OG Book: Not much to say, he was clearly just a dude. A guy alright. Twist is there just because we need a twist, but you can feel a good chunk of personality whenever Cassie antagonizes him.

Graphix: Great design since the art style is killer, and absolutely love the way itâs more obvious here that heâs actively interested in Grady for some reason. The gay undertones are slowly becoming apparent.

OG TV Show: Willâs actor has to take on both Will and Cassieâs roles in the story since Cassie got cut, but he really does bring Will to life as a character. Heâs a more active threat, even if he canonically dies in this version. The eclipse scene though? * Chefâs kiss * absolutely gay as hell, if Will Blake was in Twilight (and the actors were all the same age) he wouldâve bagged Bella AND Edward.Â

Movies: My personal headcanon is that the monsters in the Manuscripts are beta versions of the characters in the official books, and this is why almost none of them match their book versions in either personality and design. The design is absolutely killer, but itâs obviously not the twelve-year-old if his six pack and tattoo werenât obvious enough. Even the branding makes it clear that this is âThe Werewolf of Fever Swampâ as a character, rather than Will Blake.
If he was a character in the book I can totally see him as like, Willâs cooler older brother whoâs also a Werewolf and maybe Will would have less trauma in my fic.
0/10 as a Will, but 10/10 as a Design.
Horrortown: Just like Bart.
IDK maybe the designers just saw the word âflat-topâ and went buck wild, I would believe his character design belonged to CONAN before Will Blake (ToT). Personality wise, heâs straight ;^; also if he wants Marty to leave Courtney alone, he should just date him - boom, problem solved. When he isnât being the âAm Am Werewolfâ in Courtney Kingâs General direction heâs pretty fun since heâs basically a Dogboy.

You Never Grow Out of Your Goosebumps Phase by bluemandycat(X): Kickstarted me actually sitting down to write my fic, mostly because I wanted to put my own fucked up Will out there. Beware because Grady and Will arenât really healthy at the point the protags of this fic find them, but you do feel a little bad for Will when heâs not being a dick. For what little we see of him, very interesting.

Goosebumps United... (2014) by Lord Candycane(X): Aw yes, the Infinity War of Goosebumps/j. Not much for Will to do in this fic besides cameo every once in a while, since there are like...100 characters here. Though I do like the idea that Grady and Cassie just keep him in check like itâs their job. He also gets to be emo about being a Werewolf here! No gay undertones, since Grady holds most of them in that one chase scene.

Goosebumps United (2021) by Sweetiebuttons(Ao3:X and FFN:X): Okay, so SB made a fic based on Candycaneâs fic(basically their own take on the idea) and just went hamwild. Itâs crossposted on FFN and Ao3 but for some reason under different names and also FFN has more chapters uploaded(maybe theyâre retooling the fic for ao3??). SB portrays him much more sympathetically, sometimes to a kinda cheesy degree? Honestly. itâs pretty endearing in a âwebkinz milk catâ kind of way. Absolutely love him becoming friends with people that did this to him:
Not to expose myself for having terrible taste as a kid, but I like the touch of comparing Will to another gay-coded werewolf. Will gets to meet other werewolves and itâs definitely fascinating to think how heâs the only lycanphobic werewolf in GB canon - thereâs even some more Fever Swamp lore based on what little we had in the first United fic. I do like how Will is now the straight man and just has to deal with constant BS from his fellow werewolves, and I especially like the idea of Will not being comfortable with how gung-ho Grady is about being a werewolf.Â
The dialogue is kinda confusing, and Will just goes all over the place and never finishes the interactions so we donât get much. But I do like the ideas that are presented here.

Werewolf of Fever Swamp by sweetie buttons(X): Okay this fic is a revisionist piece on Grady having a Father/Son relationship with the Swamp Hermit, and Grady doesnât become a Werewolf. Will is irrelevant in SBâs sequel to this fic, but for what was shone he sticks closely to his book counterpart. Except for the reveal, because like...Will did not even feel like he wanted to eat Grady. Like every description of him felt like Will wanted to cry and throw-up over how beautiful his boyfriend is. This Will wouldâve bit Grady on purpose 100% and the Hermit and [REDACTED] were homophobic to get in the way of that/j.

