Another thing about Luigi Mangione.

Its yet to be proven he was the killer. There are details about the arrest that sound absurd and many people suspect the cops are just trying to pin it on him.

A lot of stuff has been dug up about him from his social media that people say establishes motive and lends credence toward him being the assassin. But I would challenge you to consider that maybe he's just one of many, many people fucked over by our system, and that his medical woes are symptomatic of simply living under this system. Other than fitting the roughest approximation of the shooter's description, there is nothing unique in a man who has suffered immensely due to the inhumane health insurance industry.

What i am saying is, they could have arrested any skinny white guy and we would have had an equal likelihood to find on his social media evidence for him having a problem with the Healthcare industry. We all have problems with the industry, we all hate those leeches, that's why people immediately started celebrating the UHC CEO'S death. We all hate this system, everyone in the fucking country has motive in this crime.

For this reason, remember that Luigi Mangione is innocent until proven guilty. And furthermore, remember that not all guilty verdicts are legitimate, there is an immense amount of police and court corruption in this country that makes even seemingly cut and dry cases questionable and I don't consider this one cut and dry. Innocent people go to prison all the time. Innocent people are handed down death sentences all the time. Guilt is an easy thing to conjure in a courtroom, as are guilty pleas conjured in an interrogation room.

When you consign a man like Luigi Mangione to guilt before he has even been to trial you strengthen the system that murders black men in cold blood and labels them criminals post mortem to justify it. You strengthen a system where Kyle Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny can murder with impunity, be acquited of all wrongdoing, and be called heroes because they killed people the state doesn't value.

The short of it is, the bill which disguises itself as a means to make the web safer was written by The Heritage Foundation to give the FTC full authority on what's deemed safe on the web. Under the new administration, it will be used to censor LGBT content. We know this was the point, as its proponents have shared this exact plan. It will never not baffle me how hard society tries to insist that fatness is an abnormality. The average western woman wears plus size clothing. One of the smallest garments on the scale is called a medium. Most people with anorexia are in the overweight bmi category, yet somehow that's known as "atypical anorexia". Fatness is often labeled the cause of a number of diseases, but there are literally no diseases exclusive to fat bodies. Looking at movies and television, you'd think the world was 98% thin people. It's not.

My point isn't that if it was pretty rare to be fat, fatphobia would be okay. Of course not.

My point is that we're surrounded by all these artificial indicators that fatness is unnatural and uncommon and it's just not true?? Humans are not always thin and we've never all been thin and we're not all meant to be thin. Fat humans are a normal type of human. Fatness is a feature, not a bug.

Millionaires and Billionaires are sweating; they need to be coddled ASAP. As conspiratorial as some folk think it sounds, I wouldn't put it past the cops if it meant redirecting the attention away from ritualistically humiliating them (and calling them incompetent) to cracking jokes about how the Claims Adjuster got caught red-handed at a fast food joint.

It doesn't do much to shift the naked opinion of the healthcare system. Or the fact that most people across political lines want a radical overhaul, by force or otherwise.

We'll see.

a really great organization that i don't see any posts about here is HEAL palestine. it was founded by steve sosebee, who was a founding president of the PCRF before leaving in late 2023 to refocus his efforts on heal palestine to better meet the needs of palestinians impacted by the genocide. the organization provides palestinians in gaza with food, clean water, shelters, "makeshift classrooms," and even medical evacuation for some children when it's possible--their services are pretty wide.

you can donate here if you would like to send a tax-deductible donation to an organization. also, i don't think any evacuations are possible right now, but if you're in the united states and you'd like to welcome medically evacuated children in the future, i highly recommend signing up for their newsletter or following them on social media so you can stay updated in case any children evacuated by HEAL come to your area for treatment. welcoming these kids at the airport is a really moving way to provide them with moral support, entirely for free.
