"Wasabi!" Ren ran over and hopped on his back.
âRen,â Wasabi laughed as she hopped on his back, reaching up to pat her head,
âWhatâs up, buddy?â
â {áŠ} The brunette blinked, looking like she was gonna cry. âThank you Wasabi. I feel like I can do anything because I have you who supports me.â She wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug.
Wasabi wrapped his other arm around her, reciprocating the hug,
âAnytime, girl. I know you can do it. I expect great things from you.â
" Âż? "
Wasabi shoved his hands inside his pockets,
âVanellope! No sĂ© lo que ha pasado, pero de repente no puedo hablar una palabra de InglĂ©s. EstĂĄs bien?â
Pure amazement was the only thing that Wasabi could express at this moment. Pure. inexpressible. Amazement.Â
He didnât know that Vanellope knew sign language!
Of course, he never asked, but that did not matter! That was perfect! Now he had a way to get over the language barrier, as well as he would look cool doing it!
He had always harbored a fascination for sign language, and now, he was getting the chance to learn it.Â
He fervently nodded his head, signifying that he was in full agreement of the idea, and leaned forward, giving her his full and undivided attention, as he awaited her instruction.
She grinned; he really did want to learn! Now Wasabi and Vanellope had something to do until the⊠Whatever it was wore off. Vanellope looked around for someplace to take a seat, as she wanted to be comfortable while she attempted to teach, and soon found a gumdrop she could use. She motioned for Wasabi to wait where he was while she went to get the gumdrop in question. It didnât take too long, for soon Vanellope was moving the piece of candy over and plopping it down near Wasabi so she could sit. Once she was seated, she cleared her throat and prepared herself to teach.
âNow, the first thing you gotta learn is the alphabet. âCause every language has an alphabet, and that includes sign language,â Vanellope said. She was trying to remember every little thing that Thunder had taught her almost two years ago, and it seemed she remembered enough to teach him. So, she held out her fist, much like Thunder had done when he had taught her, and made sure the knuckles and palm of her hand were showing so Wasabi could see them.
âThis is an âAâ in sign language,â Vanellope said. Honestly, she never thought she would get to teach anybody this little known skill of hers. But she was glad to be teaching Wasabi while she had the chance.
Wasabi smiled and nodded as he attentively listened to her instruction, nodding at the fact that every language had an alphabet, or a system of letters upon which one can build words and associate sounds with to those words.
He watched her as she demonstrated the first letter to him. From the looks of it, the first letter of the alphabet in sign language was only a fist. That was easy enough.
He brought up his hand and balled it into a fist like she had done...only, that was all he had done. His palms were not exposed, an immediate beginnerâs flaw that Vanellope could easily spot and correct.Â
âComo?â
"Wasabi!" Ren ran over and hopped on his back.
âRen,â Wasabi laughed as she hopped on his back, reaching up to pat her head,
âWhatâs up, buddy?â
â {áŠ} âHeh, I never thought of that. Professor of music. Yes, that would be fun to doâ she grinned joyfully.
Wasabi nodded,
âYeah. though itâd be a lot of hard work and studying, cause most professors have ph.dâs.
If you really love music, and really want to go that way, then it will be totally worth while.â
Gives her a comforting grin,
âAnd youâd feel a bit better about yourself too, knowing that you were able to accomplish this..
Donâât let just the sky be the limit, Ren.
Donât be afraid to think just a little bit bigger..â
"Wasabi!" Ren ran over and hopped on his back.
âRen,â Wasabi laughed as she hopped on his back, reaching up to pat her head,
âWhatâs up, buddy?â
â {áŠ} âAgreed. That way you wonât be in a panic and figuring out what to doâ she giggled. âHave you planned out what youâre doing after graduating or are you still working on that?
Wasabi thought for a moment,
âI dunnoâŠmight go into the medical research fieldâŠor work for an engineering technology firm or something..Iâm still thinking about itâŠ
You?â
â {áŠ} âThat sounds great. I donât know yet. Iâm thinking of traveling around as a street performer.â Ren hadnât really planned out what to do.
Wasabi nodded in thought,
âHmm, thereâs a thought..
Or, you could become an accomplished musician. Or a professor of music. Thereâs no stopping what you could do.â
Wasabi thought for a moment,
âI dunno...might go into the medical research field...or work for an engineering technology firm or something..Iâm still thinking about it...

