Oh, this'll be fun. Claire's casual meanderings around Bunkyo and its outskirts usually were for nothing but a distraction for himself, as his job required him to practically work at night. Even if he did use his wandering about to study and pick up more about the targets he would later execute later that night, it really didn't amount to much after that.
Except on those rare moments where he found something intriguing. Namely, the ringing thunk sound leading him to a girl beating on a tree. Then having this weird energy emerging from her fists. That kind of intriguing.
Now, Claire wasn't one to be described as a good person. This even he knew. He reveled in the insanity and wickedness of his actions. Yet these very same actions he used for what he considered the greater good. Simply put, he found himself responsible for the safety of the citizens of Bunkyo since, in his own logic, the strong should protect the weak. And how many people should the World's Greatest Assassin protect?
One of the responsibilities he placed on himself was scoping out any potential threats, and, if given enough reason, eliminate them. So he had spent a good while observing the girl, learning her movements, calculating her strengths, all with incredible accuracy. Afterwards, he thought it time to... learn a bit about her, personally.
When he jumped down from his cover, he didn't expect her to be distracted enough to forget about the tree she had just lumberjack'd. Lightning fast and without a word, Claire quickly came up to be between the girl and the falling trunk, grabbing her to secure her, then with a swat of his hand, launched the tree to lean ineffectually on top of another.
"You really should pay attention to your surroundings more." With a flourish, he swept his hair to the side, before turning back to the girl in question, his smirk ever present. "You're lucky it was me that found you, and not someone inferior."
Letting her go, he leaned on another tree. "Now, to answer your question, I only saw you somehow break down that tree. I was simply enjoying a walk in the woods and stumbled upon you, ya know.
"Anyway, I'd rather get introductions out of the way. Name's Claire Stanfield. Some call me Vino, but I don't think you'd know me from that name." A sinister smile flashed for a second.
