Venice was a musical written by Matt Sax! I’m just gonna copy-paste the plot section from its wiki page really quick
“The city of Venice has been at war for a generation. Venice Monroe, who was named for the city, is sworn in as the new leader of the city, promising to bring change to the society. A symbolic wedding is planned between Venice and his childhood friend, Willow. Venice’s half-brother, Markos, is a commander in the city’s military. He plots to disrupt the wedding and keep the public in fear.”

Unfortunately, it never took off due to some nasty reviews. It pretty much sunk at the Public. here are some examples
(in the first one, they even describe Matt Sax as a “ rapping narrator who comes across as a pale, irksome copy of “In the Heights” star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.”! Every review also ends up being harsh on Haley Daisy, calling her a Niki Minaj/Lady Gaga hybrid.)
But it is one of my favorite shows regardless! The music is a cool, electro hip-hop style with Matt Sax as the amazing narrator! It also features stars such as Uzo Aduba(the voice of Bismuth on Steven Universe), Leslie Odom Jr(Aaron Burr in Hamilton), Jennifer Damiano(Natalie in Next to Normal and Mary Jane in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) and much more!
