It’s been a year since I last posted song recommendations. I’ve been really busy with acads lately but anyway, I’ll make up to you guys by recommending awesome songs this time!

5. Baby // ASTRO

please show ASTRO lots of love!! All of their title tracks are sooo good and their comeback song is great as well! Synchronized choreo and live stages... if you haven’t listened to a single one of their songs then do it now! You won’t regret it -- I swear.

4.  마지막처럼 (AS IF IT'S YOUR LAST) // Blackpink

2NE1 FEELS. I heard that this song was supposed to be 2NE1′s and YG just passed it on to Blackpink. WHEN WILL YG LET 2NE1′S MUSIC DIE AND WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO GIVE BLACKPINK THEIR OWN STYLE BACK ((e.g. whistle)).

And yes, another seventeen song. It’s from their latest album “A|1″ Although I’m total hiphop team trash, I highly recommend this song! It’s just pure art ;u; The chorus is really catchy and I’m pretty sure you guys are gonna love it as well!

First up’s Seventeen’s comeback song! I‘ve been in love with this song since day 1 ;u; and btw... Wonu successfully stole my heart away from Soonyoung ;A; There’s just something about wonwoo that I keep falling for every single day!! Ah~ I cant wait to see him /them/ this October ;;u;; please pray for my poor soul.

GameOver PH

Last month, a close friend of mine decided to treat us for lunch at Game Over in Xavierville for her birthday. It took us approximately 45 minutes to arrive in QC via LRT but it was worth it! 

The place looked so cozy since there were huge sofas and TVs. There was also a computer room and a mini bar! What amazed me the most was the mural (as seen below). It’s really pretty in real life. I didn’t expect a board game cafe to have an artsy side (which is a great plus, btw).

They even had these arcade games! Unlike the xbox, playstation and other games that requires the use of TV, this is actually free. There’s almost a hundred plus games in each arcade to choose from plus you can play with it for as long as you want. Just ask the staff to open it for you! 

PS: you can play Pacman on it hehe

While waiting for our food, my friends and I decided to get some board games and other toys from their shelves. I chose this toy since Bangtan played with it (MPD Mission) and I also wanted to try it for myself! It was a fun game - at first -  but we all got bored so we played Jenga afterwards.

After 3 games, our food finally arrived! Their food was unexpectedly soooo delicious! My ult. favorite’s their Fettucine Alfredo. It had a generous amount of chicken slices and the sauce was just heavenly. Definitely one of the best alfredos I had ever had. Some of my friends ordered the Cheezy Meatball Spaghetti and they said it was pretty delicious so I would recommend that too. Oh, and their pizza was also good! (I wasn’t able to take a photo since we immediately ate it as soon as it was served) It was so good that one of my friends decided to order one for take out!

Also, their four seasons juice tastes great.  think it’s made from scratch since it doesnt taste like the powdered ones at all.

Although their board games weren’t unique (most of them are just regular board games + toys that you could buy online or in Toy Kingdom) considering that they’re a boardgame cafe, the food was excellent so i would rate this place  9/10. The prices aren’t really student friendly but the food’s worth the money! It’s definitely a must try!!!

The Yard

A few days ago, a friend invited me to go to this famous food park in Xavierville called “The Yard”. I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a few months now but I was too lazy to actually go and experience the fuss myself; so when Jen asked me if I wanna go or not, I immediately rescheduled my plans for the day and accepted the invite! 

It was approximately a one and a half (1.5hr) car ride from UST to Xavierville. We arrived at 3:30 and there were already a lot of people waiting outside the food park (well it was a holiday after all). We waited for 30 more minutes before we got in since The Yard opens at 4pm.

The place was really small compared to what I had in mind so I was quite disappointed. It was really hot too. 

We roamed around and I noticed that The Yard has more cuisines to offer compared to other food parks in Manila. They have Japanese, Korean, HK, Mexican, and many more! 

Here’s what we ordered:

1. Prawn Star - 1 bucket of shrimp (6pcs/150php)

2. El Chapo’s - Onion Rings and Nachos

3. Gulp Station - Raspberry Juice (35php)

4. Cajita’s - Matcha Churro 

5. Mac ‘n’ Chicks - Buffalo Wings with fries (160php)

Tips:

1. You should arrive before 4pm so that you can immediately go in and secure a table! At 5pm, there was already a very long queue outside so I suggest you to go as early as possible!

