Going through FIRE: What has it thought me?
Exactly a year ago today, my biological and church family went through fire. Our church compound where my family lived for many years now, caught fire very late at night on Oct 1, 2019. (I wrote a separate blog on our whole experience here.)
For this blog, I want to share what a year has thought me after experiencing loss and tragedy.
#1 thing I learned… God speaks even in the midst loss…

Through the FIRE.
Exactly one month ago today, I almost lost my family to fire. Our church compound where my family lives caught fire at around 2 in the morning. If you’ve been to our place you will know that we have several buildings. The one that caught fire was the office, SUM Bible school area, our kitchen, and main church building.
The office and Bible school including my dad’s car – everything from the top…

Turning a year older is always a mix of feelings for me. Grateful for the life that is a blessing from God and excited for what is to come. #thereismore
Although, fear of the future is something that would also try to creep in my mind. Today, the Lord has reminded me, through His word… that it is He who makes my path…

I don’t know about you but I like upgrades. Who doesn’t like it, right?
An airplane seat upgrade is a dream! That random extra Starbucks drink I experienced one time was such a delight and getting free pass to the cinema was so much fun!
But in the world we live in today, where self-promotion is a common thing. It’s easy to get caught up in the system of posting, liking, and “promoting”…

When life gives you lemons.
When life gives you lemons.
We are at an era where people have the liberty to say whatever they want and are “entitled” to give whatever opinion they choose, (mostly unsolicited) with little thought to what the other party might feel, might be going through, and how it could harm and affect them. How do we react to this? What can be our response to this? How can God’s wisdom and presence provide comfort in the midst of…

My #KarenTribe experience.
Around this time last year, I was in the beautiful city of MaeSot, Thailand. :)
Our journey began as we take the 10-hour bus ride from Bangkok. I was joined by 4 other young adults from the Filipino church I was part of in Bangkok. We took the double deck bus which was cool!
We arrived in MaeSot very early morning, but very excited for what that weekend had to offer.
I joined a Filipino missions team bring Christmas cheer in the Karen Tribe which was literally in the mountains! We went from passing through one mountain to another, crossed by at least 3 bodies of water and it felt like forever! But when we finally got there it was all worth it!
(at one point we had to walk because our car couldn’t hike up)
(The Village)
We were greeted by a night prayer welcome service. We sang songs and introduced ourselves to the tribal church. (It was so uplifting to see the whole tribe worship Jesus in their language)
Young ladies singing at the church. Wearing their traditional wear - for singles!
(Sawadee ka - Chan chue Mizpah)
(Yep we had an impromptu song number haha)
(visiting homes)
Toys for the village kids! #MerryChristmas
(Our team - all smiles after they gave us these bags)
(Karen tribe traditional wear)
(Visiting village grandmas :)
As 2017 comes to an end, we can have a joyful expectation that the BEST is yet to come. I loved my time at Maesot ministering to the #KarenTribe and many more fruitful adventures this year! BUT the better news is that there is MORE. What a blessing!
Have a blessed new year, ya’ll! (Jubilee year - 2018!)

He knows me.

Truth be told, I don't feel "chill" about life stuff all the time.I worry. I panic. I think too much. I'm a woman. (sometimes its really just those hormones. 🤷♀️ HAHA)
“LOVE has called my name” is a line I’ve heard and sing of SO many times. You probably have heard of it too. But it was this afternoon as I was trying to finish some of my deadlines that it resonated in my heart. For some reason, as I overheard it from my brother's playlist I was reminded that He knows me. ❤️
Simple as that but SO much truth. Thank you, Jesus!
I get so occupied with school stuff and adult responsibilities sometimes but its so so sweet to be reminded that
He thinks of me and knows me.
I pray that as you go along with your week, amidst all the Christmas rush, that we may never lose sight of who He is and how he thinks of you. All it takes really is a moment where you turn your attention to Him.
Now, I've got all the reason to believe the opposite of how I felt today because duh "Love" Himself has called my name.
Now, back to writing those exegeses! 🙄😉
**What song is this line from? #LovehasCalledmyName ;)

