“But now that the event has come and gone, the funeral, the various rituals, only the loss remains, which can never be recuperated. The event is over, the event has been overcome, and yet the loss is only beginning. Every day, it grows deeper, more and more is forgotten, less and less really known for certain. And nothing will ever bring his father back from the realm of memory into the reassuringly concrete world of material fact, tangible and specific fact: and how, how is it possible to accept this, or even to understand what it means?”
Intermezzo by Sally Rooney
Few pages after this, there’s a particular close-to-home idea I fear I had suppressed all along when dealing with grief.
The fear of truly losing a person forever because they won’t be in anyone’s memory anymore. What if everyone stops thinking about them at all? They won’t exist neither in reality nor in thought, their existence ceasing entirely. I’m distraught by this.

If there’s a portal to the future, I hope I’m existing peacefully, not having to check the pulse of my neck every passing minute.
Cr reading If We Were Villains as slow as possible just to postpone the terribly dreadful ending (i did spoil it for me just like with any other book)
I am unwell. (The spoiler did not include this epilogue plot twist holy shit)
I liked a little life cuz the concept of getting everything you want and still killing yourself deeply resonated with me

When I said I want to relate to The Secret History, I didn’t mean Henry’s headaches and the urge to murder people. I just want a pretentious friend group that studies a foreign language
I don’t want to live in a hole anymore
This scene is engraved in my brain and soul
I’m never making it out
Czeslaw Milosz, New and Collected Poems: 1931-2001
Hey, I love you, but my pride is wounded , so I let you lead my army into battle, and then you ultimately die—though you were a great warrior—and I go mad. My grief and rage overwhelm me that I fight a river god to kill Hector and drag his body through Troy. I refuse to bury your dead body because I never imagined you would leave me first. But yeah, I still love you. Philtatos.

“I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell, I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
The Song of Achilles
Will wonders ever cease?
Blessed be the mystery of love
