I’ve come across a lot more free time now that the world is at.. uh.. a standstill. 

SO now I have time for more roleplaying! I’d love some recommendations (or tbh if you want a thread lemme know too ok) +++ I’ve been checking out rps and lemme just say that the teeny tiny container themes need to end at some point yall I can’t b squinting for 4 whole ass paragraphs and feel ok

James looked over as the other began hugging his arm. “No. The PDA is…. nice.” He shrugged slightly, ducking his head and looking at his feet as they walked. It honestly felt good to have a guy who wanted to touch him like that. It made his entire body thrum with excitement. “Well you’ve just listed my entire type. The blonde hair, blue eyed, pale, tall guys are exactly what I like.” He chuckled softly and smiled at the other and ran his fingers through his curly hair. “Right now? Wicked. And I suppose you just have to be a good date? I mean I wouldn’t mind having you come to the show, though I don’t often get tickets of my own.”

The confirmation only made him want to move closer, resting his chin upon the man’s shoulder while they waited for the light to turn green again. Harper could see the burger joint ahead and his stomach almost jumped with glee; the blonde felt himself bounce a little on the balls of his feet when he realized that it was wonderfully decorated like it was pulled straight out of the 50s, chocolate shakes and jukeboxes and all.  “Oh? That’s all I have to do? One good date comin’ up!” He chirped, dragging the other through the crosswalk and towards their destination. They were seated promptly (after a few small compliments to the giggling hostess) and after 3 minutes of browsing, Harper already found what he wanted. The blonde spent the rest of his time peeking at his date from over the top of his menu, his blue eyes trailing over his features before he reached out, straightened a loose curl from its misplaced spot upon James’ forehead, then glanced back down at the menu.  “So since you’ve been fucking guys since high school, what made you come out how? Did you realize that how you felt towards men was more than just sexual?”

James could see the other’s reaction to the word Broadway and he gave a soft laugh. “I’m a stagehand. I build sets and shit like that.” He smiled at the other,  wanting to answer a question that he was certain that Harper had. “Swoon all you want. Though I can’t promise I’ll be able to catch you every time. I’m not exactly athletic.” He watched the other’s reaction. “I mean as far as dating, yeah…. But I’ve been fucking dudes since high school. Just not… You know. Openly.” He laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. He wasn’t sure if that was the wrong thing to say. “Na, no pressure. You’re like… a million times hotter than most guys I talk to. So going on a date with you is pretty impressive on its own.

A stagehand-- Harper can imagine that, especially after peeking at the man’s arms and noticing the slight bulging of muscles beneath the fabric of his clothing. Almost impulsively, he wrapped his arm around the other’s bicep and gave him an excited smile. “Tell me when the PDA is too much. I’m a really touchy person and I’d understand if it’s a bit too much for someone who hadn’t been open for so long.” The blonde paused at the next red light, realizing that they’ve walked out to the outside of the gay bar district. “So are you into the blonde type? Blue eyes? Pale? Tall? Great smile?” He winked, “What do I have to do to score tickets to whatever show you’re workin’ on right now?”

The stagehand laughed and nodded his head. “Well I’m glad I can free you from your temporary state of vegetarianism.” He tilted his head. “Interpretive dance… Ugh. I know some people who do both that and slam poetry. They’re the worst.” Jeremy worked with some fairly annoying actors on a day to day basis. It was only exacerbated by his own desire to go unnoticed at work which was made difficult when they wanted nothing more than to talk all day. Jeremy raised his eyebrows at the other’s offers of where he might know him. “I’m not sure… I mean I don’t go to a lot of parties. And unless you’re on Broadway, I don’t know why you’d be at my work.” He laughed softly. “I’ve never actually had a boyfriend before.” He wondered if that sounded bad. “I um… Only came out like a few months ago.”

“You definitely did, my prince in shining Converses. I feel a swoon coming on, but I’ll save it for later,” Harper grinned, giving the man’s shoulder a small bump with his elbow. The mention of Broadway made him raise his brows in curiosity. James didn’t seem the type to be around anything song and dance, but the other could’ve been preaching free love and essential oils during his down time.  And then a confession. Harper’s pace slowed a little, giving him the time to process the entirety of the words before he continued. “Am I one of the first guys? Because I feel like I should be doing a better job at being your date. No pressure, no pressure,” he joked.

James smiled at the other and shrugged slightly. “I’m not busy. Although we’re not going to slam poetry no matter how much clothes we do or don’t have one.” He shook his head, running his fingers through his hair and pushing it back. “How about we go to this burger joint nearby? It’s pretty quiet and the food is amazing.” It was also super casual so James was hoping that there would be a lot less pressure. “I know this sounds kind of stupid, but I feel like I’ve met you before. Something about you is just super familiar.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “And that’s not just some shitty pick up line. He finished his cigarette, tossing it onto the ground of the alley and stamping it out.

