Done! This time, it's Of This Their Desolation by @pelicanpig!
I love this fic for its plot and its oppressive setting and I think it deserves more consideration. The reveal of the nature of the threat really surprised me. Great job.
as you can see on the first picture of the post, the image of the cover is slightly off-center. Note to myself for the next time: draw alignment marks. It takes 5 seconds.
still about the cover, it's a little fragile. Even if I'm really proud of the pattern, it's made of plenty of little lines which tend to peel off when the book rubs against a surface.
it's not so important, but the tarlatan I used for the back is yellow while I usually use white.
It's actually rather funny, because when I went to the fabric shop and asked the shopkeeper, she didn't know what I meant at first (I was asking for Saint-Galette, which is another name for the tarlatan) and then it clicked: "Oh, some tarlatane! It's been a while since someone asked for it. People used to make hats with it". She was a bit surprised when I said it was for a book, but she showed me three long rolls of yellow, green tarlatan. It's not a big deal, but it's quite funny to think that my books have sunflower yellow burlap on their backs :)
on my first try, the cover was a little twisted, but not this time, so I count it as a win. It made the book fall when I placed it on the table, but this one holds on his own. Also, I had a bit too much space between the cover and the pages on the longest outside edge, but now it's juuuuust the good size.
I also took the time to paint the edge and place washi paper headbands, so it shines.
Last time, I ripped the front and end pages and had to use hinge tape to fix them, but this time I made sure to use thicker paper.
It's still a little crumpled, but NOT TORN OFF! Success! Plus, I like the color. I would like to find sheets with patterns, but the one I find on the web are sadly too short for the book size I use.
This project was great to realise! I think I'll try once more, maybe on a larger book. After some sleep. Probably.
