“…” he’s not sure whether stella thinks he’s stupid, or has simply decided that she doesn’t care. he’s leaning somewhere towards the latter but finds it difficult not to indulge his sense of responsibility over an otherwise independent young girl.

regulus gives her a few moments of quiet before interjecting, and hopes his voice is loud enough to be heard over the distinctive crunch of cereal. “you wouldn’t happen to have gone out yesterday, would you?” he asks with an exaggerated curiosity, as a parent might ask a chocolate-smeared child whether or not they stole a bite of cake. “i was in the library all day; haven’t a thought as to what you might’ve been doing.”
Crunching of cereal doesn’t cease, but she did hear him. She had heightened hearing, after all. But she takes the longest of moments to even look up from her food. Her gaze is a rather pointed one, clearly eating cereal that had previously run out the day before. Obviously she has gone out. Spoon is eventually let go, clattering lightly against the bowl as eyes stare straight at him. “ Yes. ”
She didn’t think he particularly cared where she went. His question is met with a confused tilt of her head. There were often times she was sure she even harbored sanctuary here, walking around the halls in the middle of the night.