" Âż? "
Wasabi shoved his hands inside his pockets,
âVanellope! No sĂ© lo que ha pasado, pero de repente no puedo hablar una palabra de InglĂ©s. EstĂĄs bien?â
Wasabi honestly had no clue.Â
At her suggestions, he shrugged and looked around,
â Honestamente, no tengo la menor idea. Tuve un par de llamadas que querĂa hacer, pero teniendo en cuenta las circunstancias, parece como si eso no va a suceder âŠâ
He sighed, taking a seat on a nearby jawbreaker,
âMe gustarĂa que hubiera alguna otra forma de poder comunicarse, de esa manera, tendrĂamos por lo menos tener la barrera del idioma roto.â
âI still canât understand what youâre saying,â Vanellope said, rather bluntly at that. It was the truth, though. She wasnât programmed to be multilingual as far as she knew. If she were, she would have been able to pick up on what Wasabi had been saying sooner. There had to be some way for the two of them to communicate that didnât involve gathering candy wrappers and some kind of writing utensil. But what could theyâŠ?
Wait. She did have a solution. Why hadnât she thought of it before? Vanellope had the perfect way to break the language barrier, and it was something that Thunder had taught her before. Now she could pass it on to someone else.
âWait a sec, Wasabi⊠I think I got it!â Vanellope chirped. âWe could use sign language! Thunder taught me it a while back when I got put under a spell that stole my voice. I could teach you, and then we could communicate until this⊠Whatever it is youâre speaking goes away.â

Ralph smiled as he hopped thru the town. He just placed a little girl in what was hopefully her forever home. He stopped to take a break in a back alleyway. He didnât notice when someone coming closer to where he was.
wasabis-no-singer
Wasabi didnât know what had possessed him to take this backalley when he was walking home. It was smelly, dirty, and littered with trash..but he supposed that there was no turning back now...
With determination, he set his course towards the end of the alley, invisible blinders on, his sight set to tunnel vision, as he made his way down the alleyway.Â
It was only the slight rustling of a trash can that caught the neatnikâs attention. He was already a bit tense and on edge because of his surroundings, so when a small hare emerged from hiding, Wasabi yelped and fell back to the wall, clutching his heart.
/...hnnng..itâs just a hare...its just a hare../
However, upon closer inspection..
âA very...odd..species..of hare....â
Flupknups stared at his master before staring straight up at a giant swirling blue disk.
..It was a good thing that the road was particularly clear of traffic at that moment.
Wasabi ran out into the street, ready to collect his kitten when he noticed the large space/time anomaly hovering just above the two of them.
âWhatâŠ.is that??â
âOh,â Wasabi nodded, casuallyâŠ
..before doing a double take at the being that had just addressed his question,
âWoahwoahwoahwoah, WAITAMINNUTE!!
Who are you???
âŠ
..and why are you in my apartment?!?!â
Wasabi frantically scrambled against the wall, trying to keep his distance as best as possible. He had no idea who this was or why he was here.
..though he did look rather familiarâŠas if he had just seen him before..
âPut simply? Iâm Flupknups. Been monitoring you and Derrick for a while now.â
Wasabi could only stare at Icarus for a while.
Monitoring? just what did he mean by that?
â..I-Iâm not following youâŠ
..youâve been monitoring us?â
âYeah, an assignment for Terran studies. I took it a step further by integrating into human society as a pet. Strictly academic stuffâŠâ
Wasabi was completely floored. Â He was still trying to process what he had just been told.Â
He had known Icarus, âFluffknupsâ, for years! Ever since he and Derrick had found him when they were little children, he and Icarus had grown up together. Besides Derrick, and the late Tadashi, as well as a few others, Icarus was one of his very best friends. Even if he appeared to be just a cat, he had connected with his faithful companion and had formed a tight bond with him.
NowâŠthis.Â
Wasabi wasnât angry. He wasnât even hurt. He was completely and utterly amazed. He never really thought Icarus to more than a very intelligent and faithful cat companion that kept wonderful company and seemed to have a gift for understanding, even if he didnât speak in the human language..
In factâŠthat was it. Icarus DID have a remarkable understanding despite his appearance of being, âJust a catâŠ.with blue hair..â He seemed completely understand whatever Wasabi would say, and his eyes somehow always told the neatnik that he knew just  what was going on or that he could even sympathize with him..
All of those experiencesâŠall of those memories just fade away into the background as this new truth about his faithful companion is revealed⊠Wasabi couldnât even begin to comprehend it..it was a bit overwhelming.
âunreal..â
âI can assure you, Master WasabiâŠthis is quite real.â Icarus nodded.
âBut I can also assure you that if you stand like that and stare at me for much longer you will be hit by an approaching semi-truck.â
âMaster?â
Wasabi didnât have the time to think more on this, as the mentioned semi-truck had obnoxiously honked its horn, warning them of itâs presence, as it approached, causing him to turn a ghostly white.
