Hi! I’m a new global player, and I’ve read through some of your posts, they’ve been super helpful. I just wanted to check if I understood a few things correctly and ask a couple questions!
From what I’ve gathered so far:
6* soft pity starts at 60 and hard pity is at 70, with a 50/50 system. If you lose the first 50/50, is the next one guaranteed?
The 5-man limited banner gives random limited cards unless you use the selector box after 200 pulls.
Early game, it’s best to prioritize skills over attributes (2 AoE, 1 chanced AoE, 2 Crit), and if possible, maxing the 2 AoE cards makes progression much easier.
It seems pity doesn’t carry over between banners, is that true?
Is it better to save the blue rhombus-shaped thingy for cosmetics, or spend them on pulls? In the beta, you can exchange them for pull currency.
A few more things I’m still unsure about:
If my main goal is pushing the main story, should I focus all my resources on one love interest, or pull and level everyone somewhat evenly? I’m coming from LaDS, where you usually go all-in on one LI because affection unlocks more content and you can only bring one guy into battle at a time anyway.
Does the main story difficulty eventually plateau, or does it keep scaling up? In LaDS, I remember story progression capping around card level 40-ish?
And lastly, do you have more progression tips for someone mainly interested in clearing the story efficiently?
hello, thank you for taking the time to look at my previous posts before coming to ask specific questions, haha. it makes it much easier for me to answer!
there's no 50/50 system in light and night. pity carry over only happens during main story banners and 5-man reruns. the core of light and night's gacha system is their letters and exchange system.
you get 1 letter for every pull and these letters can be exchanged in any limited banner (just not reruns, 5-man, or roulettes). the trick is to only pull on limited banners and either be prepared to go to 180 to exchange and guarantee your card or collect letters for future banners.
for example, when a 5-man banner happens, you have the choice of going to 140 pulls to get 140 letters to exchange for your bias (the exchange is reduced) or you can go to 200 pulls to get the selector box. if you choose to do the latter then along the way you will get:
two 6* because you will have guarantees at 70 and 140 pulls
a random event card at 100
honestly, it's highly likely you will get three 6* during these pulls, add the random 100 and your selector box, and you will come out of the 5-man banner with your bias and four other 6* cards while taking home 200 letters to skip a banner in the future.
never spend polaris on pulls! either keep them for cosmetics or for roulette banners because these require polaris to guarantee the card.
just level up whichever cards you have available that have the recommended skills to invest in (targeted critical, aoe, or chance aoe) because you can take anyone into battle. the main story difficulty plateaus but i honestly couldn't tell you where or when because light and night always lowers the difficulty of the main story whenever it updates and i clear all the stages at that time (because they give rewards for reading everything).
i haven't touched my team composition since early 2022 after i maxed out two cards from the wish on a star roulette series though (what are attribute weaknesses in the face of overwhelming aoe damage; you only need two of these cards max leveled and max stacked and the rest of the slots can be level 1 cards and you will still clear levels). there's really nothing about the battle stages to stress about in light and night because, in the worst case scenario, you can also level up your designer to give your cards a passive bonus at the start of a stage.
in light and night, affection doesn't really unlock more content. you need a basic level of affection to unlock content from cards, but it's pretty low. after the basic affection requirement, you only need to level up the cards to certain levels to unlock posts, chats, and calls. you can check the "rewards" cards give you to see what conditions you need to meet to unlock their contents.