Welcome to Goosebumps High by DanielDaponte(X): Not much to say, its Monster High but Goosebumps and it got put on permanent hiatus. But Will shows up for one chapter, now an adult and the schoolâs gym teacher(C.E. Teacher??), which is honestly the funniest thing that has happened with the character. I also forgot about the main character thirsting after him, which is doubly funny.

The Goosebumps School(and itâs many sequels) by SquadMemberK17(X): This series is so fascinating, I could go on about how bonkers the sequels get and how weirdly engaging this self-ship fic about the hat guy from the Dead House live action episode. Like, a bunch of Goosebumps protags are brutally murdered in this fic it is so mindboggling. BUT we are here for Will and heâs a side character in the MCâs friendgroup, in fact, heâs the first person she meets. Will is weird because the author has a bunch of weird ships besides the main one with her self-insert, but Will gets paired with Hannah Stoneman from Werewolf Skin in what I can only call...Monster race shipping? Will honestly had more chemistry with the main character and Grady. Speaking of Grady!
The plot has Sarabeth doing weird shit to destroy the main character for some reason and it would take forever to explain, but one of her plans include getting the Swamp Hermit to kill the MC and Will. You see, in this canon the Swamp hermit killed Grady when he got turned and reveals Willâs past to the MC. Will then saves MC and kills the hermit, and after this traumatizing event itâs never talked about again?? Also, Gradyâs cameo just involves his severed head so have fun with that (ToT). Will still had better chemistry with a Dead Grady than he did with HANNAH.Â
Goosebumps Adventure by Stone-Man85(X): It took me too long to realize this fic plagiarized the Haunting Hour movie, and even a more embarrassing amount of time to realize Grady and Will donât show up (even in the Fever Swamp chapter). This led to a rabbithole that decimated one of my non-GB discords, but as for the Fever Swamp chapter I did not expect that much homophobia to be thrown into my face. Also, RL Stine is a real person in this fic and dies in the first chapter.
-85/10 a plague upon the Authorâs house.
- Iâm not talking about the fic where a dudeâs fursona has a yaoi moment with the Movie version of Will. Or the Wattpad selfship fics.Â
Vanessa is in my fic since her interpretation in horrortown is so interesting to me. Basically, Iâm combining her book and game versions.
- She was actually an adult, but she kept turning every mildly rude person around herself into animals so the head witches or whoeverâs in charge punished her with suspension - by specifically de-aging her to a time where her magic was weaker and more easily controlled. Sheâs been living with her aunt Clarissa, the only one whoâd take her in, under magic house arrest and the âChicken Chickenâ episode serves as her attempt to break her magical suspension.
- Though weakened I think by an episode or two later sheâs finally back to her original age, and then thatâs when she goes looking for the master of all forms of revenge: Wade.Â
Todd Barstow from Go Eat Worms is a Can of Worms. He looks like a child, he is not. What he is still eats, but not in the way we do.
âPeople donât like to think about the rot in their lives, but itâs a pretty natural thing, yâknow? Like, itâs everywhere and it helps nature and stuff. Without it weâd have a bunch of dead things everywhere, taking up space living things need to grow. Thatâs what the worms already know, that the rot is there for the living as much as it is for the dead. Have you ever seen the rot, itâs really pretty. The shades of green, orange, and the yellow and the black and white. Itâs so pretty, once you get over it. And itâs so efficient, kinda like worms. Worms eat stuff that nobody likes, so that it goes back to the dirt where itâs needed. Rot makes it easy for them, it tells them when something needs to be broken down. The worms break it down and new things grow, new things that will rot again for more new things to replace it. Itâs a cycle, an ouroboros.â

