You might know about wombats, but what about numbats (Myrmecobius fasciatus)? These Australian marsupials are picky eaters with a taste for termites. Using their long tongues, these specialists can slurp down 20,000 of the insects in a single day! Unlike many mammals, the numbat’s mouth is filled with dull, peg-like teeth. But that doesn’t stop this critter, because it doesn’t chew its food anyway.

The spotted-tail quoll (Dasyurus maculatus) is a carnivorous marsupial that can be found on the eastern Australian mainland, as well as on the island of Tasmania. It hunts a variety of critters, including small mammals, reptiles, and birds, and takes down prey with a powerful bite. Its hisses and screams have been likened to the sounds of a circular saw!

now i’m curious what Radar’s Rating is on the scale of thylacineness. Even though i didn’t write them to be totally accurate (human sentience and lowkey radioactive) i want them to be included :333

OKAY SO-

Don't worry about accuracy, since we also cover anthromorphic thylacines that barely look like thylacines here, so a vaguely inaccurate thylacine would fit right in here!

Love their cartooniness! Genuinely makes it look adorable. Likewise, I love how you simplified the markings, while also keeping it pretty accurate to how the stripes actually look? Also the simplified fur pattern is really nice too, plus those eyes are very neat, never seen anyone give their thylacine slilt pupils (Although I'm not too sure how accurate that is? Since I've literally haven't seen any mention on what thylacine pupils look like, same with their living relatives-).

The anatomy may bit a tad bit too dog-like, same with the snout being short, but I reckon those are just style choices and thus might just me being a bit picky.

Oh and I love its eyebrows-

Overall, 9/10. Best tracking marsupial ever!

On this day in 1936, the last known thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus) died at the Hobart Zoo in Tasmania. The animal’s passing marked the extinction of its species. Also known as the “Tasmanian wolf,” the thylacine was Australia’s largest marsupial predator. It sported a dog-like form, with distinctive stripes, and a jaw that could open up to 80 degrees—one of the largest gapes of any mammal. 

The thylacine fed primarily on small mammals and birds. Nocturnal and shy, it was seldom seen by humans. However, beginning in the 19th century, settlers believed the animals threatened their livestock and, spurred on by a bounty offered by the government, hunted them relentlessly. Attempts at protecting the species in the wild came too late: Despite numerous unconfirmed reports of sightings in recent decades, no definitive sightings have occurred since the 1930s.

Okay so today we're rating the Animal Jam: Play Wild Thylacine

... Was NOT expecting this-

On one hand, they are kind of cute? Really like how they went with the pale brown colour, as well as the white undersides and paws. They also seem to have the facial markings too!

On the OTHER hand, oooooooh boy, they look a bit wonky. The neck is bizarrely long???? Like. Why is the neck long, why is the torso so thin, why is the ankles placed so high up???? The face is pretty alright, really like the thin snout, but the pointy ears are a bit iffy.

Plus the fact that they used dark brown as opposed to black stripes?? I mean. Maybe it's because the stripes are a part of the "main" colour, so it'll change?? But I don't think tigers have "attached" markings?? Jammers, please correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the tigers' stripes change depending on what marking type is selected? Also they made the classic mistake of giving them tail stripes-

Also the TEETH???? What. What's going in there. I know it's probably simplification but... the teeth looks so awkward for some reason?

My Rating: 6/10. Very awkward but still somewhat charming-

Can you rate Teo from The Lost Tiger?

(Apologies for how long this took, we were in a bit of a depressive slump)

He kind of reminds me of TY appearance-wise! He's actually pretty cute in all honesty.

Really like those rounded ears, they look a LOT like actual thylacine ears! Plus that tail looks pretty accurate too, save for those stripes. Talking about stripes, the fact that he has stripes on his shoulders legs and tail is strange, but I can give it a pass since the clothing would hide most of them... plus it has TY vibes tbh-

The legs and arms look a bit strange, although it does seem like a sort of a classic 3D cartoony look-

My rating: 9/10, strangely adorable and quite charming to me!

Absolutely love the crunchiness of the model, they look really silly-

The BRIGHT yellowish fur is very silly too!!! The anatomy looks a bit too dog-like in my opinion, especially the legs and tail. The ears also seem a bit too pointy, plus the snout looks goofy.

I did not realise the thylacine model is that scruffy-looking-

My rating: 8/10, Loses some points for inaccurate anatomy but it's still very cute and silly looking!
