Terror bird ( Titanis walleri ) and Dodo ( Raphus cucullatus) š¦ š¦¤
Don't know why it felt so natural to draw them together, they lived 2 millions years apart and in two completely separate continents ( North and South America and Africa respectively)

More of the photos I took of the Dodo remains at Copenhagen natural history museum earlier this year. I just read an article that scientists have actually managed to extract DNA from some of these specimens. That's getting interesting.

The left figure (Fig. 27) depicts a standing dodo with a curved beak, short wings, prominent legs, and a slightly puffed chest, set against a faint background of palm trees and another bird. The right figure (Fig. 28) features a younger or differently feathered dodo with fluffier plumage, smaller wings, and a similarly curved beak, standing on rocky ground. Both images emphasize anatomical features and textures, providing comparative views of the extinct bird species.

Extinct Birds Day 30: Dodo
Someone did a drawtober challenge of extinct birds and I told myself I'd get too stressed if I tried it with everything else going on. But I did manage to sneak in one tiny Dodo at the last minute.
I was doing abstract minis with teens at the library and this one turned out kind of sunsety, with my brain that routed straight into time to paint a Dodo who knows which way the wind is blowing.
