Welcome to the Warrior Cats TCG blog! This is where I brainstorm and make concept designs for a hypothetical WCTCG as well as how I think the game would be played. Asks are open if you want to shoot questions or ideas!

OK! SO! The artwork I was working on for the field card example is taking way longer than I thought because I forgot painting detailed landscapes is something I never do so what I'm gonna endup doing is completing all three cards and then queuing them up with brief explanations over the next three days.

I DID get the fronts for field, event, and item cards made today though. Tomarrow I'll draw up three card artworks to use as reference for when I give a quick rundown on how each may work!

will there be extra cards that aren't specific characters that let you do various extra things (think trainer cards from the pokemon tcg). for an example like a fresh kill card that heals one of your active cats or something

Yes! I'm trying to get some specifics down before I start trying to draw some.

As of now I'm planning on adding item cards, event cards, and field cards to go with the character cards.

They're not gonna be added for a while because I'm trying to think of how to structure them, but I have preemptively decided Starclan cards are white, Dark Forest cards are black, and Bloodclan cards are red.

just a question i had after seeing the full swiftpaw art: would there be a lostface variant of brightheart? i'm guessing yes, but i'm just curious honestly.

Oooh good question! I went back and forth on this for a while and decided that I would do one eventually!

Would there be different cards for each cats different forms? (Ex. Squirrelpaw -> Squirrelflight)

If so can you have both forms of the same cat in a single deck?

Yes! And you can have multiple forms of the same cat in the same deck.

The cards are still in a concept phase, but what I'm thinking of is putting out cards by book if that makes sense? That way there can be variants of the same character with different stats and skills.

For example an "Into the Wild" set could have Tigerclaw as a Thunderclan Warrior while a "Rising Storm" set would have Tigerstar as a Shadowclan Leader.

An example of card variants, an "Into the Wild" set would have a regular Bluestar card while a "Bluestar's Prophecy" set would have a special full art Bluestar.

That way there can be more variety with the cards and multiple skillsets can be available for each character. If someone likes to use Bluestar but isn't a huge fan of her current skill/stats, maybe another version would be more suited to them. And also it's just fun to have different versions^^

Here is the full artwork featured on Swiftpaw's card! Had a lot of fun with this one and I tried a new shading style. Pretty proud of the result!

OKAY!! So this is what a hypothetical card front and back would look like for character cards!

Each card has a name, health points, strength/healing points, clan, rank, skill, and description that coresponds to each character.

I have more brainstorms coming up in a few hours regarding character variants based on book/series as well as what card fronts for each clan would look like!

Loose brainstorms for hypothetical Warrior TCG:

The field will most likey be a closer layout to Yugioh where you can have 5 warriors out at a time

When a warrior is defeated they go to "Starclan" which would be the "graveyard" in this scenerio. Idk if I would do something different with Dark Forest cats yet.

There's a place on the field for a Medicine cat separate from the Warrior slots. When a Medicine cat is out you can choose a warrior once per turn to heal and how much they're healed is based on the skillset of the medicine cat. Medicine Cats CAN NOT be attacked if there are active Warriors on the field. If there are no Warriors on the field however, the enemy is free to attack the medicine cat.

Warriors will ALWAYS take priority on the field. If your enemy has a warrior and a medicine cat, you can only attack the warrior. However if a Warrior's "skill" or an "event" (temporary name) card allows you to, you may attack whichever Cat your choose regardless of priority.

Item cards can be attached to warriors and medicine cats to boost their HP, Skillset, or strength. Some item cards may have multiple effects depending on the cat it's attached to. For example, let's say theres an item card called "Dog Tooth Claws" that boosts the Strength of the Warrior it's attached to but when it's attached to Scourge it would allow him to use his "Death Blow" skill.

Decks would be structured like clans. Your deck may only contain 1 leader, 1 Deputy, and no more than 3 medicine cats. Decks can be mixed with cats from any clan.

Got carried away and felt like brainstorming a hypothetical card back. Had to do these on my phone so the quality is eeehhh BUT I am on the fence about these backs. I like the simplicity that TCG backs tend to have but I also think it looks a little plain without the vectors... Thoughts?