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)
These past few weeks there are two words that stood out in my heart. INTENTIONAL and CONSISTENT. This is what I want to write about today. The scripture from Isaiah 30:21 speaks so much of how these two words impact me now. These two words seem to have gotten stuck in my head ever since I heard a friend share it with my youth group a few weeks ago. I'm not sure why but as I continue to meditate I realized God is trying to convey something in my heart.
It hit me hard after listening to this friend share about his vision and just the story of his ministry. It wasn’t even like these two words was his topic. I just got the spirit behind what he was saying - intentionality and consistency.
A week later, I went on a trip to Manila to attend a conference at my former Bible school. As I got to listen and sit under my leaders then the same words started to rise in my heart (even when that wasn’t really the topic). Ptr.Joe was talking about FAITH being the currency in the kingdom of God and how we all need faith to get access to everything that God has for us. How do we get faith then? We feed FAITH! (intentional and consistent!!)
I got home in Naga sat on our church pastoral team meeting and the same words came out of our pastor’s instruction for the church ministry for the rest of 2017. Co-incidence? I don’t think so.
I’ve only been home from Thailand 12 weeks now, still at a strange place being “home” but love every bit of opportunity I get to eat home’s cooking!! HAHA Although ever since I came home or even before flying home I really fervently prayed for Him to show me what I will do when I get here. So I’m not that surprised that I actually get answered prayer. *wink
After all, these events, I think the message is clear... be intentional serve him well here and be consistent enjoying the season. I’m not saying we’re led by “words” or events all I’m saying is at this time I feel in my heart a peace on the answered prayer I’ve been waiting for. I will carry these two words as I walk through this season from helping out serving the youth ministry, kids church, the Bible school and just simple acts of service here and there. I feel so challenged because I have been all over SoutEast Asia since September last year. I was volunteering in countries and places I’ve never even imagined I will ever reach, but right now I feel like God is telling me to be more intentional and consistent with everything that I do for him even here at home.
I love how God leads me and even more how I can identify them now. 😅 😜 HAHA
Just thought I’d share the story of these two words with you guys and hopefully encourage you to never disregard even the simplest of detail because that might just be what God is telling you. There is no formula to faith or following God. We really learn as we GO, as we take a step of obedience. That’s how we develop hearing ears to what He is saying. I’m not saying I perfect this already because obviously I myself is in that daily pursuit of His leading. But God is not mystical and He doesn’t intend to hide things from us. He is ever calling us and really love for us to obey Him. I pray that for the next half of this year that we may all walk with that identity that He is leading us and He is building us strong. You probably heard this before but I’ll say it anyway “The BEST is yet to come!” really there is so much truth to this. I may not be EXACTLY WHERE I WANT TO BE BUT I THANK GOD IM NOT WHERE I USED TO BE. (insert Ptr.Steve Furtick’s voice! HAHA) I’m excited where else this journey will take me. I serve a faithful God. We serve a faithful God!
“God is faithful [He is reliable, trustworthy and ever true to His promise—He can be depended on], and through Him you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 (AMP)
Love you guys always,