âWHOA,â he screamed, and grabbed Icarus as he jumped out of the way, landing with a roll onto the sidewalk.
...he was practically comatose as the gravity of what just happened settled in his mind.
"Wasabi!" Ren ran over and hopped on his back.
âRen,â Wasabi laughed as she hopped on his back, reaching up to pat her head,
âWhatâs up, buddy?â
â {áŠ} âOh nothing muchâ she chimed happily as she kissed his cheek. âWhatâs up with you?â
He grinned warmly upon receiving the kiss, and did his best to reciprocate the affection by hugging her from where he was,
âNothing much, just working. You okay?â
â {áŠ} She slid off his back and stood beside him. âIâm great. Just happy that my finals are done. So what are you working on?â The brunette asked with a bright smile.
Wasabi smiled as wrapped an arm around her and rested it on her shoulder while shrugging in response to her question,
âCompiling a list of thesis statements that I could possibly use for next year. Best to be prepared, right? hehe..â
Âż?
âNo me hagas daño! Prometo que no sĂ© quiĂ©n metiĂł con tus cosas! Honestamente!â
âWait a secondâŠâ She paused, âWhy did you just speak Spanish?â The brunette didnât know much about Spanish, but some words sounded familiar. âIs that a new thing now when youâre scared.â Lauren couldnât help but smirk.
Wasabi shook his head,
âNo no. Mi culo de un amigo decidiĂł que serĂa divertido hacer involuntariamente hablar español para que conozca de largo. No puedo hablar una palabra de InglĂ©s! Y la gente casi no me entienden! Todo el calvario es frustrante!â
He paused for a second, giving her a wary look,
âasĂ que ⊠no vas a hacerme daño?â
â
Âż?
Wasabi walked up to Ren and hugged her from behind,
âRen, mi amiga, ÂżestĂĄs bien?â
â {áŠ} She blinked and cocked her head to the side. Suddenly, she got an idea and dug into her bag. Taking out a small white erase board and marker. âHere use this. Itâll be easierâ the young woman chuckled.
Hesitantly, Wasabi took the marker and board from her. In his mind, he wasnât sure that it would work. He spoke Spanish, and it seemed that only her knew what he was saying.
He wasnât sure if he would be able to write in English, especially since he was now involuntarily speaking Spanish. What if his writing had been affected as well?
/... Â vale la pena intentarlo.../
With a shrug, he set to work, writing on the board to see if the language barrier could be broken via the supplied means.Â
âDoes this work?
" Âż? "
Wasabi shoved his hands inside his pockets,
âVanellope! No sĂ© lo que ha pasado, pero de repente no puedo hablar una palabra de InglĂ©s. EstĂĄs bien?â
Wasabi stopped and stared at her for a moment.
WellâŠthat was certainly a guess.
He made a face and gently rotated his hand from side to side as if to say,
âkinda..yea..lets go with that.â
He scratched his head head as he searched for some way to continue. He shook his hands and the put them around his neck, before throwhing his hands out at his sides with a shrug that he hoped would somehow convey a feeling of helplessness or defeat.
âWait. You mean I actually got it right?â
Vanellope looked surprised. Sheâd more or less guessed right at Wasabiâs situation! Well, that was pretty awesome. Now she just had to figure out what to do about it. They couldnât really hold a conversation if one was speaking in a language that the other couldnât understand at all.
âAwesome that I got it right! But⊠Now whatâre we gonna do? I canât understand what youâre sayinâ, and I dunno how long youâre gonna be speakinâ like that,â Vanellope said. She brought her hand to her chin and thought for a moment. What could they do? She had used a notebook and written down what sheâd tried to say when sheâd had a voice stealing M!A, but that had gotten tiresome quickly. Maybe she could just keep guessing at what he was saying.
âShould we just keep talking and have me guess what youâre saying? Or dâyou wanna try something else? âCause I can only be right about what youâre tryinâ to say so many times,â she said.
Wasabi honestly had no clue.
At her suggestions, he shrugged and looked around,
â Honestamente, no tengo la menor idea. Tuve un par de llamadas que querĂa hacer, pero teniendo en cuenta las circunstancias, parece como si eso no va a suceder ...â
He sighed, taking a seat on a nearby jawbreaker,
âMe gustarĂa que hubiera alguna otra forma de poder comunicarse, de esa manera, tendrĂamos por lo menos tener la barrera del idioma roto.â
When Wasabi makes people cry, is it called a Wa-SOB-story?
