What if there was a werewolf story except not at all and there was a wereclown instead? Well this is my little corner where I keep it all. Welcome. Extremely casual collection of art/writing/musings

What’s all this then?

Short answer—I had a really weird dream and now it’s unfurled into something with an actual world and story. Also I just really like unconventional werecreatures/transformations (The Mask, Wererabbit, Werehog, etc.)

It follows Renn, a trans man working as a park ranger in a mid-sized town rife with the supernatural. After falling victim to a cursed clown nose, he learns of other cursed objects littering the town and the mysterious force creating them. Begrudgingly accepting his new transformation and powers, Renn uses them to put a stop to the nonsense.

How would Clowny react if someone was willing to hug him/be near him?

I'm guessing most of the time people run when they see him, which is understandable. A big ahh clown in the woods? Hell nah

But what if someone instead of running away, run towards him?

And has Victoria meet him while she's a human instead of a wolf?

If it’s while he’s in control of himself, his first reaction would be to hold you back like a cat who doesn’t want to be pet. XD Even with good intentions, a person coming at you is still a person coming at you. He might be open to letting you near if you’re persistent enough tho. He might be self conscious as fuck but deep down he really wants the company/acceptance. If it’s his Unconscious self, I uh. Wouldn’t recommend that!

AAA I forgot the last one! Yes, Victoria met The Wereclown in her human form first, on the night Renn got cursed. Thats part of the reason she attacks him on sight the next time she sees him 😬

If someone was to escape from clowny-unconciouss Renn; What would they have to do to achieve it?

Given how his insides are "hollow" does it mean he's light weight?

Can he glow at night?

Is he weak to something?

Does the clown have a name of his own?

For normal Renn:

Can he see or talk with clowny inner clown?

I can go on but with these question but I think, this is enough- Sorry if it becomes overwhelming.

No worries, there’s stuff here I hadn’t even considered before! 1.) The space inside does make him lighter than he looks, but he’s still got a heft to him thanks to size alone.

2.) If he acted out a gag of cracking like a glowstick he could probably make it happen thanks to toon physics.

3.) No material weaknesses that I can think of, but he’s always in danger of falling to the Jester’s thrall. Plus he’s working at a disadvantage—most other clowns have some kind of magic. Like I mentioned, Renn can pull off some toon physics, but usually has to rely on brute force.

4.) Not a Name per se but Renn just calls him The Clown™

5.) I’ve debated this cuz it WOULD be cool if they could communicate… The way it works for now is that Renn can feel when The Clown feels or wants something, like a harsh tug from a source that isn’t Him.

Has the Jester creature infected someone else? If so, do they look similar to Renn

Ye the Jester is still infecting people. They wouldn’t look exactly like Renn but they do turn into some type of clown archetype or circus shtick. I haven’t designed them yet, but I have ideas for a hobo clown, a Pierrot, a house of mirrors host, and a mime.

"How long can he stay on his clowny form, at will?"

"Do his senses increase?"

"Before he became aware of this transformation, what would his unconcious self do? Is it any different now that he's aware?"

Oo good questions!

1.) Renn can maintain his form for quite a few hours if he wanted! It actually takes quite a bit of effort to change back at will. 2.) They do! His night vision gets craaazy good, & his range of hearing is slightly better. 3.) Unconscious wereclown is extremely animated and lithe, and though he can’t speak, he vocalizes a lot. Plus he has no sense of personal space. His purpose was to capture people for the Jester after all. 😬 A polar opposite to Conscious Renn. XD

Do all of his friends know about the wereclown transformation?

It’s mainly just Sophie and Victoria. There’s Terrell of course but he doesn’t learn that Renn is the clown till much later. In Renn’s ideal world, no one would know.

The knight is cursed because they as a human they are an asshole, as a knight they follow Knight Rules and are extremely chivalrous but have the classic werewolf "can't remember or control themself as a wolf" thing. That's why the wereknight has an umbrella instead of a sword. To prevent maiming.

The wereclown is 100% aware and in control of themself. I think wereclowns are just a species in whatever story they're gonna be in and the inspiration behind horror clowns.

Wereclown thinks the knight is funny and hangs out with it sometimes. Has somehow convinced the knight they are not a monster and therefore recieves chivalry. This is more than some muggers can say.

Wereknight is more or less same height as human form. Short/stouter build. Also more solid than people expect since getting cursed. Usually covered with some degree of dried blood.

Wereclown lives in the area. Sees clown form as true self but enjoys larping as a human with a normal life/job.

The wereknight transforms by the metal coming out through her skin which is where all the blood comes from. Somehow doesn't bleed out every time. If attacked may unwittingly transform (at least partially) to protect themself.

Wereclown went to clown college. The other wereclown (that isn't memory-drawn Renn) is an old college buddy

Wereknight genderfluid which is why no human face yet 👍

Ultimately I know that the point of art is to have fun and play dolls and explore things, and I will continue to do whatever I want forever, but I am nothing if not an anxious boy.

Would being silly and having fun make Renn nervous cause hes afraid hes feeding into the curse (not actually happening just his paranoia) and so hed repress that side of him ironically feeding into the transformation like a bad feedback loop?

Oh yeah. Sophie and Terrell both notice that their friend seems more tense and nervous than usual. It’s the worst at the start, since it takes a sec for him to figure out what triggers the change. Losing control of your own mind is unnerving to say the least, and Renn’s always looking for signs of that happening again. Unfortunately that hyper-vigilance is just making him more self-conscious. 😅
