Kim is sitting at the corner of Gentle Bean for the third day in a row, seeing the comings and goings as he pretends to work on his laptop. As soon as Arm sent him Chay’s timetable, Kim had studied it until he had memorized it like the back of his hand.
Although Kim has been coming to Gentle Bean late in the afternoon in case Chay decided to hang out on a different day from his usual, Kim has also gone to other spots Chay might spend some time. On Tuesday, as Chay had a long break between his lunch and his next class, Kim hung around the auntie who sold Chay’s favorite chicken skewers, which were a couple of streets away from Chay’s school. He had dinner at Chay’s favorite noodle shop in the hopes of seeing him, too. All Kim did was eat overcooked noodles with oily dumplings. Chay had a very questionable taste, but there’s nothing Kim can do except show him better food in the future.
Today is the last time Kim is trying his luck. If he doesn’t meet Chay today, he’ll take the matter into his own hands: follow Chay until he can create a situation where he can speak with him without looking like a loser or stalker.
When Kim is about to get up and order another mocha latte, the door swings open and three teenagers dressed in everyday clothes come in. The first two seem familiar to Kim, and he can’t pinpoint why, but then, when the third turns around, it clicks. They’re Chay’s friends, and the last one to get in is Chay himself.
