Call me pedantic, but my response to any and all "radical kindness is punk" type posts is still that you should just call yourself a hippie. Like that was the actual radical kindness movement. I'm not even saying that to be derogatory, I think the hippies were cool! I'm Californian, I owe a lot to those guys!
It's just weird to me that there's such a strong desire to ape the aesthetics of what's seen as a "cool" subculture that people are constantly try to revise the core of it when one there's a much more closely aligned one right there. Hell at this point I think I'd argue hippie fashion is a lot more repulsive to the modern conservative than punk stylings
the deltarune brainrort is so bad rn im sitting at a tim hortons, an old guy the next table over says "i watched the tennis game this morning" and it sounds like gibberish, my sole semi-coherent thought is "...oouugh tennis. game. tenna pipis game" im so fucking cooked

unfortunate that all books about fanfic writers have basically been romance novels. There is something totally untapped about the serious psychological dimensions of the practice of RPF from both ends. one one side the horror of being misconstrued and the seduction of being construed at all. on the other side the overpowering desire to dig physically into someone elseās brain through the screen, to become them somehow, to understand them perhaps deeper than the person themself ever could. the near religious certainty you develop. what happens to you when you become someone elseās fiction. the age-old unsettled moral quandary. arent we all fictional characters to some extent. arent we all dolls other people play with in their heads.

Just got off a whole day on a bus to check the world's most beautiful pictures of the Moon and Trump threatening genocide upon a whole civilization
oh carlitos we're really in it now
Iāve been thinking about this poem a lot with the United Statesā Artemis 2 mission. And I feel a sense of loss at my own apathy towards it - that I canāt find it within myself to look at the new pictures of the Earth and Moon in wonder. I feel nothing seeing them. And space is a domain where I think people are very easily moved by our own ability to capture it with photographs and other instruments. It invites you to think about humanity as a single, universal entity. Looking atĀ photos of Saturn taken by the Cassini space probeĀ doesnāt make me think of myself but of every human being thatās ever lived. It invokes a feeling of utter humility and smallness. Itās hard not to think I am bearing witness to the face of god.
But it is impossible to access those feelings now with the US conducting and aiding in genocides and bombings in Palestine and Iran and Lebanon and on and on and on. They are using the same technology to explore space as they are for levelling cities. And I know there has always been something terrible happening in the world whenever manned rockets are launched into space, so itās not like this is new. There was never a time in which we ājustā explored beyond our atmosphere. But the present moment feels inescapable, and I find myself unable to divorce what is happening down here from the photos we receive from the Artemis above us.
