Closing Ask Box and Blog for Good :’)

Hey guys! It’s been a while, I hope you have all been well. I myself have been very busy with school and work, as well as a hefty personal life. So much so that I have unfortunately become unmotivated to work on a blog with everything else already on my plate. I won’t be able to make anymore content on this blog so I will be closing it (The blog will continue to exist so that content is accessible! I just will not longer moderate it or uphold it.)

Running this blog and creating such a fun & personal dialogue with @snailrose has been an absolute pleasure and an extremely fun experience. I’m really sad to see it go, but I know this is what’s for the best, for both Connor and I as well as you guys. Fortunately, Connor actually has put together a new set of Evan Hansen & Connor Murphy ask blogs that will deliver a new story and dialogue to you guys. Please please pleeeease go give them a follow!

“Y-You know, maybe I should just–Maybe I should just skip lunch today…” Evan wrung his hands nervously as Jared groaned.

“Don’t be a wuss, dude.” Jared scoffed, though there was a small hint of amusement in his voice, which only made Evan even more anxious. Maybe he shouldn’t have told him about this…Then again, Evan knew that Jared wouldn’t be too happy if he had just kept it all a secret.

“Your ‘friendship’ with Connor isn’t going anywhere if you don’t take any chances.”

Connor was walking down the school hallway just as lunch began, earbuds tucked into his ears and blaring some generic indie song Zoe had showed him last night. Although he wouldn’t admit it to her face, it was actually pretty enjoyable. As he neared the cafeteria, his height allowed him to easily notice that one distant figure in the group people in front of him had suddenly stopped moving. He focused in on this individual out of sheer curiosity, and found a familiar head of golden-brown hair nervously looking right back at him. It was none other than Evan, who upon making eye contact had temporarily darted his eyes away. Connor took out his earphones and tucked them into his jacket pocket, approaching him. Evan was clearly doing his best to greet him, which honestly relaxed Connor more than anything. He was glad to see that Evan was still wanting to talk to him after everything.

Evan nodded a little too eagerly. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to be seen with Connor, it was just that he didn’t particularly like sitting in the cafeteria. Sure, he sat there with Jared, but really that was only because he had no one else to sit with and Jared preferred the cafeteria to other areas.

It was too loud in there and sometimes people threw food. Plus, Evan had been ‘accidentally tripped’ far too many times and none of them had ended well for him, though he was sure that others had a more positive point of view on that. The thought nearly made him frown, but he instead smiled nervously.

“Oh, um…Yeah…That sounds g-good.” He gripped lightly at the fabric of his shirt and tried not to think about the fact that he’d be pretty much alone with Connor for the entire lunch period. At this point, his anxiety about the whole situation had caused him to lose his appetite, which should have bothered him but didn’t.

The only thing really bothering him was the fact that he had no idea what he would do or say and part of him just wanted to run away and leave the situation, but he couldn’t.

Connor just smiled softly at Evan, giving him a simple, “Cool.” before turning around and leading the way towards the glass doors. He knew Evan was a nervous wreck, but he also had quickly learned that was just who he was, and never questioned it unless something was wrong. Although he didn’t show it, Connor was a little nervous himself. He had spent the entire morning not really paying attention in any of his classes, his mind wondering in all directions that pointed towards Evan. Does he still want to sit with me today? God damn, I hope so. He seems like a fairly cool person and I’m so sick of screwing things up. Connor had genuinely tried giving a shit last year with a few people. The whole “friend” thing fell through with most of them, while the others will now just smile briefly at him in the hallway before scurrying on by. It really came down to his intimidating appearance and brief history. The fact that most of the kids at school didn’t have the time of day to even get to know Connor didn’t help much either. So he stopped trying senior year. He found it pointless to bother with people he knew he’d inevitably lose.

And yet, there he was, holding open a glass door leading into the campus’s courtyard for Evan Hansen. Evan Hansen, who wanted to have lunch with him. Evan Hansen, who was really adorable, and nervous, and probably just as lonely as Connor, judging by how the school treats him. However, he was friends with one other person.

“ You’re close with Kleinman, right?” Connor questioned curiously, sitting down at a picnic-style table under a tree. “I see you with him in the hallway all the time.”

Connor wasn’t particularly fond of Jared, because he was notorious for tossing shitty insults at him should they interact, but if Evan was close to him, he figured he couldn’t be all that bad.

Evan sat down across from Connor and licked his lips nervously at his question. Jared wasn’t exactly the best to Connor or even him, so he couldn’t help but be a little nervous at Connor’s question.

“I, um…Yes, I mean, no! We’re, uhm…Well he likes to call us family friends.” Evan gripped at the fabric of his jeans, rubbing at it slightly in between his fingers. “We hang out sometimes though, um…It’s usually at–Well we usually just hang out at s-school I guess? Sometimes I’ll go to his house or he’ll come to mine b-but…” He forced himself to shut his mouth, thinking that he had gone on far too long.

Connor searched Evan’s eyes for a moment longer before eventually relaxing, satisfied with what was said. He knew for a fact he himself didn’t like Jared, but as long as Evan wasn’t unhappy, Connor wouldn’t push it. He softened his gaze at the niceness of the question, his lips curling up a little on the right side of his mouth in an almost-half smile.

“What d-do I like to do…?” Connor’s tone was curious yet flat. Although he managed to more or less sound plain, internally he was flattered Evan wanted to get to know him. No one really took the chance to before.

“Well, it’s not as exciting as you may think,” he laughed dryly, pulling out his lunch of some quinoa-based meal his mom had prepared for him the night before. He clicked his tongue when he opened the Tupperware container and saw its contents, but shrugged and ate it anyways. Connor wasn’t picky by any stretch, it’s just his mother would shove her bizarre diets onto her children, and neither Connor nor Zoe were too keen on joining in. Despite its rather bland flavor, he took a couple of bites, and then looked back up at Evan. “I like really like watching films. I know that sounds boring, but I think analyzing choreography and just the cinematography of a movie in general is interesting. Mystery and action films are my favorite. Oh! Crime-solving Netflix shows and stuff like that are fantastic. Poorly made, but still fun to watch.”

Connor glanced down and scooped up some more food, a more playful smile appearing on his face. He found it rather nice to talk about himself like this for once with someone who cared to listen.

He didn’t let his smile show for long as he took a bite, swallowing and pointing to Evan with the clear plastic fork. “What about you? Do you like movies? Or have any specific hobbies? I know trees are somewhere in the picture.” He prompted.
