I keep imagining the moment my family will someone ask of them, "Is Fadel still alive?!" I don't know how they will answer that day. No mother, father, or sibling should have to live with this grief and fear that hangs over every soul.

Every day I fight two battles at once: the battle to endure the pain of the shrapnel lodged in my body from the bombing of our house, and the battle to find a way to afford the medication for my anemia, the painkillers to ease my injuries, and the bandages I still desperately need. I feel like I'm breaking down more and more each day. Every single day.
