i just feel like dean thinks sam is the funniest person in the world. they'll be watching a movie and sam's commentary just has dean leaning over the bed wheezing and sam will look over and chuckle. they'll be working a case and one of the witnesses will be a dick to dean and sam will make snarky comments under his breath and dean's just sitting there like 😐 trying so hard not to make a fool of himself by laughing like an absolute maniac.

sam and dean fighting and sam's just trying to get dean to open up to him because it's been years and dean never talks about anything they've been through. and sam's worried that dean will crumble under the weight of all the trauma he just keeps burying. so when they're fighting, dean snaps and he yells in sam's face that he's fine and he wishes sam would stop treating him like he was fragile. dean is so close and his voice is thunderous and it surrounds sam, and most people would be scared. most people would cower away. but sam just looks in dean's eyes and reaches out to rest a hand on dean's cheek and he says "it's okay, i'm here. none of it was your fault, i don't blame you." because he knows dean beats himself up over just about everything that happened in their past. he repeats it despite dean's warning to shut the fuck up. he repeats it when dean has him against the wall, bracketed between his arms. he repeats it when dean starts punching the wall violently beside his head. he repeats it when dean finally breaks and closes himself slowly around sam's shoulder and sobs. he repeats it when the only thing dean can repeat is an apology. he repeats it late at night when he's holding dean in bed, running his fingers through his hair while he sleeps.
