And somewhere out there, Bobby smiled as he watched over his family….satisfied they’re safe again.
And also terrified because who gave Buck a kid?!?

“Also just sucks because they’re doing it because they don’t trust me”
“Would you trust you?”
In my head is “they’re doing it because they love you”
Happy to see hopefully the start of MayRavi - seriously so cute.
But salty that there wasn’t suddenly a familiar voice calling out a bid for Buck and him turning to look into a pair of blue eyes and a soft smile.
Personal opinion time:
Of all the oddball, convoluted storylines they cooked up for this show...
the whole Shannon/Kim doppelganger was probably one of the worst. Especially when Kim decided she needed to come over "as Shannon" to let Eddie vent. The icing on the "WTF cake" was the way it created a mess of angst for poor Christopher.
It was just....well, frankly, it was stupid AF. It's like the writers are determined for none of the characters to ever be happy and to make sure they stay unhappy in the wildest ways they can create.
Season 7, Episode 9&10 🙄🙄🙄
PSA for the day: Tommy Kinard kisses are better than fake mouth static.
That is all.
Season 7, Episode 4 🥰🥰🥰
9-1-1 Rewatch - Season 7 Episode 1-3 aka "the Cruise ship hot mess"
I'm currently looking forward to a cruise myself that will be going to some of the places Bobby and Athena "visited" (or were supposed to) so now I have to add "kidnapped by pirates looking for a dongle" to my expectations...right? 🫣🫣🫣
Round 2 of "Tommy Kinard commandeering or outright stealing aircraft to help the 118" (which is going to lead up the next episode and we all know where that is going to go *squeeeeee*) 🥰🥰🥰
Still maintain my head-canon that everyone left on that ship thought they were gonna die and then out of the chaos a helicopter comes and they're all like "What is that?" and Bobby and Athena just smile and say "those are our kids". 🥹🥹🥹
Headed into Season 5 of this rewatch and...
We have reached....Claudette.
Hate her. She didn't deserve what happened to her but I wasn't sorry to see it happen. She might have been good at her job but she was just such a needlessly horrible person, especially to May. Never understood the purpose of her character other than to create some tension for May who didn't need it.
And it shocks me that Josh was so dismissive to May.
Ahhh! Baby Ravi!! 🩵🩵🩵🩵
(season 4 episode 6)
9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 4 - What’s your Grievance
Buck’s “I have walked through fire” speech to his parents hits just as hard the second time around. The pain/hurt is so palpable.
Oliver deserved an Emmy for that moment and the next episode, "Buck Begins". Just pure perfection. (also, the subtle-or not so subtle- ways they alluded to Maddie’s abuse are particular well done IMO)
I know the parents were grieving but man do I loathe them for their choices and their selfishness.
Season 9: Episode 6
**SPOILER ALERT - No readie if you haven't watchie!**
First off...I need three things: More Ravi, More Tommy, and more Big Brother Buck and Little Brother Harry. Freakin' adorbs.
The poor girl getting bullied. I knew who the culprit would be. And it makes me sad. Also the way it brought up the past for Athena hurt my heart.
I do not like cliffhangers and us having to wait months to learn whats up with Hen. Do we have theories? My money's on lupus at the moment.
Congratulations, Captain Han. You know you'll do Bobby proud.
Rewatch up to 3:14 The Taking of Dispatch 9-1-1
Josh - I can't imagine the terror of seeing that guy again....and then it gets worse. But also Josh turning into a badass to save Terry. Plus the whole "you don't get to die". Sweet boy I love you.
Legit all of the "main" call center staff coming up with micro-plans. Josh sending Athena to Chimney, Terry trying to hit the fire alarm, Linda with her "allergic reaction" so they can use the epi-pen.
Except for the whole "Okay so don't be mad", Buck being the reasonable one who has to talk Chimney down.
Meanwhile - Does Sue Blevins get the fan love she deserves? She's the perfect mix of Call Center Mom and Strict but Fair and Caring Boss...and then she proves how whip-smart she is when she comes up with a way to stop Athena getting killed and warn her. And then grabbing a damn gun and telling dude she will absolutely kill him. It's clear her priority the whole time is keeping her people safe.
S9:E5 Dia de los Muertos
Also known as a reminder not to watch this show at work and I should stock up on tissues.
Up to Season 3, Episode 2 & 3 - Sink or Swim & The Searchers
Buck feral about Maddie last season is nothing compared to his feral desperation about Christopher. I forgot about how much that whole story line just rips your heart apart and squishes it back together.
The Call Center scenes in general were superbly done. There were probably dozens of calls or more that day like Maddie's Jonas - and they all had to just keep going. Heroes as much as those out on the streets
May "I am 17 and I'm not watching someone die today" Grant and then Athena "I guess we gonna cut off an arm" Grant-Nash.
The stark reality of disaster - the floating bodies, debris being as bad (or worse) than the actual disaster, the "5000 body bags" and the missing posters.
And in the midst of chaos - the show still manages to be funny:
The two guys out saving animals, one of whom I just realized is Duane aka Mr "whatever" from Full House.
"We're gonna need a bigger mail truck".
Season 2, Episode 14
So that's....two helicopters AND a Water Scooper/Bomber that boy commandeered for the 118.
Because you can't tell me the "Tommy" that Chimney called wasn't our boy.
Reaching Season 2, Episode 13 - Fight or Flight - of this rewatch and...
Buck going feral about Maddie.
Athena going from "who is this idiot?" in Season 1 to "This is my boy and I'm about to go feral with him." Also Athena doing the whole "Don't you go there, son." when Buck starts to spiral.
