I feel like 5-10 years ago there were certain truths in left wing spaces (or at the very least here on tumblr) that we all just accepted and used as the foundation of where we focused our energy, and on where to offer the most support.

Intersectionality was more commonly understood. Remember "checking your privilege"? people actually used to pay attention to that, they understood that it didn't mean you face no oppression whatsoever, but that you were privileged in some aspects and it was important to acknowledge them.

On here at least, young leftists have none of that anymore. Bring up male privilege? Now you get the response "Oh well but I'm disadvantaged due to x, y, and z so I actually don't have any male privilege" THIS USED TO BE A COMMON RIGHT WING TALKING POINT. This used to be said by every single one of those anti-sjw youtubers with the low effort png furry avatars, back in the 2010s. A feminist would bring up male privilege, and they would go "Oh well I'm poor, I was raised in a single parent household, where's MY privilege?" This was THE common rightwing silencing tactic any time anyone tried to bring up women's rights, and now it is the mainstream position on tumblr.

I find the fact that the overton window has shifted that much even in openly progressive spaces to be really scary. A lot of you hold the same views that the "totally a centrist, definitely not alt right" did back in 2012, but with a woke coat of paint. Doesn't that scare you??? If your individualistic mindset is enough to make you let go of basic entry-level feminism, what else are you capable of flipping on?