- Sarah Maas always ends up suspended on twitter and sheâs a fairly popular tumblr user because she has four separate call-outs that list pretty stupid things and is full of bad faith takes except for one callout that linked her to a sideblog that flat out admitted to psychology torturing an ex by throwing dead birds at their window daily.Â
- Grady is easily internet-poisoned it is so lucky heâs stuck at a swamp with little to no wifi or he wouldâve totally gotten sucked into the superwholock era and tried to kin date Will with Teen Wolf characters(Will has a blog that is just pictures of the swamp and drafts with gradyâs @ spammed)
- Skipper IS internet poisoned and he makes 4 vids a week on youtube about the same 5 topics

I did it! I completed the final batch of my Goosebumps x Monster High art project where I design fankids for GB monsters. This batch has some classics plus a few surprises. I hope you all enjoyed them, and to see then again I suggest looking at the #Monster High tag on my blog!

Idk why I thought of this but why not, every time I look up Kickstarter I see a new old movie getting a board game so why not the GB franchise?Â

At the minimum I think itâd need two players, with a maximum of Six(Maybe Eight?). The basic premise is that you either play a Goosebumps Antagonist or Protagonist, and face each other off on a âMapâ aka the Board(which will be based on a GB Location).Â
You use Dice to move around and search the Map for items to use, with a limited inventory of course, and certain items will be necessary one side or the other to win. And if you read the list you understand that the Stine âTwistsâ are a core mechanic. For more detail read beyond the read more.
Board:
The Game Board will be based on a GB location, though they can often be expanded upon. For instance, for the Base Game the Board would be based on Dark Falls and include the iconic Dead House and even the Plastic Factory. However, more would be added to it like a Library, school, and what not that may act as references for the other books. For the base Game I also think itâd be cool if the Board was double sided and included Fever Swamp as an alternative location, with maybe a greenhouse and farm added to it.
Dice:
There would be at least to sets of Dice, one for movement and the other for actions. Both would be used fairly frequently. The movement dice are standard numbered dice, but I think the action dice would have Halloween Iconography like skulls, spiders, and snakes printed on them.Â
Characters
The Base Game would be based on the Classic GB run, and while you can only play half of them at the minimum you actually have Eight options for either side you want to play: so in total there are 16 character options for the base game. IDK if we can afford miniatures, but other GB games used Die-cut Game Board pieces and I think those would work the best.
For the Base game characters I still had a hard time and had to make major cuts(which Iâll try to amend a bit later as youâll see), but I think the options I provided offer a decent selection based on how GB itself has marketed itâs characters in the past.
Below Iâll list the character and the reason I picked them.
The Protagonists:
1. Carly Beth Caldwell: Of all GB protags sheâs the one everyone remembers, and the one almost everyone likes. Mask or no Mask, I think sheâs the only protag that can rival slappy as an iconic character.
2. Lucy Dark: An example of why I didnât go with âKids vs Monsters,â I think her twist is fairly cool and makes her memorable enough that she fits in well with the other base game characters.Â
3. Andy from Monster Blood: 1. Monster Blood is a Legacy book with so many sequels they need some representation. 2. I think itâd be funny to snub Evan for Andy. and 3. I want to make her breaking and entering skills a game mechanic.
4. Margaret Brewer: A fairly interesting protag in her own right, I think sheâd make a great fit for the cast.
5. Grady Tucker: While Will is more of an icon, as Iâll explain in his section, I also realized that Andy & Sara-Beth, Margaret & the Brewer Clone, were felt lopsided. And since Fever Swamp is a probable map, itâs been revisited as a comic, and GB is ALL about werewolves. Why not. He and Will complete the Protag/Antag pair trifecta.
6. Jack Johnson: A surprise pick but I think we need to recognize some books that never got much attention from the original run. And he can fly, so why shouldnât he be here?
7. Hannah Fairchild: Dead but still kicking, now thereâs an even split between âNormalâ Human GB protags and those that have something up with their physiology. The âDead all alongâ twist is classic, and she even got a fairly major role in the movie so she feels appropriate for this roster.
8. Zeke Matthews: To make Andy feel more comfortable, hereâs another GB best friend! Especially since the GB Musical is a thing.