2.  Bring your pocket fans coz it’s really hot -- since the place’s jam packed.

3. Bring your own bottled waters / canned sodas if you dont have any plans in trying out Epicure and Gulp Station’s juice and alcoholic beverages. Water and sodas are a bit overpriced inside the park.

To be honest, I didn’t really like the food offerings in this park. Yes, it had a wide variety of food selections but it was so-so. I think you can buy the same food with a better taste/flavor in other restaurants for a cheaper price.The churros was good but La Lola’s and Cafe Churros (Asturias, Dapitan) is better. My friend was actually disappointed with her Matcha Churro. It’s either she’s full or it didnt really taste as good as she expected. If asked if I still want to go back, my answer would be no. But if you want to try the food and hang out or enjoy a Friday night with your friends in a new and unique environment then you can go and check out The Yard.

만나 Korean Food

Attention all k-loving Bicolanos, especially Nagueños!! There’s a legit korean restaurant in San Felipe called 만나 Restaurant (ManNa Restaurant) . It’s just a few steps away from Deca Homes; located right in front of Montessori. 

It’s just a small but cozy family restaurant headed by a korean missionary! 

Recommended dishes:

Chicken - you can choose between three types of flavors namely fried(470/whole), soy garlic (500/whole) and seasoned spicy (500/whole) and all of them are so so good! My ultimate favorite so far is the seasoned spicy one but my siblings prefer friend chicken. You can also try their chicken pops for just 100php!

Bibimbap (100php) - of course, a healthy bowl of bibimbap is a must try in every korean restaurants!! Don’t forget to mix in the gochujang-date sauce or the red chili paste! It’s what gives bibimbap that nice twist in your mouth.

Kimbap (80-100php) - the price depends on the type of kimbap you’re gonna get. Perfect substitute for Bibimbap if you’re not that hungry! PS: they dont serve any sauce for their kimbap but you can ask for soy sauce and they’ll give you some 

*Chicken Ginseng Soup - we were about to order this for our dad but unfortunately, it’s made-to-order since it takes hours of cooking this meal. So if you want to try their ginseng soup, you better reserve yours through phone call 2 hours before you go to ManNa!

And that’s it! I haven’t tried some of their dishes yet but I cant wait to go back! BTW, if ever you see a cute korean child who drinks flavored milk from a pororo plastic bottle most of the time, her name’s  사랑 (SaRang, eng: Love). She’s shy but is definitely adorable!!! Try saying hi and you might just make her day! 

PS: the song joongki tarp that’s placed on their wall? My friends (Madz and Martha) and I were the ones who suggested them to print one so that they can attract more customers! HAHA so happy that they took our suggestion seriously

5.  유행가 // Seventeen This song is really catchy!! It has a unique vibe but it’s a masterpiece istg. Definitely worth listening to! 

4.  예쁘다 (Pretty U) // Seventeen Seventeen released this as their title track for their new album Love & Letter last week and I immediately fell in love with it. SVT definitely made an excellent job in preparing for this comeback! The choreo is so adorable too ;; 

and guess what. Wonwoo’s taking my heart away from Hoshi in this era :----)

3.  미쳐(Crazy) // 4Minute

Okay, so the reason why I’m bringing this back is because someone from our uni performed Crazy the other day and it would be amazing if other people can appreciate this sexy art too.

2. Fire // BTS Yes, I’m kinda promoting it. please do listen to it!!!!! This song might probably even exceed your expectations ((except for the people who naturally find hiphop/EDMs annoying))

1. Butterfly Prologue Mix // BTS I’ve been debating on whether to place Fire or Butterfly remix in this week’s number 1 but I’ve decided on butterfly since I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR BIGHIT TO RELEASE THIS VERSION FOR AGEEEES. THE TORTUUUUUUURE!!!! To be honest, I was quite disappointed with the original version since it doesn’t necessarily sound like the preview from the prologue mv and I was waiting for the intro instrumental but I got nothing! So I’m really really really happy that Bighit decided to include this track in their special album. Thanks bighit!

Song of the Year Week:

Fire ( 불타오르네 ) // BTS

This title track is actually bangtan’s first EDM (electronic dance music). I wasn’t really expecting the boys to release an EDM since they haven’t made this kind of music before so I‘m really happy that bangtan’s going out of their comfort zone. They definitely slayed the charts with this comeback ❣

Velvet Friends Cat Cafe

Last April 9, my friends brought me to this cat cafe and I was really surprised because they asked me to bring a pair of socks since they were planning to go “bowling”. I wasn’t really happy with the idea since I don’t really like bowling that much so you couldn’t imagine how happy ecstatic I was when I saw tons of adorable kitties inside the cafe. 

