go and look for a job or a better job; I hear complaints about relationships but people won't change them; I even hear complaints about being overweight and sluggish but here again they won't make even the smallest change. I am TOTALLY convinced that God has given us the ability to improve. I'm very realistic and realize that it is not always easy but I know it can be done.
Remember BABY STEPS count! Make little changes to improve yourself and you will see these steps turn into big ones where you can see the change. I am far from perfect but I realized in wanting to make changes in health that I had to get up and do something. Try it today.

ACCOUNTABILITY
It's been one year and six days since I began the journey to a healthier me! I am so glad I did but what was it that kept me going? Hmm - I don't have a coach nor a personal trainer; I am not a member of a fitness center; I don't go to Zumba classes nor do I have support daily. To be honest, the key to me getting healthy was all about "accountability." I encourage you to find what works for you but a key element is be accountable to someone or something. That's what I did and it's working.
288 days!!!! Picture on the left was then, pic on the right is now. 288 days is how long it's been since I woke up and promised myself to start being healthier for life. It has been a journey and I'm determined to get all the fat off and build muscle. I've lost 30 pound and been seemingly stuck for over two months. I am trying to pump myself now as I accepted a challenge with a friend to not only walk my way to being fit but to do an abdominal challenge. I'm excited and will start tomorrow. I'm not satisfied with where I'm at. I have much more to do!
Choices....not always easy! Try to free your cabinets of unhealthy temptations on this journey to being a healthier you. Today I choose yogurt for breakfast and tuna fish sandwich for lunch.
Feeling Stuck!
What a week it's been. Every day it's been tough getting my exercise in. I've been stressed so haven't eaten exactly what I've should BUT I am still determined to lose the weight and be the healthier me Forever. So this is just a nugget to help you. As I push through through, just don't stop. Tomorrow is a new dat where I'll just try again to do better.
Emotional eating
I have been so guilty of eating when stressed. Turning to a quick unhealthy food or even just sitting with a bag of chips munching away as I sat in my spot of the sofa used to be my thing when nothing seemed to be going right BUT now that I have had a mind set change, when stressed, disgusted etc..I have made it a point NOT to turn to food. Anything else will do! - get up and do some laundry - turn on a Happy Song - take a walk - drive to a store and walk -make a healthy snack Whatever you need to do, please do it! It will be better than dealing with the guilt of eating unhealthy later. You can do this. Remember....don't let your emotions drive you to eat when you're really not even hungry.
