Coming Back To Apollon
Back when I was attending middle school I was still Christian. Not hard-core church-every-Sunday Christian, but still Christian. Except, I saw my god as a god of the sun. Except, I never truly prayed to the Christian god - not really. No, the only god I ever spoke to - truly spoke to - was an ancient god I read about in class - Apollo.
Fast-forward a few years: I’m an eclectic Pagan without a patron deity. My family is still Christian, but I most certainly am not. Unlike many religious converts I have yet to really miss the community my previous faith afforded me, but I do strongly miss the connection with an individual deity. I’ve considered numerous different deities with whom I might work, but none of them have truly clicked with me. It only makes sense to return to the first Pagan deity I ever felt a connection to, and to attempt to be the follower that He deserves.
Apollo, or as I now know him, Apollon, was the god of my childhood, and now, as I stand at the cusp of adulthood, I am finally choosing to return to him. I don’t want to waste any more time turning my back to the sun, instead, I choose to embrace it, and its god, with open arms.