So basically, before entering the cafe, you should remove your shoes and it’s required to wear socks inside. Once you’ve entered, you have to pay for your entry fee and here are the rates as of April 2016:

Since we’re still students, we only paid 240php which includes a complimentary iced tea (a little too sweet but still better than Barkin’ Blends’ milktea) and a choice of your preferred dessert -- chocolate cupcake or butterscotch (i highly recommend the butterscotch).

The ambiance of the place is so relaxing. There were different cat figurines on display -- which were too adorable, by the way. This is definitely cat heaven!! Oh, they’re also selling cat supplies like food, shampoo, and many more!

Compared to other cat cafes within the vicinity of Manila, Velvet Friends actually have different breeds of cats. There were American Curls, Sphynx, Exotic Shorthair, and many more! They were seriously the most adorable cats ever!!! You can pick them up and carry them around since they were very chill and harmless. Most of them (especially the american curls) sleep a lot. There were two kittens when we visited the place. They’re the ones who love playing and interacting with people!

The complimentary drink and dessert were given to us 5 minutes before our time’s over but you can ask for it anytime!

Did I mention that the owner of this cafe also sells cats? Yup! You can take home one of these furry friends with you! The price ranges from 50,000-70,000 php. Just ask the manager or the cashier for more information if you’re interested in adopting one!

As an ailurophile, i’d definitely give this happy place a 9/10!

04.02.16 SandaraParkxPenshoppe

As you all know, I’m a total trash for kpop idols so my friend and I decided to attend Dara’s meet and greet event which was handled by Penshoppe. All we need to do in order to join the event is to buy anything in Penshoppe with a minimum of P800. 

Not only did we get to buy new clothes but we also saw the one and only Sandara Park (and Robi Domingo hehe). I was expecting a Penshoppe representative or staff to host the event so I was really shocked when Robi Domingo (a famous Filipino host) came out of the stage and started joking around with the fans. He did some Q&As which took about 30 minutes before Sandara came out. She was sooo flawless and beautiful in real life istg. My self esteem dead ass dropped dramatically. Not only was she pretty but she’s super nice too. 

Anyway, the event lasted for only an hour but seeing Dara up close took all my fatigue away. She mentioned about holding a 2NE1 con in the ph while in the middle of the fanmeet so im really hoping to see her and the rest of 2NE1 soon. 💕

Lord Stow’s Bakery Specialty: egg tarts

The egg tart itself had a bland-ish taste and I was quite disappointed with it but the crust was the amazing. I dont think children will like it that much since they prefer sweet things but the adults will definitely love this. It tastes better if it’s cold so I suggest chilling it first for about an hour before eating it.

3.23.16: ATV ADVENTURE 

Last Wednesday, we went to Legazpi, Albay and went ATV riding! The original plan was to go ATV riding at Ligñon Hill but we left Naga at 2pm so we arrived Albay at 4pm, almost 5 actually. My dad decided not to go all the way to Ligñon since it was almost getting dark so we proceeded to Cagsawa Ruins instead (since there were available ATV tours in here too!). There were a lot of ATV tours available to choose from but we chose the one offering yellow ATVs. We chose the single rider one which costs P699. It was the cheapest one available and we rode it for more than an hour. The tour guide was very nice and he even took photos of us once in a while 💕. It was really nice and relaxing to see the green fields since i live in the cities 🏭. After the ride, we went to check out Mt. Mayon since it was just a few steps away from us. Entrance fee’s P10 but we got it for free since the guard heard us speaking in Bicol (although Bicolanos arent really exempted from the entrance fee). By the way, there’s sili ice cream available everywhere! You can choose from chocolate, mango, ube, and strawberry sili ice cream (YES, ALL OF THEM CONTAINS SILI). I recommend the strawberry sili ice cream! 

Overall, i give this tour a 10/10 ✔ Next time you come to Bicol, make sure to go ATV riding and look at the gorgeous view of Mt. Mayon 🌋and the Cagsawa Ruins 💘

I’ve been craving for korean food especially 떡볶이 (ddeokbokki/spicy rice cakes) for days now and thank God, Jamie agreed to go to Hanayo with me for dinner since it was just a few blocks away from my dorm! Cravings satisfied!!
