Saw this post on twitter by @lenaskzorel and I couldn’t help but expand on it.
What if Rumi was half nightsister? That would give the markings and the shame over her heritage. She has memories of this darkness in her past, when she was a child. A chanting in her mind, pulling her away from the light side. But she doesn’t waver.
She always felt this pull to the dark, a fear of going too far of not being a good enough Jedi, of not saving enough people. But she persevered, powered through. She fought with her own demons (lol, accidental parallel) but the fear always lingered.
Her strength in the light was great, but she still had doubt from time to time. Regardless, she tried to be the best Jedi possible, ignoring her nightsister heritage that she despises. She just does her best, does what she’s told. Because that’s what a Jedi is supposed to do… Right?
Until Mira enters her life. And Rumi questions blindly following orders. Sure she’s questioned orders before. But she’s always followed them whether she agreed or not. Now she’s on a mission alone with this woman, for the first time and getting to know someone that’s not a soldier or a Jedi. And Mira is one of the most interesting people Rumi has ever met.
But… it ends. Rumi is called away. And now she can’t help but feel like it’s both a mistake and a good thing. She was getting too close. Jedi can’t make attachments. But, why?
The whole point of being a Jedi is to love the galaxy and save people and be in touch and in tune with life. How is being attached so wrong? How is having a… friend(👀) so wrong. That has to be her darkness talking right? So Rumi leaves for a mission that she feels is so beneath her skills.
She should be protecting Mira from the threat. Or saving a planet from Separatist forces. Not guarding a cargo ship of dumb supplies (or whatever the mission is) and it DEFINITELY doesn’t need her AND her master, Celine.
But then, a few days before the mission is supposed to end, Rumi walks in on a transmission from Mira’s planet. Her security guards calling for help. They were under attack and were being taken out. The princess was in danger. Rumi panicked and said they needed to hurry back and rescue Mira.
But master Celine said no. They had a mission from the council and from the senate themselves. They couldn’t disobey orders. But they were the closest ship. It would take only a few hours to reach her by hyperspace! Celine said no, again.
That’s when Rumi gets mad and storms off. She stews in her room for a few minutes before sneaking away to the launch bay and stealing a ship, along with a crew of five clones (Saja boys? 😂) They Blast off, racing for Mira. Rumi’s heart racing and adrenaline pumping.
That’s all for now. I might actually turn this into something real. But I needed to write some of this down. So here it is. 😊 (I may already have like a thousand words of the first chapter. 😅)
Don’t worry, the coffee shop AU, and SbC (MbF) are still being worked on. I’m just stupid. 😅
