Writing! Again. I am seriously so bad at these things. But here's to new beginnings...

My creative center has been on fire lately. I am so grateful. I am grateful for ALL the people I've encountered and ALL the events that have happened to lead me up to this point. For the past few months I felt like I dropped the ball again but today, I am standing on the mountain top and not a chance of fog in sight. I'm sure - the confusion, doubts, insecurities - they will come. And that's OK. But today, no clouds. I am ever grateful for the loving, supportive people around me that have held space for me to pursue this path despite the disappointments and way, way downs. If you guys ever get the chance to read this, know that it's you.

Doug Perrine captured these stunning photographs in the Maldives. The particular location (Vaadhoo Island) has a concentrated population of bioluminescent phytoplankton. Bioluminescence is a natural chemical reaction which occurs when a micro-organism in the water reacts with oxygen. When washed ashore by the tides, the phytoplankton’s chemical energy is turned into light energy, illuminating the waves.

That's what I call magic.

One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice --though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. "Mend my life!" each voice cried. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do, though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations, though their melancholy was terrible. It was already late enough, and a wild night, and the road full of fallen branches and stones. But little by little, as you left their voices behind, the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do -- determined to save the only life you could save.