âYou mean like the time Icarus lost his wings because he was hard-headed and flew too close to the sun? Especially when his father had told him NOT to?
That almost made me cry.â
âDerrick.â He sat up straight. âI sense Derrick.â
wasabis-no-singer:
Wasabi stared at Icarus for a moment beofre looking away,
ââŠnot funny, man..
..that was a low blow..â
âNoâŠreally. I sense his energy in the time stream again, WasabiâŠâ Blue eyes flickered.
âIâŠhe had a cold the day of the field trip. He didnât goâŠthe present is changingâŠâ
Wasabi wasnât in the mood for this right now, especially since his deceased brother was a touchy subject. He was so put out that he didnât notice the strange flicker in Icarusâ eyes.
âOkay dude, just stop! Okay? Not funny!
Jokes over! You got your revenge in!
You win, alright?!â
âWasabi, IâŠâ He trailed off as he felt a ripple in the time stream.
A figure appeared beside them, taking the form of a long-lost boy. He had aged slightly, a sophomore in high school.
âJustin?â Derrick asked his older brother.
Wasabi was so worked up that he almost didnât notice the figure emerging from the time anomaly.Â
He paused when he heard someone call his name.
He recognized that voiceâŠbutâŠit shouldnât haveâŠ
âŠHe shouldnât be hearing itâŠ
He slowly turned around, towards the direction of the voiceâŠand when he didâŠ
..he nearly fell apart..
ââŠD-Derick?â
The boy nodded, his face confused. âWhatâre you looking at me for? Youâre the one in the suit, big bro.â
The world immediately faded to grey as Wasabi slowly made his way for who appeared to be his brother, Derrick.
How could this be?
Derrick had died from a careless laser accident years ago, and even though is way hath miry been, Wasabi had come to terms with his brothers death, and essentially, moved on.
..so it was no surprise that Wasabi was a âlittleâ more than flabbergasted to see this young man who looked so much like Derrick, nearly convince him that he was indeed his brother...
..however, Logic was the only thing that kept Wasabi from accepting...although...it didnât keep him from coming in close...
âH-h-how? How,â the neatnik asked, gently placing his hands on the lads form, touching his face, shoulders, hands, desperately trying to find just one small piece of evidence that his mind was playing a trick on him. He only needed on, and yet...
he found none..
By natural law, this shouldnât have been happening...and yet, it was..
Why?
He would have loved for this to be true...
He WANTED it to be true...
He wanted his little brother back...
..but he knew that it couldnât be true...it just couldnât happen. It would go against every statute of logic, every mathematical rule.., every law of physics and natural science that he had studied...
It couldnât be true...could it?
Wasabi laughed as he proudly stuffed his hands inside his pockets,
âHopefully never. Iâve always been prepared, for everything! Nothinâs gonna get past me!â
âLetâs just hope something doesnât get past you.â Gogo wouldnât want such a thing to happy to Wasabi. Poor guy.
Wasabi chuckled and gently pat her shoulder,
âhehe, donât worry. Nothingâs gonna happen. Youâll still have me,â he teased, gently poking her shoulder.
The tall cloaked man stood in the darkest corner of the room, which wasn't very dark, watching the burly man work. Science had mystified him, perhaps now he can get clear on how it works. All he knew before hand was that it disregard magic, explaining it. Giving 'logical' explanations to what people see as magic. Stupid idea to him really. But he wasn't here to criticize it. "What exactly is science?"
Wasabi hadnât yet sensed the presence of the other in the room, so when the cloaked man spoke, he nearly jumped.
He lifted his head up and turned in the direction that he had heard the voice, seeing the cloaked man standing there.
Rather odd lookingâŠif not dark..
Wasabi was no one to judge. He might have been a cosplayer of sorts..
âWoah..didnât see you there.â
He smirked a little. This wouldnât have been the first time he had met such an strange and mysterious individual.
âYou want the full denotation or the short laymenâs terms definition?â
âMagic?â
Wasabi raised an eyebrow again, studying Ghadius silently, a gentle grin forming on his features.
After a few seconds of silence, he shrugged, looking back down to his tools, then up to the man,
âI donât know..it seems to be a deliberate manipulation of the natural laws we have come to know through science.
Most people donât believe in it.
Some do, and some are not sure.
Me? Itâs in the place where I see it as relativeâŠâ
He gave Ghadius a sort of knowing/searching grin.
âFor example, the level of reality that the validation of magic seems to so constantly fall under is determined by what âdimensionâ youâre from.
Another example, one wouldnât really be quick to classify something as âmagicalâ because magic doesnât really exist here..
If they see something happen, they attribute it to science.
