the most upsetting thing is how selfish some of you act. its all about you apparently. you you you, you didn’t say this, you didn’t tweet that, you weren’t informed about this, you are offended by the collective name you normally boast about everywhere. suddenly it’s not about a fragile, mentally ill girl, whose happiness was taken away from, who was made to feel guilty for sharing a beautiful moment with her idol because of someone’s bitterness and hatred. suddenly it’s not about what you were all preaching two weeks ago, about stopping the hate, treating idols like humans, with respect and gentleness - no, it’s not about that, it’s about you. you don’t care about breaking a person whose intentions and words were sincere and loving, who’s still mourning a loss of a close friend, because why would you, right? its the only time you apply the „not your fandom, not your problem” rule, or so it seems.
you say you are a family, you’re a team, but now it’s just “one of you” that manipulated the audio and made that account to post it. it’s just „one of you” that took the audio, translated it and claimed it to be true. just „one of you” responsible for spreading it around various websites, among thousands of people. it’s „one of you”, even though there are hundreds, or thousands of you currently laughing in the mentions of antis, praising them for their actions. you keep pulling out old receipts from one or two years ago, pointing fingers at other fandoms, throwing tantrums or even making fun of this situation because you’re oh so offended that anyone could ever accuse you of anything. newsflash, it’s not about that at all. it’s about the hypocrisy of so many of you, who go out of their way to spread malicious rumours, translations, just out of spite and hatred, but then go on preaching about positivity and social justice, mental health and putting an end to violence. it’s about the fact that the two targets are suffering from something that was their happy memory. it’s about the fucking fact that you put your own pride over the damage your fandom’s members, many of them, have caused.
if your reaction to this is to go on social media and cry „not all armys are like this”, you’re showing how selfish and insensitive you are. but of course, you’re the victim here, right? what do we know.
grow up. own up. no one’s pointing a finger at you specifically (and if you feel like they do, it might be your guilt clocking in). shoe actual genuine empathy for once, if not for baekhyun, then for the depressed fan and many more who have stumbled upon the misleading statements and felt hurt. it’s not about you. it’s bigger than that. and defensiveness as your reaction to this really shows where your morals and priorities lie and who you are as a person.
