Maldivian Powerlifters Achieve Outstanding Success at the 2026 SBD Invitational Championships in Thailand

Maldivian athletes Imkan Ibrahim and Adam Mibsaam Saleem delivered exceptional performances at the 2026 SBD Invitational Championships (hosted by the Thai Amateur Association of Powerlifting - TAAP), securing gold medals in their respective categories and earning prestigious Best Lifter honors.
In the Under 74kg Open category, Imkan Ibrahim achieved a remarkable total of 572.5kg, comprising a 197.5kg squat, 140kg bench press, and 235kg deadlift. He was recognized as the 2nd Best Male Lifter Overall across the championships.
In the Under 66kg Junior category, Adam Mibsaam Saleem posted a total of 537.5kg, with lifts of 195kg squat, 112.5kg bench press, and 230kg deadlift. This outstanding performance not only earned him the gold medal but also established new Maldivian National Records in the squat, bench press and total for the Under 66kg Junior division. Additionally, he was awarded 3rd Best Overall Male Lifter at the event.
