“Finally somebody said it.” Noelle laughed. Of course being healthy was the most important, but 2007 Britney was just so good Noelle missed it all the time. “I get that.. I just don’t really like it when it’s my drama they’re always living for. Like let me have a night off.”

“She used to be so good, and now it just seems like she’s... lifeless?” He offered it up as a question instead of a statement. “Don’t get me wrong, I’ll forever love her, but I think it’s just sad how downhill things have gone. I’ll still buy all her music, but nothing beats oldschool.” He chuckled, shaking his head humorlessly. “It’s stupid that they have no boundaries. I once watched them follow someone into a public bathroom. Like seriously?”

Logan rolled his eyes at the story. Or, rather, the children in it. “There’s a difference between opportunists and leeches. Those kids would be the latter. It’s ridiculous.” A condescending snort made for them as well came. On the shift back to food, he held a thumps up sign. “I always keep everythin’ stocked. Of course, high demand, even I can run out from time to time. Best advice I can give is come sooner rather than later.”

“Exactly.” Wes was well acquainted with both, unfortunately. “Luckily I’m not as meek as I used to be and had no problem telling them to... uh, get lost. With more expletives.” He made a face. “I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve been looking for a new place so as long as you don’t mind people coming on their own and looking far too absorbed in work from time to time, I’m sold.”

“Oh man I can imagine! Those people are bad ass I swear, poor clowns don’t stand a chance”. She said with a laugh. She shook her head “no not really, not on my end anyway. Just been auditioning for plays and such. Normal shit”. She told him with a shrug “sorry”

Wes let out an overdramatic groan, laughing at his friend. “Honestly Grace, I go to you to keep me in the know about all the coolest things happening around here, I’m let down.” He grinned. “What plays, then? That’s interesting at least, right?”

“Yeah, I still haven’t switched from Hungarian. But I love my roots and I love the country I’m from, so I think that keeps the accent as well,” she gave a small nod in thought. “Exactly. So, I kind of just don’t care much about her. My nanny did most of the work, anyway, so it wasn’t like she was a huge part of my life. My nanny was my mom,” Tori shrugged in thought. “They are. And It’s good to see. Makes it a little easier at times.”

“It’s a good thing to be proud of where you’re from, I think. I’ve spent a lot of time in Kuala Lumpur luckily under the radar, so I’m happy to have that background. Maybe not so much the American right now, but it’s good.” He chuckled. “I think we were all raised by nannies at one point. I know mine definitely cared more about me than my mom most times.” He sighed, shaking his head. “Hopefully, this entire nightmare will end soon. I’m crossing my fingers for that.”

“God, if they can’t then we’ve got to find a whole new different island to escape to. But, if the cute guys there can dance and go and get me fresh coconuts every morning then I might let you go off on your own,” she laughed. 

“So now we’re involving coconuts in this escapade?” Wes questioned with a raised eyebrow. “Shit, you should have said so sooner. Where else do they grow where hot people and pristine beaches are a given? Turks and Caicos? Aruba? Take your pick, captain. I’ll even pay.”

“I can’t just ban her with no reason,” Asher said through a laugh. “Though that is a tempting offer.” He glanced up as if in thought for a moment. “I’ll just delete the channel for a few days. Unsub, or whatever.” He grinned. “Always going big, do you even know me?”

“You’re the dad, you can basically do whatever you want.” Wes observed with a raised eyebrow. “That’s a smarter idea. Or you can just tell her that you need  abreak from TV and that you want to do something better instead. Color, dress up, whatever you can find as a distraction. It works with my friend’s babies.” He shrugged.

“Excuse me, but did you just say parrots? As in those brightly coloured birds? Like the ones on the Fruit Loops box?” Xy asked incredulously with a laugh bubbling up from her lips. “Well,” she began, thinking about her mother and the absolutely insane requests and expectations she had for her, “yes, absolutely. I’m sure they have our best interests in mind and all that, but they’re intense. And now my sister is just as crazy with her daughter.” 

“Those things live in the wild somewhere, right?” Wes teased with a chuckle. He didn’t really know much about animals or wildlife, in all fairness, but it wouldn’t be too out of the realm of possibilities. “I don’t have the energy for responsibilities right now,” he confessed with a careless shrug. “The only thing I want to think about is what the best drink is and whether or not the cute girls on the beach can dance.”

Laughter of his own came up. “Ya aren’t wrong on that one. They’ve always been intimidated by me, but it’s only because I’m tall, athletic, always popular with, well, everyone.” His tone, while slightly arrogant, was merely a very brief glace of his school days. “Spice, my friend, is what makes it all worth while. If that’s what you’re lookin’ for ya should try our chocolate lava cake. We add some fresh grown chili powder along with some other warmer spices like nutmeg to balance it out but it adds a nice heat on the back of your tongue.”