Harper laughed and gave him a small nod, putting out his cigarette as well. “No slam poetry, got it. Interpretive dance is still on the table though, huh? I think the burger joint is a great idea; I haven’t had real, delicious food in a while. All I’ve had recently is, like.. bunny food. Veggies and stuff. Awful and bland.” But very good for detoxing right before one of his important videos. After all, nobody’s going to pay him if he looked bloated and covered in acne. Speaking of his occupation....  The blonde smiled at the other innocently, falling into the same walking rhythm as the other. “Do you mean at a party or at work or something? There’s a lot of gay, blonde boys in New York, you know; I’m not as original as you may think. Maybe I look like an ex? I’ve gotten that too from some people.”

      Scott’s gaze flickered toward the ceiling. “What a lost opportunity,” he scoffed. Still, his curious eyes betrayed him, glancing over at the distracted blonde. Deep, blue eyes; soft, pouty lips. If only those same lush lips didn’t open and spout poison, he might have even considered him attractive. No matter how pretty someone might be, Scott could never stand being intimate with someone so vile.

       Besides, the prince looked like what the locals here called a pillow princess.

      He rolled his eyes. It had barely been a day and this commitment was already feeling far too drawn out. “Not quite. You would love that, wouldn’t you?” Scott withdrew his hand from his pocket and made a waving gesture. “Here, give me your phone. I’ll put my number in. Then you can call in case of an emergency.” Hopefully it would only be in emergencies. The corner of his mouth lifted up into a smirk. “I’ll respond a lot faster than by carrier pigeon.” 

        The sardonic smile melted off his lips at the unexpectedly kind gesture, and he took the offered box with a look of wide-eyed awe. “These are from Hietzing,” he breathed, running his fingers over the top of the silver tin. The Queen had offered him a chocolate truffle from there when he was a child; he’d never tasted anything so sweet and decadent. Scott looked up at the prince, jaw slackened in disbelief. “How did you know?” 

Even though his smile was slightly sarcastic, his eyes betrayed him. Harper awkwardly let go of the tin box and reached into his pocket as well, placing his phone on top of it before he returned to his bags. The prince busied himself with unloading 1/10th of his wardrobe, glancing ever so often over his shoulder to see if the guard was done drooling over the box instead of tasting the contents. “They’re infamous; of course I would choose those. They’re exclusive, by the way. They only make 50 sets of those a year. Don’t be stingy either; you know chocolate tastes funny after a month or so,” He mumbled. With a deep breath, he placed his hands on his hips and looked around his room with a deep frown.  “If you’re done making love to the chocolate with your eyes, I’d really appreciate some help. I have to get ready for dinner and I have NOTHING to wear.” His pale eyes found Scott’s and for a moment, his expression changed to something a bit more vulnerable; he looked nervous, scared and very much uncomfortable with his new room.

James tilted his head and walked towards the other, standing in front of him instead of sitting. “I’m not good at asking people out.” He let his eyes trail over the other’s face. The other’s flirting clearly caused his cheeks to turn a bit pink, but he had no other reaction. Truth be told, James was a lot better when he wasn’t in person. Talking was something that the man struggled with.

“You’re just as handsome as I thought… which is a lot.” He licked over his lips, shrugging slightly. “I was going to… probably.” He shrugged. The prospect of asking the other out sounded absolutely terrifying.

“Yeah, I understand that completely. That’s why I’ve been single for an almost embarrassingly long amount of time.” Both his occupation and his hunger for love have driven most well to do men out of his life, leaving the remnant pockets of criminals, liars and smooth talking Casanovas to snatch up his heart—but he’s found solace in bad boys, it seemed, and it was slightly jarring to break the cycle with his dive into the love pool one last time. Tinder might’ve been a horrible place to start, but he found James, didn’t he? James, who almost looked slightly shaded rose under the dim streetlight. The man’s compliment made Harper’s smile grow warmer, as if he was a modern Tinkerbell who fed off of applause and flattery. The blonde’s long lashes concealed his gaze fixated on the growing cherry of his cigarette before he suddenly raised his head.   “If you’re not busy tonight...” He extended his hand out towards the other, “Hi, I’m Harper. Would you like to go on a date with me? We can get a drink or a bite to eat or—if you’re more interested in the hipster places ‘round here, my friend keeps inviting me to some slam poetry session at this ‘clothing optional’ café and I’ve always been curious to see how they’d feel so bold to be nude near hot coffee.”

