The Kids just aren't being taught how to write a cv or cover letter huh
I've seen ones today including photos, dates of birth, place of birth even!
And also several formatted like they were writing a message to a friend! Full of exclamation marks! This is a formal document!
So as someone who's been applying to jobs internationally recently, this post kind of highlights how myopic rules about resume writing can be. In the US you shouldn't write out your address, a Swedish resume would NEVER get callback without an address, what are you trying to hide?*. A DOB isn't something you should put on a resume in Sweden, but I've seen American advice go as far as omitting years of education in order to actively conceal your age. Some Asian countries require a headshot, in Sweden it's not unheard of but also not common, and it's absolutely verboten in the US.
Furthermore, resumes are fucking hard as shit to write successfully (=making not just a human read it, but ensuring that they're interested). I ended up paying a company to edit mine, and once I used it, I started getting callback despite the versions I had used before being 95%+ similar, it really was the little details, the exact terminology and choice and placement of adjectives, that made the entire difference, and those can differ enormously between job markets in the same country.
"but onaa, you're beansouping, OP is in the US and presumably all the youths they interact with are too. "
Even if they are, advice is all over the internet from every possible country, and it's no more or less helpful than something provided by a very decent English teacher who, just by virtue of being 10+ years older and working in a different sector, have encountered a very different job market than the kids they teach.
Conclusion: the kids aren't stupid, nor are we bad at teaching resumes, reality is just really fragmented and impossible.

*addresses are basically public anyway, Americans would piss themselves with the info that's public in Sweden. Including everyone's salary.
remember when America wrote EVERYBODY'S address and phone number in a book and dropped free copies on everybody's doorstep once a year?
Maybe one reason time seems to speed up in adult life is because when your full time job leaves you roughly 5 hours of free time a day plus two days off a week your life turns into a sort of monotony that makes the days blend together and creative pursuits move in slow motion as you can only get to them when other your commitments are done.
When you look back and think damn 2019 wasn’t that long ago where did the time go? Job. Your Job took it.

i love you, rock that is tall enough to be a table while i’m submerged in the stream. save me from heatstroke, rock that is tall enough to be a table while i’m submerged in the stream.

two days spent contemplating bee balm….
left work early to go paint in the stream (too hot to be dry) and i was worried about how low the water had gotten this week in the heat wave when a storm hit!!
the water won’t stay this high for long but as long as it doesn’t go back to how it was when i got there i’ll be happy! this only took about 20 minutes of hard rain <3
played around with camera settings while watching a storm pass us by tonight and got some neat ones :)
we taught clover to drink from the hose yesterday - here's two pictures i took of the first time my daughter drank from a hose

happy first day of pride everyone
Tell me an inside joke between you and a friend, without context.
I beg of everyone to read the tags to this post, as they are all random and hilarious and read kind of like a poem, if the poem was written by someone who was on a lot of drugs.
i will say about sangfielle and this has always and will continue to bug me (in a minor way.) is people calling each others characters friends and i KNOW why because it's the standard for a ttrpg party (usually) and the players are friends but these characters are truly the most coworkers ever. of all time possibly
