so i will probably reboot this blog at some point, the main concern for a restart is finding a irl fc other than krysten ritter. while she is a decent choice i’d rather have someone whose egyptian, i mean the ankh and the eye of horus should’ve made me consider that from the start but i went for the white like a bad man

i’ve just seen the new ghostbusters and as i feared the matriarchs have destroyed the last remnant of masculine fiction left in this apocalyptic dystopia, they turned a tale of masculine triumph into    -- it was a pretty alright comedy with highs and lows, very memorable characters and a third act that devolves into a cacophony of action which definitely was the worst part but generally i really enjoyed it

so now i have actually watched suicide squad and have some #thoughts

suicide squad is a movie that tries too hard;

on par with the rest of the dccu so far, most of the movies have tried too hard to stand out as dark gritty retellings of cheesy comic book superheroes, they try to be an alternative to the more formulaic, mediocre entertainment that is the mcu

in theory this isn’t a bad idea, but in execution it’s terrible

suicide squad stands out in this regard. while it’s still dark and gritty, it manages to gravitate more towards a dark comedy. unlike BvS where the ~2 jokes in the whole three hours felt highly out of place and broke the dower tone of the film, in SS there are multiple moments of comedy, some that work and some that don’t. while i still feel as if there’s a tonal imbalance between the dark and the humor parts of black comedy, this is still a step in the right direction

however, i cant really mention anything else in the movie that stands out besides the fact that its a bit better than its predecessors. 

jared leto was horrible to watch as his almost monotone line delivery clashed really hard with the character he was supposed to portray. this joker is not noteworthy in the slightest, im glad to say these as i hate the guy but for the general movie goer this sucks

margot robbie was also kind of a lackluster harley quinn. i mean, she’s fine and she works, unlike jared, but that’s not hard. also her accent sounded a bit off. i wouldn’t consider harley in this a highlight personally

maz katana is japan lady from japan who talks in japanese and cuts people w/ katana and is on a quest for revenge for her husband i didn’t really like her she had 0 character besides being japanese. she’s worse than genji and hanzo from overwatch

captain boomerang is actually captain australia im surprised the pony wasnt a kangaroo

everyone else was fine i guess

also did anyone notice how the movie had a very gamey structure to it? it’s not just me, this was a video game, complete with standard enemies and a radio voice and a final boss that goes through 3 phases and is preceded by a mini boss

lately i’ve noticed an interesting trend happening with icons

so, this is your basic 100x100 icon w/ a ~5px border, pretty standard

some people have started using 80x80, which is fine! you can still perfectly see the image within as long as the psd isnt garbage

but then you get to this, the image without the border is 50x50

my question is, why stop there? why nOT 25x25?!