James could feel the moments inching by, second by second. He wasn’t sure why the other wasn’t answering. Had he put his foot in his mouth some how. But then the stranger was talking. And not just talking, but flirting. James leaned back against the wall, and gave a small smile. “Oh… Shit. I totally do know you.” He was certain he had heard the other’s voice. But having the other call him loverboy gave it away. His hand dropped to his phone, giving an awkward chuckle. “You’re uh… The guy on Tindr, right?” He could have swore he knew the other’s voice, but couldn’t quite place that. Admittedly it was because most of the time he was hearing it, Harper was being fucked or jacking himself off. Either way, There were loads of moaning and Harper was wearing a lot less than he was right now. Between that and the dark lighting, James had no real chance of guessing just how exactly he knew the other’s voice.

Harper’s only reply was a simpering smile and the flicker of fire as the flame licked at the tip of his cigarette. He waited for a dawning realization—sometimes leading to outright disgust, other times eliciting an almost hypnotic allure that left the other hungry for their own personal experience. Instead, James mentioned Tinder instead.   At this, his heart fluttered slightly and he felt his muscles untense.   “James, right?” He replied, giving the armrest he was sitting on a gentle pat, almost invitingly so, “You’ve got to find better angles or a nicer phone ‘cause your pictures don’t do you justice.” His blue eyes found the other’s again.   “Were you going to ask me out at some point, or is this actually supposed to be way more awkward?” Harper teased softly.

“Pathetic?” The word surprised her more than it should’ve. With a wave of her hand and a look of subtle sorrow on her face, she tried again. “Oh, no, no, no ! Not pathetic, just lonely!” As if those few words explained everything, she continued on. “I didn’t see it in the clouds, no. But,” She remarks, holding up a finger as to tell him to hold on. Digging in the bag slung on her shoulder, she pulls out a small little book that resembles a photo album. “I have a portfolio of your past loves right here in my handy-dandy notebook. I’ve done some research and I’m ready to go whenever you are, human.”

He felt pathetic and lonely definitely went hand in hand, but the chipper Cupid was already bursting with optimism and happiness that Harper swallowed his words and watched her dig around in her baggie. A notebook was conjured and an explanation was uttered with enthusiasm; Harper took this time to peer at the little book and huffed, crossing his arms protectively over his chest as if the object offended him in some way. “Oh, all of my exes, huh?” The blonde made a face, “I’m really glad you’re well read in my love life, but honestly, I don’t know if I want to add any more pages to that book. It’s a novel at the moment and I’m inclined to stop searching before it turns into a full on series. What sort of research did you do and what do you mean ‘you’re ready to go’?”

Well, this was going to be a nightmare. So much for Cole to remember, he was bound to fuck it up for sure. But to keep an appearance of not being a forgetful fuck, he simply nodded. “Got it.” Her questioned pulled a laugh from his chest. Her options of reward were… interesting but he had no need for either. “A nude? Really?” He rolled his eyes shaking his head. “I’ll settle for a pack of smokes and blow job.” He was only half teasing at the last bit. “Blow job optional, we’ll see how it goes.” He winked, now opening to door for her. He assumed it was now time to start playing the part of a gentleman. “You’re lucky we’re friends and you’re attractive or this wouldn’t be happening.” He stated, climbing in after her. 

Long legs attempted to stretch out, always feeling a tad bit cramped in vehicles. “Am I required to make much conversation? I’m going to warn you right now, I’m awful at shit like this.” 

She let out a soft laugh at his suggestions and faced him with a pseudo serious expression. “The only reason why I’d be on my knees is to pray to the Heavenly Father, Cole. Nice of you to assume I’d ever suckle the Devil’s appendage.” As soon as her red bottoms hit the outside pavement, she straightened herself once she stood and resumed her position among the elite. Hell, Scarlet looked the part even if the man next to her didn’t. She reached out and placed a hand upon his arm, as if physically touching the taller brunette would elevate his social status by a couple of notches. The hand then slid down, entwining her fingers with his as she led him up the stone steps and into the reception hall for the grand opening of the art exhibition.   “I don’t expect you to make conversation, but don’t stare at someone in complete silence and creep them out either. Just—act natural. You look good. You smell good. Pretend to belong,” She passed a champagne flute to him and smiled, “Did you call me attractive a few minutes ago? Sly. I would’ve expected a slap on the ass and a whistle but this is definitely a nice change.”

James was leaning up against he wall of the alley, lighting his cigarette with a small hum. Feeling eyes on him, James looked up and gave a large exhale, a cloud of smoke appearing from his mouth. “What’re you lookin-” He paused, brows furrowed. “Do I know you from somewhere?” James didn’t get out very often. And it was even less so that he went to a gay bar. While he may have been out, he gave little to no insight into who he was when he wasn’t at work. “You uh… Look familiar.” James wasn’t sure if he was forgetful, or just looking for an excuse to talk to the other.

