HC. in the apocalypse movie when peter’s mom comes in to find peter playing pacman, he’d just finished having a panic attack. with super speed the world moves slower and while he gets used to it, he gets bored and that’s a lot of time without feeling like reading comics, playing games and eating. it’s a lot of time with negative thoughts. was he doing anything when the scene starts? no. he was sitting there.. head down as the tv played a story on erik, a rough subject for him. when peter, a guy with speeds unheard of and the ability to process information faster than a computer is just SITTING and not even reading… with his head down… you bet your ass he’s battling with his own negative thoughts. and you bet your ass he plastered on a face for his mom. he’s PERFECTED that skill. his face says he’s fine but his heart is beating so LIKE A MACHINE GUN.

HC STEALING.

he does in fact, like charles said, have kleptomania. peter’s habit for taking stuff that doesn’t belong to him began with him discovering how to fully control his mutation and using it to steal wallets to help his mother pay for the house. now, while peter is good guy deep down kleptomania doesn’t just start from only stealing for your mom. he abused his mutation because he could get whatever he wanted and didn’t get caught. at the age of 16-17  ( days of future past time ) it’s clear that peter steals way more than what he needs. you can see at least twenty t.v’s and shelves full of little debbie treats ( those are most likely from his need for calories )  whenever he goes out he now has an almost reflexive need to steal. being a 17 year old little shit he doesn’t really care. however ten years later he’s actually grown up some and knows deeeeep down stealing is wrong. events occur in his teen years to add to his self loathing and depression and every week he looks at the crap he’s taken without thinking and it makes him feel worse. peter tries his best to manage it himself but his mother has to be the one to step in and tell him to take things back.  his urge to steal is one reason he still lives in his mom’s basement, somewhere in his head he’s terrified of living on his own and being suffocated by all the shit he’d steal without cause. ( that and he loves his mom and feels the need to protect her but that’s for another headcanon )