Bobby giving Buck the whole "you be on your best behavior" Dad speech.
Josh just being like "Yeah screw the rules (and probably the law), we gonna find Maddie."
Maddie going from abuse victim to saving herself. Queen.
The start of Chimney x Maddie 🧡💜🩷🧡
Doug getting exactly what he deserved.
Rewatching 9-1-1 because it’s been awhile and of course we must see my babies again.
And babies they are. How YOUNG they look!! Oh I’m so ready to watch them all grow up again.
Buck being a completely different type of hot mess. 🫣
Hen and her encyclopedic knowledge and her utter exasperation at her 118 boys.
Chimney’s unluck in love - oh sweetie, just you wait. 💜
Athena being a Boss Queen from the beginning.
Bobby saying “this is not a family.” -Sweet Angel Heart you just don’t know it yet. 🥺🥰
And Abby sure enough did say her ex-boyfriend “Tommy”. Daaaaang. 🫠
Cleaning out some old short story files and came across some Fallout 4 headcanons and shorts. This is one of the few finished ones. Ah, my Deacon. My Sole adores him. (also please don't come for me for changing Dogmeat's name - it's just such a weird name for the most goodest boy ever. Rocky comes from Red Rocket where she found him and there's a story behind the name but it's not important for this go round)
***
Looking back on it, she was actually pretty surprised he told her his name. Sure, he had trusted her, and only her that she knew of, with a small glimpse into his true past. She knew about his youth...and Barbara. But his name was a secret she’d thought his heart would never release. A part of himself that was locked away.
They were holed up in a half destroyed house somewhere south of Diamond City. At some point someone had dragged an old mattress into what had once been a bathroom and patched up the biggest of the holes in the walls and ceiling. To enter, they’d had to duck through a crumpled doorway and traverse a broken staircase that had held their weight pretty well considering the condition of the rest of the building. Outwardly, the house looked like it was useless as a refuge meaning there was little chance of them being attacked. The way his nose had crinkled in approval meant he’d already mentally added this place to his short list of safe places to camp out for a day or so. She didn’t bother to remind him that the Railroad didn’t need so many safehouses anymore, with the Institute gone and the Brotherhood retreated.
He’d been silent for awhile. He had been most of the day. He got like that sometimes. His glibness would fade away and he’d be quiet and watchful. Once or twice now he’d simply disappeared for a few days. He always returned.
“Can’t leave you alone for too long. The wild things you get up to. Liable to come back to a rowdy quilting party or something.”
They could have stayed at one of the settlements, always welcoming to the Minuteman General and her companions, but she’d sensed his lack of desire to be around people and had drifted them toward this little camp, hoping it would ensure she didn’t wake up alone wondering when (or if) he would appear again.
They had enough corn cakes and mutfruit to forego a fire and the night was warm enough they’d just laid down to sleep. She’d intended to keep her distance but he’d surprised her by scooting himself closer after she’d settled herself down.
They’d lain quiet for some time, both dozing - or so she’d assumed. Suddenly, he’d spoken, voice soft. A single word. A name.
“Hmm?” She was half-asleep, one hand methodically scratching at Rocky’s ears. The dog was, as always, draped over her, his big head nestled on her hip.
“That’s...uh...that’s my name.” A beat. “My...real name.”
Even in the dim moonlight, green eyes were able to meet soft blue ones. She repeated the name.
“Yeah. Not all that impressive, right? But...there it is.” Another beat. “I just thought...you should know it. You know. Confession time.”
She considered him silently. She prided herself on being one of the few people who had always been able to tell when he was spinning the tales he’d blanketed himself in for so long. This was not one of those times.
“So you want me to call you that from now on?”
“I...uh...I don’t know.” He sat up. “I haven’t been him in a long time. Not since Barbara. I’m not sure I know how to be him anymore.”
“Who says you have to be? I’m not the same person I was before either. Obviously.”
She pushed Rocky off her and sat up as well. She started to slip an arm around his waist and felt him tense. She waited. They were no longer just friends, but the relationship they’d been forging since the fall of the Institute was still new and fragile for both of them. After a moment, he relaxed and she took that as a cue to wrap both arms around him and lean her head against his shoulder.
“Deek, none of us stays the same forever. The world changes. We adapt.” She laughed softly. “I should know.”
“I know.” He laid a hand over hers. “Maybe it’s time for me to adapt again.”
“If you’re thinking about going in for one of your face mods, you’d better think again.” She touched her nose and then a gentle kiss to his rough cheek. “I rather like this one, thank you.”
“Ha. Poor you. Stuck with this mug.” He let out a soft snort. “Nah, I was just thinking maybe...maybe I don’t have to do the whole mysterious stranger thing as much.”
“Well. Not with me anyway.” She considered it. “You were Deacon when I met you. It fits.”
“Plus if I changed it I’d have to get new business cards, huh?”
“Something like that.”
“Okay then.”
He twisted so he could look at her fully. “We, uh...we good?”
“Of course. Always.”
“Always.” The word came softly, followed just as softly by his lips against hers.
He laid back down. The way his whole body seemed more relaxed told her the brooding silence of the last few days was over. She joined him, snuggling herself fully into him and tucked her head under his chin. Rocky huffed, a reprimand for his rest being disturbed, and resumed his place half on top of his mistress. He poked his warm nose into Deacon’s hand and snuffled with satisfaction when the man took over scratching between his ears.
“Oh, that’s a mistake right there. He’s never going to let you stop now.”
He hummed into her hair. “Guess I’ll have to stick around then.”