He chuckled. “Hey, be proud of that. I was the geek whose ass everyone wanted to kick until they discovered I had money. Then they, of course, wanted me to be their friend so I could buy them all XBoxes or some shit.” He rolled his eyes. “Definitely taking that recommendation.” He grinned. “I hope you bought that stuff in bulk because if it’s good, I’m coming for all of it.”

Yeah her modeling had made her more famous, but she had already been in the put in the public eye she didn’t realize how different it could be. “I’m already much more boring than I already was. People want me to pull a Britney.I can’t win.”

Wes nodded in understanding, shaking his head. “To be fair, I think Britney’s gotten boring again too,” he teased, and shrugged. “I think they just live for the drama. I don’t think so much about it bothering adults, but it grosses me out how they even target kids now too.”

“Oh, don’t worry. I’m an asshole. Kind of a geek. I don’t really admit that part,” she shrugged as she looked at him. “I used to get teased because of my accent, so honestly, I wouldn’t have minded being the kid everyone else hated. I was just the kid with the funny accent.” Tori sighed as she pushed her hair out of her face. “Yeah, my mom isn’t like that. At all. She’s a bitch who only cares about herself. We don’t talk because she doesn’t care about me.” The brunette gave a smile, shrugging. “I mean, they could always do better, considering the situation, you know, but they are pretty strong kids for what’s going on right now.”

“That was me too until mine faded. My mom had a good deal to do with that,” Wes shook his head with a sigh. “I went from Malaysian to American really fast after that.” He tilted his head as she spoke and then scoffed. “Parents who don’t care about their children aren’t worth the time. You clearly have much more important things to be doing with your life than wasting your time on someone like that anyway - parent or not.” The concept was a foreign one to Wes, but he got it, on some level. “I’m happy so many of them are strong. I’m glad so many parents are fucking determined, too. That’s what they deserve.”

Grace burst out laughing “I’m positive a clown wouldn’t last long in prison!” She blurred out. “Oh hell yeah! That’s right!” She exclaimed. “Okay yeah that’s true”. She replied

Or people would smuggle shit in them.” He chuckled and shook his head, because really, it wasn’t out of the realm of possibilities. “So, oh interesting one, tell me what you’ve been doing lately. Any hot gossip?” Wes was mostly teasing, but he couldn’t help himself.

“Not even a clown?” he offered with a grin. “I think interesting is a good label to have. It definitely beats being boring, right?” He shrugged, nonchalantly. “Of course. You should know I don’t waste my time talking to people who don’t interest me. And I hate small talk.”

“Parental locks exist for a reason, bud,” Wes said, chuckling. “Just tell her she’s banned from watching it, it’ll make your life a lot easier for a while.” He smirked, and wandered over to fetch his friend a drink. “We going big or going home?”

“That seems like an unfortunate side effect of being famous,” Wes observed, shrugging his shoulders. He was well acquainted with how horrible the media could be. They’d hounded him endlessly about his father in the past, after all. “You could always try being so boring they stop giving a shit?” he suggested with a wry smile. “or pull a full on Britney.”

“Theoretically yes,” Xyla agreed, nodding her head but scrunching her eyebrows together in thought. “All we’d need to do is hide out there for the rest of our lives and hope that nobody finds us. Oh an hope that we don’t get tired of each other, although I’m fairly certain that would happen. What else would we do with the 60 years we’ve got left to live?” she continued, nudging him lightly. Although it would be a dream to waste away on a beach with Wesley, she was absolutely certain they’d nearly rip each other heads off at some point during their years on the run. It was inevitable. “Maybe you need a reminder to wash your underwear,” she teased, although completely understanding the nagging he was talking about. She just knew it in the form of her older sister. “Couldn’t you just give her more money so she stops? Like, ‘hey mom, heres an extra 500$, now stop texting me.’”

Wes wrinkled his nose at the mention of hiding out because hoo boy, been there done that. He chuckled and shrugged. “I get sick of myself after being alone for too long, so I feel like we’d probably kill each other Survivor style and end up like Castaway but with civilization.” He made a face. “We’ll have to bring extra people with us, and that defeats the purpose.” He flipped her off after a moment, smirking. “I guess. It does feel kind of like a bribe though, and all I can hear now is my dad lecturing me in my head about how I should be nice to her because if not, parrots will eat me. Are all Asian parents that terrifying?”

Wes cringed a little at the thought. “Truth. Hard Rock Cafe is tacky as fuck, you definitely don’t want to be recreating any of that. What amount of people are we talking? A crazy amount? Maybe you can go with something off what lameasses will and won’t be there.”

“I’d be a great prisoner!” Wes defended, grinning wider at Grace and shaking his head. “Actually you’re right, I’m total shit at anyone telling me what to do. No wonder my mom called me a nightmare child.” He rolled his eyes, leaning into his hand. “I beg to differ. I think you’re interesting enough.”