It was really unfortunate that he would’ve met the other in an alley of all places, right between the grimey trash can from the Chinese restaurant next door and a suspicious looking couch on the other side. He was actually looking forward to further messages with him on Tinder-- what they’ve chatted over recently was far more interesting than the brainless dick pics he’s gotten after a few dry phrases and an abundance of eggplant emojis. Normally, he would’ve mentioned his occupation before the first date, but since they weren’t even at that point yet...  Did he recognize him from Tinder or from the porn websites? Deciding that staring at the poor guy was probably making him seem more like a weirdo with each passing second, Harper eased into a small smile and leaned against the armrest of the couch, reaching into own pocket for his own pack of cigarettes. “Maybe I just have one of those faces,” he murmured, blue eyes trailing back up at James, “Or did you see me in your dreams, loverboy?”

Reina ignored the spilled ink for a moment grabbing the girl’s hand without much care. She turned her hand over trying to gauge the origin of the ring, Reina lifted the eyepiece she kept around her neck pulling the hand as close as she could. A sudden laugh erupted from her lips, she dropped the eyepiece and the girl’s hand, throwing her head back at the sudden realisation of what exactly the girl was wearing.

“No curse,” she said between huffs of laughter, a bit cruel perhaps to be laughing so openly. Reina wheezed for a moment grabbing the edge of the counter for support. “Those, that” she pointed to the girl’s ring. “There is no curse on it because the metal itself is hexed.”

Reina let out another laugh getting up from her stool. She moved about the shop with ease despite its piles and stacks of books and objects. She came back a moment later with a book pulling her wand out from her sleeve. 

“The metal from which the ring was crafted was forged in some fire by some lake yada yada witches you know the type.” She set the heavy book down on the counter with a thud slowly thumbing through the pages. “Might as well take a seat, it’s going to take a few hours to get that thing of you if it’s possible. Those type of rings were never meant to be a gift, they were a curse, a prank of sorts.”

The woman’s roughness was unexpected, however, Scarlet swallowed down her sharp, verbal bite and allowed the other to inspect her ring. Laughter was not infectious, not in the slightest. She watched the other disappear between the crooked hallways made of dusty boxes and stacked items until she returned with a heavy book and an antidote that was more poisonous than soothing. She stared at the silver ring with disdain, giving it a small tug just to test her luck. “What do you mean it’s hexed? How is this considered a prank? Did someone forget to put a warning label on the box or was someone just too incompetent to de-hex the bloody thing before it was put up for resale?” Hours did not sound like a good time, but the brunette had already come so far and sank so much time in hounding down the exact store his father visited. Scarlet pressed her red lips together and reached for her wand in her cloak, giving the counter a small tap and mumble before a glass of Butterbeer appeared, ready to be consumed for the sake of cooling down tempers. “So what are the conditions? The longer the eye contact, the stronger the infatuation? Can I tell them to fuck off and expect them outside my window, reciting poetry?”

“I could hear your heartbeat from the clouds, you know,” Cupid said with a wink. She’d descended from the heavens only days ago, and the moment she’d broken the plane barrier, she could hear all the lonely hearts and their rhythms. This one, though, was especially loud and it had led her all the way to them. They were lonely and in need of love and that’s just what Cupid was here for. “But no worries. I’m here now, and we’ll fix that little box in your chest in no time.”

If he was one thing it would have to be loud-- loud spirited, passionate, unashamedly brash and incredibly spontaneous to the point where his heart was kept together with scotch tape and hopes. Harper rested his chin on his knee as he eyed the woman warily, as if fearing her existence proved that he was truly hopeless without divine intervention.  It’s true, though, isn’t it? Why else would she be here besides giving him a bit of a confidence boost and a few nice words? It wasn’t that he had trouble finding somebody-- he was just a sucker for bad boys, the ones who carried a chain littered with bits and pieces of hearts they’ve broken. At last, he found his voice.  “Am I that pathetic that I need my own personal Cupid?” the blonde’s expression melted into cynical amusement, “Did you get to see all of my horrible romantic history in the clouds, too, or should I make a portfolio?”

To say Jess was a complicated individual was the understatement of the century. His way of thinking was set in stone, or so it seemed– it rarely swayed from the habits he was used to retrieving back to, but in this case as much as he wanted to distract his racing mind for a little while and indulge in the attention of the female opposite him, the topic in hand had struck some kind of nerve. Vexation and Jess were more than friends at this point, they’d been together for as long as he could remember and with his patience wearing thin he shook his head, dismissing her ploy for him to play into their little game. “I can’t.. I gotta get ready for work.” 

She was in the process of sliding the sleeves of the sweatshirt over her arms when the man decided to do a 180. Was it the questioning? Was it because the process of small talk turning into unabashed banging being far too long for Jess to bother?  Scarlet’s gaze on him was fixed, calculating and completely void of expressing her frustration. “Shame,” the girl declared, peeling her eyes from the vision in black and reaching for her phone, “You have any recommendations for someone to take your spot?”