The Antagonists:
1. Slappy the Dummy: Duh. Even before he stole Curlyâs job he was a major icon so of course heâs in the base game.
2. Compton Dawes: I mean, his town is the base game map so I think we need some Dead House Representation. He also fills both the undead and âadult hiding somethingâ category of our antags.
3. Sara-Beth from Monster Blood: Surprise! We needed a witch, and a female antagonist, and again, the Monster Blood books have so many damn sequels in the original run alone. She also has more of a personality than the Monster Blood, since that goop works better as an obstacle/item.
4. Dr. Brewerâs Plant Clone: Sootb is another Legacy book, and the villain is so unique I think itâd be a crime not to include him.
5. Will Blake: GB loves itâs werewolves and Fever Swamp, he got his own scene in the movie and his swamp is a map. Even before the movie whenever they made art for iconic monsters they included a werewolf.
6. A Beast from the East: Their design is fairly iconic, and they love games, I feel like they are too perfect not to include.
7. Lawn Gnomes: GB just loves them, but I also picked them for having a pretty sick game mechanic in mind for them.Â
8. Ricky Beamer: Whatâs this? but isnât he? Yep, he was a Protag but with his twist I think any material that includes him Post-creepification has to acknowledge the fact that he went to the dark side like the nerd he is. And since weâre basing this off the classic books, the Horrortown version is kinda moot.Â
Items:
As you traverse the map you have to land on certain species, often at landmarks and what-not, to search for items in a pre-shuffled deck. You can hoard them for later use, but each item has their own mechanic. This is because the items can include things like the Haunted Mask, Spideyâs Camera, Monster Blood, The Cuckoo Clock of Doom, and even items from non-classic GB books like the Purple Peanut Butter and a Gronk. You must use these items to reach the conclusion, often dependent on what game mode youâre playing.
Twists!:
Land on a certain space, or roll a six at any point with the movement dice, and you must draw from the Twist deck and suffer the consequences of the twist. They either punish you directly, or offer different outcomes by letting you roll the action dice. Twists include finding a Blob writing your story, getting body swapped with a Bee, and even getting old by eating the wrong cookies.
Core Mechanics:
- There is a life system, where Monsters have âlife pointsâ and the protags have âWill Powerâ that work identically. The monsters are Dead/Disposed when their health is zero, while the Protags in game are considered âimmobilized in frightâ if their will power hits zero.
- You move across the map, collecting items and hoping to avoid the Twists around every corner. But how you win is dependent on what rules you play.
- One mode, where each player can only pick a character from one side(either all Antagonists or All Protags), forces everyone to play an escape game where there are 31 turns(not rounds) to complete a goal, and if the goal isnât reached by then everyone loses.Â
- Another mode, Protags vs antags, has the Protags finding âBooksâ and certain equipment to enchant the books to capture the Antagonists in reference to the movie.
- Or you can just go all out and collect items to try and attack everyone until youâre the last one standing.Â
- You can engage with other players in 1v1s, either forcing them into fighting with certain cards or having both players agree to fight. Every character has the option to retreat but any life/will they lose cannot be regained once the dice have been rolled.
- Every character has a unique mechanic to them to spice up gameplay, based on whatever abilities or skills theyâve shown in their books. They are likely limited to one time uses, but there are twists and at least one item card that allow you a second chance to use your unique ability. Iâm also considering an âEnd Gameâ period, where all special abilities are nullified and everyone has to scramble to get to accomplish their goals.
I donât have all of them but:
- Andyâs skill in Breaking and Entering allows her to traverse the map more freely than others, especially if there are outside circumstances for why movement is restricted.
- Sara-Beth manipulates monster blood, presented by Die-cut tokens of it, and places them like traps around the map to complicate movement.
- Brewer can regenerate to regain health.
- If Margaret has an item that can be used as a weapon, she doubles any damage she rolls when using it. She can only do this to one weapon.
- Carly Beth is called something like âSymbol of Loveâ and any âevil itemâ she uses for three turns, as items like the Haunted Mask and Camera can have consequences if used to much or used at all, has itâs negative effects nullified.
