summary: Eddie and Buck go to the Lakers game. They don't expect the kiss cam.
βI think these tickets are cursed.β
Eddie glances up from his strawberry milkshake β aΒ milkshake, and not even vanilla! β and focuses on Buckβs forlorn expression. The scowl on his face is just on the edge of frustration more than heartbreak, which is an improvement over the past two weeks since the break up. The pair of Lakers tickets in his hand are discarded onto the table in front of Eddie.
βWhy are they cursed?β Eddie questions as Buck slides into the chair opposite him and lets out a deep sigh.
βI offered them to Chim and Maddie and I was sβpose to babysit tonight, but Jeeβs down with a cold and Maddie has crazy morning sickness in the evenings, so Chim isnβt going to come now. Hen canβt take them either, Bobby and Athena have a meeting with their architect, and Iβve tried everybody else at the firehouseβ¦ nobody can go.β
Buckβs head falls onto the table and Eddie hears a muffle that sounds like βcursedβ. He bites back a joke about Billy Boils and focuses on Buckβs dilemma instead.
βI donβt even like basketball. I donβt know why he got me these in the first place.β Buck is β fortunately β at the stage of the breakup which is picking faults about his ex. Itβs a marked improvement from the βshould I call him?β and the βIβm going to die aloneβ stages that Eddieβs been around for.
At least Eddie can participate in that. Thatβs a new-found joy right there (which makes him feel only aΒ littleΒ bad).
He picks up the tickets, admiring the little Laker hologram on them. He was the first person Buck had asked, but the thought of going to a basketball game without Chris made him ache, but he didnβt have any plans tonight. He figures he is supposed to be doing things heβd enjoy, and watching the Lakers falls under that.
βSo why donβtΒ weΒ go?β