The Suitor
Hey everyone, it has been a long time now since I last wrote and posted a blog. A lot of has occurred, a new year has come and life continues.
This time tho I want to write about a very personal reflection of what God has been communicating in my heart. I pray that as you read along, you will be ministered, refreshed, and touched by the words I will share with you below.
The word suitor when defined in the dictionary means “a man who pursues a relationship with a particular woman, with a view to marriage”, basically someone who pursues another! I come from a culture who highlights courtship very much. As a young girl, I’ve always imagined how it would feel like having someone pursue you like my older girl cousins and church friends have. I mean, who doesn’t like free stuff right? HAHA
That was what my limited knowledge and expectation of it then. Of course, as you walk through life you learn it’s not only about the free stuff. This process of pursuit grows and develops into an intimacy which is one strong foundation to a solid relationship. (1 Corinthians 1:9)
I say that this is very personal because this message spoke strongly in my heart and my pursuit of God. Especially in this season of my life where I am in a new place doing new things, around new people. For someone like me who has been in the ministry for quite some time now (basically grew up in church!) this “you pursue God” thing as part of a good, thriving, healthy Christian life is not new at all.
This is a very important truth, but I (you too believe me) tends to have a default towards our pursuit and love of God. We have a fascination with what we can do to please God basically “self-effort” to please Him. To pursue God is very Biblical, yes! What I used to hear from godly people speaking to me over the years were exhortations from Scripture to follow hard after Him (Psalm 62:5), to seek Him diligently, to devote my heart to Him…and then He would reward me (Hebrews 11:6). But my love and pursuit needed to be my response to God because of Him first loving me, Him empowering that pursuit by Him living His life in me.
Like what I said I’m a certified church girl. I love doing the things of God and being surrounded with people who loves the Lord. But I think sometimes we become too attached to the “activities” that we do for Him that we forget the very reason why we can do it. I think I reached that point in my life at some point during this season. (Okay now, I’m being vulnerable! haha) Like, I got tired! Tired of stuff haha. If the emphasis is on our seeking Him, we can march as a soldier to the steps of obedience, endurance and duty alone. That is very tiresome believe me! We begin to lose our joy and delight in walking with God and focus on what we are to do in the Christian life rather than the joy of being a beloved child in whom Christ lives and works. (Been there!!) We can overlook the Spirit’s vital role, His divine resources and His supernatural empowering. With the focus on being an enduring soldier, we can miss the fact that He radically loves us and wants us to enjoy all things as His child
As people of God whether or not in the ministry our true identity is found not in what we do for Christ, how hard we pursue Him, or how others view us. But rather it is found in our belonging to Jesus Christ, whom God says we are (a beloved son or daughter of His), and how God sees us now in Christ. Our identity stems from an authentic relationship with God that He initiated in love.
These truths have been haunting me for weeks now (in a good way!)– that God is and has been pursuing me with His radical love all my life! (WOW) Just when I thought I figured it out already... He’s got MORE!
Just when I thought I was done and tired. Here He is calling my name AGAIN. Speaking in my heart during random times in my day and even sleepless nights just feeling an eeky thing on the inside I know the Holy Spirit calling me out. Hearing preachers that speak straight to my heart giving clearer perspective to the things God is telling me during those sleepless nights! (Ptr.Steven Furtick!! Whooohoo #ShamelessPlug)
Yes our pursuit of Him is important, but what’s most important is our response to His first loving us (2 Corinthians 5:14; 1 John 4:19).
It is easy to believe that the Christian life is all up to us. Yet even godly men and women get tired of chasing after God. (hands up!) God’s pursuit of you and me has absolutely nothing to do with our level of obedience, our righteousness, or dedication to spiritual disciples. It has never been about our faithfulness to God; it’s about His faithfulness. Spiritual disciplines do not activate God’s love for us or cause Him to come closer to us. God is the heavyweight in the Christian life. It is about His strength, His ability, His love, His longing, His resolve to stay in a relationship with us. God longs for an intimate relationship even more than we do. Capturing our heart with His love is one of God’s all-consuming passions that is constantly in His thoughts. (There is a spiritual balance and discipline needed for this but I’ll write that for next time. #GraceWithoutDiscipline haha *wink )
God’s love for me, His pursuit and value in me, His powerful role in my living the Christian life…that He not only chases after me but never takes His eyes off me. We are being sought after and pursued by a “SUITOR” --- God.
God is pursuing you and me. And it’s not about self-effort to be near him! It’s He who desired, longs, and so relentlessly calls us out to be with Him.
It takes faith to see the things of God. And I’m sure is glad to be back on track seeing better on what’s ahead. #GodisFAITHFUL