- The Gnome starts off as a single being but can multiply into three gnomes, each having their own turn for three rounds. They work like three characters played by one player, but the two extra gnomes will vanish once the third round is spent. As a bonus, as itâs expected for you to spread out your gnomes, you can choose which gnome(if the place theyâre at is favorable to you) remains on the board.
- Ricky can turn someone into a creep with a cookie, and control one other playerâs character for three turns. However, while he can swap items he gets with this character, is safe from any damage sustained while playing this character, and can even play his own turns alongside them, the character will eventually break free and even if Ricky gets a second chance to use his ability, he cannot use it on the same person twice. Also he still has to worry about his own skin, unless itâs a two player game he has other players to worry about.
Expansions!:
I also have ideas to expand the game, without doing a sequel or whatever.
Horrorland Expansion -
New Map!: Horrorland/Panic Park - This Map is smaller, with the gimmick being if a Mirror is found, everyone has to switch on which side of the map theyâre on.
New Characters: There would be eight in total(4/4 split) but Iâm not 100% sure of my choices so I might take recomendations here.
- One or maybe even both of the Martin siblings, since Horrorland was THEIR book.
- Johnathan Chiller here to hunt children again.
- Byron for Horror Rep
- Maybe Murder the Clown since the GB brand is weirdly trying to squeeze him into their icons like he was always there.
2000s ExpansionÂ
New Map!: Suburbia, but under the invasion of the Body Squeezers. At one point everyone will enter the ship which constitutes as the other side of the map. Another smaller map, however the halfway point leads to the players all being âabductedâ and taken to the other side of the map. Â
- All characters here come from the 2000s Series.
- I am open to suggestions for Protags.Â
- For the Antagonists I picked: A Body Squeezer(duh), Mrs. Maargh, Mary Ellen, and The Haunted Car.
Icon Expansion-
 - No map, just more characters to play! I did mention having to make some hard cuts before.
I am very torn over my fever swamp sequel fic because I started it with the idea that itâs a sequel AND that it would connect to my gran GB universe in the future pancrossover fic, but itâs become even more of a sequel than expected.
I can probably still make it work, but I also have ideas of a new direction to take Will and Grady since the sequel fic is my blatant Will propaganda and itâs meant to be him after the events of the first book happened.
But, what if Grady and Will met as teenagers instead of kids?Â
I basically divide GB protags in two groups:
1. Books happened and they lived through it before the events of the fic
2. Due to their change in location their stories are re-invented, following close enough to the original but being majorly different due to their teenager brains and the overarching plot of the fic.
For instance, the events of the books for the now Adult protags are more or less the exact same, but while Calling all Creeps and The Haunted School still happen, they are majorly different due to certain characters either having different childhoods or straight up not existing.
The ficâs town already has a swamp, since Iâm including Courtney King and her story, so I do have the option of making two different takes on the Fever Swamp story, but I put too many good tidbits in my fic to leave it cut off from my future one.
see the werewolf petting zoo in horrorland is a toughie because Horrorland is canonically racist towards werewolves, enough so that they are genuinely pleasant to the guests for the most part before shifting. But the petting zoo was definitely the parkâs idea and most of the werewolves there protest it, but it is almost always full.
if youâre a cubâs parent you get side eyed because youâre the werewolf version of a family vlogger.
if youâre a whole adult everyone knows youâre a freaky dog who definitely has a thing for humans.Â
So like, Evan and Andy are as weird as always. Andy isnât allowed outside the house anymore, though that doesnât mean her parents are also in that house any longer than they usually are. So she just opens the window and lets Evan slink in to do a podcast about weird biology things they google and make lame jokes about. They talk about things that happen to them and in their supernatural magnet town and their viewers think theyâre like infowars for people who drink Monster Energy Drink.
Evan is orange tinted, so he isnât beating the redhead allegations. His body is now 80% fluid as a slowly progressing result of that time he drank any concoction his middle school aged cousin made to counteract the monster blood. Good news! Monster Blood now has no affect on him, his slime interacts with it like oil and water. Bad News! He has no skin.Â
