Sometimes the help you need isn’t the help you want. Call 1-800-273-8255 if you’re thinking of suicide.
This comic meant a whole lot to me. It was sincere in its depiction and treated the issue through the eyes of a grounded person. Not some godly hero saying everything is better than it seems, but a person trying his best before bringing her somewhere who can actually help.
And this is why I love Deadpool. <3
i had the most baffling encounter at work today.
apparently someone left their iphone in our store. the phone was found by a woman, henceforth known as “Terrible Lady,” when Phone Owner set off the “find my iphone” alarm. the alarm is accompanied by a “please contact this # if found” message. Terrible Lady utilizes this number to text Phone Owner, demanding $100 in return for the phone. Phone Owner says they can’t afford it, there’s some back and forth, etc. etc., and eventually Phone Owner threatens to call the cops.
Terrible Lady brings the phone (which is still making the obnoxious “find my iphone” noise, and continues to do for the duration of the encounter) to my register, complaining about the audacity of Phone Owner, as if refusing to pay the $100 is an egregious personal insult. i “mhm” a lot, silently judging her, but relieved she has sensibly decided to release the phone into the store’s custody so we can return it to Phone Owner without further drama.
LMAO WRONG
fifteen minutes later, after she has checked out, she comes by my register just long enough to say “make sure she pays the $100, i’ll call to see when i need to come pick it up!” and is out the door before i can even process the fact that this women genuinely thinks that the burlington fucking coat factory is going to be the middleman for her definitely unethical and most likely illegal lost iphone extortion scheme. (side note: i looked this up once i got home from work, and it turns out that, yeah, it’s totally illegal in our state)
sure enough, an hour later, Terrible Lady calls: “hi, is this cashier #5? [that’s not my name but thanks] has she brought the $100 yet??”
there are like 2 cashiers on duty and 20 people in line. i beg my manager to take the call, which: smart move. because my manager ends up on the phone with Terrible Lady for 20 minutes, telling her that we will, under no circumstances, require Phone Owner to pay $100 before we give them the phone. eventually, Terrible Lady realizes we mean business, and SHE threatens to call the cops on US because we took the phone from her “under false pretenses”
manager hangs up on Terrible Lady /end
What did I just read?
One of the most accurate depictions of how awful customers can be.
Imagine hating homeless people so much u find ways to make their lives shittier instead of providing them with the resources they need
and unfortunately this isn’t the first time people have did things against poor people…
…THIS SHIT NEEDS TO END NOW
“hostile architecture” is one of those things that sounds like it should be awesome from the name
and then you find out what it actually means and are filled with violent nausea
Destroying Hostile Architecture is an act of human decency
There was a bridge where i went to school, under which homeless people hung out a lot. Where I met this guy Bill. This guy who’d been fired from his job as an air traffic controller for testing positive for weed, whose wide had left him and taken everything. We sat there talking for like hours and he shared his vodka with me and offered me a smoke even though he had next to nothing.
And i come back to visit a year later and the motherfuckers have cemented fucking jagged rocks to all the support structures so nobody can sit on them i was fucking livid i hate this shit so much this man had the clothes on his back, a plastic bottle of booze, and a pack of cigarettes, and a place to rest. That’s it. That’s all he had and he still had the kindness and generosity to share what little he had with me, someone who didn’t need it at all
You know what come to think of it, i haven’t met a single homeless person who hasn’t at least offered me a cigarette or something when i’ve talked to them and you sons of bitches won’t even let them have a place to sit down for 5 fucking minutes
If you see this shit and you’re physically able, break it. Get rid of it. Put a mattress over those spikes between pillars
Anyone who thinks homeless people are a nuisance or an inconvenience should have every single thing that they own and hold dear removed from them for at least a year and see how they fucking like it!
like, instead of wasting money to build these horrific sharp anti-homeless crap, how about they donate it to shelters instead???
Like this is just to keep up ~aesthetics~ instead of putting human life first
MOTHERFUCKERS COULDN’T GET ON WONDER WOMEN’S LEVEL
when i woke up this morning, my first thought was ‘no one visits my grave anymore’ and i was really sad for a few minutes so i lay on my bed with my eyes shut and then all of a sudden i opened my eyes and was like ‘wait i don’t have a grave what the fuck’
are you okay
Am I Ever?

My grandmother once told me, ‘Relationships are work, honey, and they aren’t 50/50. Some days when I get up I only feel like giving 10%, then your granddaddy has to give 90% that day. But there is always 100% love.’