However, I find it rather odd that if one ventures from a dimension where it does exist and is commonly practiced, it can, by some strange reason, happen here. Though, not as they would expect it.
To be direct, âmagicâ doesnât exist hereâŠand yet it seems..â
He thought about it for a moment before shrugging,
âWho knows..maybe the difference might only be in the nomenclature. What you may know as magic, we know as scienceâŠâ
Now this was more understandable to the Dark King. He understood the oddities of dimensional travel. Or world traveling as He preferred it. The differences in terms. And the differences in the composition of the world. That was something he knew well. Very well.
âWell then, what do you attribute this to?â As he spoke, the few shadows in the room began moving. They moved out of where the shadows should logically be, expanding greatly is size.
Then, they started to rise up. Instead of just being a blotch on the wall or floor, they started to become three dimension creations.
While none of them possessed any reconisable forms, being more of blobs than anything else. One could touch them, could feel the shadows that make them up.
âIs that science?â
Wasabi watched as Ghadius produced the living shadows, rather amazed at what was taking place in front of him.
It was not the first time that he had seen something like this done, but it was still amazing, nonetheless.Â
âIâd say thatâs weirdâŠand coolâŠâ
ââŠbut also, not the first time Iâve seen it done from a scientific approach..â
Really, this person had seen shadow manipulation beforeâŠAnd through science. So who else could control Ghadiusâs darkness?
âAnd who was it whom could control Shadows?â
At this one of them, only one, had a shape change. instead of remaining a large blob, it shrunk. Greatly, to the size of a cat and even had four legs like one. Though it clearly wasnât such a creature as ridges of two wings were visible on it sides. Itâs neck was much longer, as with itâs tail that pointed sharply.
âWhom else has this power over my subjects?â
Wasabi shrugged smiled as he tried to recall the faces of the subjects, relative.
âWell, it might not have have been direct and potent, like your powers appear to be, but she did appear to have a small degree of control.
He name is frost, and she is moon sprite. She, and her kind, are known to be the among most powerful of the fairies. Hers was magic.
In regards to what we know as science,
We usually call it special Cinemographic effects, where only we use lots of light, and a green screen to achieve this.â
Of course, Wasabi was only joking. That wasnât the real scientific way to achieve what Ghadius clearly had done on a whim.
âEy Kitty lets pway aâwich!â Stevie cries as she walks over to Wasabi excitedly. Aâwich was her way of saying sandwich and in turn sandwich was what she called wrestling. So aka she was asking Wasabi if he would like to wrestle with her. (ellooooooo bruh i missed your face)
((IâVE MISSED..YOUâRE FACE!!!))
Wasabi grinned as he crouched down in front of Stevie and ruffled her hair,
âStevie wants to play sandwich with Uncle Sabi? I I dunnoâŠ
I dunno if Uncle Sabi has what it takes to stand up to little Stevie..
Stevie is too strong, hehe.â
Wasabi laughed as he let Stevie hop onto his back and shower his cheek and neck with kisses. In turn, amidst his laughing, he playfully pretended to cry out in agony and submission in hopes to placate his opponent.
âAhhh, haha, no! Please! Have mercy!â
Stevie laughs as well in response to Wasabiâs fake cries of agony.
âHehehe, never!â she giggles as she rests her head upon his hair âHaha, your hair soft.â
She runs her fingers through his dreads, laughing as she does. Stevieâs eyes then spark up with current memory of something.
âEy kitty, I donât think I ever toad you about how I broke my arm. Do you wanna hear about how I broke my arm?!â
Oh yes the girl did have a broken bone, a broken right wrist to be exact. Gogo did touch on the subject just a little: the cause of the break had something to do with Stevie rough housing with someone.
Maybe that was why she seemed so proud of her broken wrist. She had a cool looking cast that was yellow with black stripes. It was kinda funny considering that it looked a lot like Gogoâs supersuit. It was even more ironic since Stevie knew nothing of everyoneâs past lives as super heros.
Wasabi chuckled as she played with his hair, resting his chin on his arms as she begins to speak again, recalling the time when she broke her arm.
Wasabi cocked on eyebrow, giving her a rather confused somewhat nervous look. How on earth did she manage to break her arm? She was five, for heavens sake!
How on earth did this happen?..
âŠbetter yetâŠI donât even want to knowâŠ
ââŠno..You never told Sabi how litttle Tevvy broke her arm?â
Tevvy, or more accurately spelled, âTevieâ was the little nickname that he had come up with for her. He thought it nice to reciprocate the gesture since she had decided to affectionately refer to him as. âkittyâ from now on.
