starter delivery for big bro bro @weslacroix
Bella was nervous to say the least. She had been confiding in her family for so long and she was lucky for that, she knew it. She had Maddox, Gemma, Juliet, Finn, Eli all by her side and it felt amazing to finally have some control over herself. She had been sober for about a week and a half, going to meetings and while it was hard, she knew it was good for her. She hadnât shared yet in any of the meetings, just sat and listened and what she heard was what made her feel so connected to these people. They all had tragic lives, ruined by their addictions and Bella could relate to all of that. She could sit and listen to them for hours â she just was afraid to share and open up about herself. These people came from the depths of hell and Bella? Bella came from a wealthy, perfect family and she didnât want to be known as poor little rich girl, because that was the furthest from who she was. She lived in squallers, rat infested apartments since then, never had an expensive taste, but people could judge.Â
All of that didnât matter though â they were strangers. Wes was family.Â
She knew she should have told him, and everyone had told her she should, but she couldnât bring herself to. Wes was so important to her, her hero in so many ways. He was a badass, kickass detective and since the Micah thing, the attack, Wes had been rightfully busy and she never wanted him to worry about her. There was so much that needed to be said.Â
When she heard the doorbell to her new apartment ring, she gathered herself, actually looking nice for once, instead of her haggard, messy appearance of red eyes, Â and opened the door.Â
âYou asshole! How dare you knock! You should come right the fuck in!â The little brunette exclaimed, jumping into his arms and hugging him. It had been a while since they had met up, just the two of them. Bella was happy for that, to see him. âCome in, bro. This place doesnât actually have rats or anything, so you donât have to get a fucking tetanus shot after this.âÂ
He hadnât been at his best as of late. He could admit to that. He hadnât been the best version of himself. He hadnât been the best cousin. He hadnât been the best brother. Leaving like he had, ditching them all when they needed him the most was wrong. He knew that. He understood that. What he needed them to understand though was that he didnât take tragedy well. He didnât take loss easily. While many could argue that his cousin Scarlett had been forced to endure the most when it came to the attack and while Wes wouldnât necessarily argue with them, Scarlett had also not been forced to endure loss before. She hadnât been forced to watch as someone she gave a damn about went down right in front of them again and again and again while being absolutely powerless to do anything about it. Whereas she hadnât been forced to deal with such a thing before the attack, Wes had.
Unlike her, he had experienced loss before. He had experienced how powerless, how insignificant, and how crushing a loss could be to ones mental state. He had been forced to watch as the people he called friends, the very people he considered family fell right in front of him. He in no means wanted to make her tragedy about himself but he had been forced to attend funerals of those he cared dearly for before, been forced to look their family in the eye as he expressed his condolences all the while knowing that in some way, or some form he should have been able to save them. He should have been able to help them. He knew how fucked it was to have to do it and despite it being his own aunts funeral heâd be forced to attend this time, he couldnât stand to do it again. Just thinking about it alone manged to bring him to knees, scrambling over himself for the nearest bottle in an attempt to drown out the memories it brought back. He didnât take loss well and so he had left. He couldnât do it again. Couldnât bare to be forced to deal again.
So yeah, when they needed him the most, he hadnât been able to stay. He hadnât been able to suck it up and be the man they needed him to be but he was here now. He was trying to right that wrong heâd committed. Heâd started with Scarlett and now, with the opportunity having presented itself, he was going to do the same with the young woman who considered him her hero. Bouncing from foot to foot as he waited for his sister to open the door, nerves showing in his restlessness and inability to stay still though he knew his sister probably believed heâd been simply too busy to bother with her the past month and change and despite knowing letting her continue to believe that would be the easier option, he planned to tell her truth. She deserved to know the truth. He had run. He had fucked up. The fact that he wasnât as perfect as he would lead her to believe wasnât something he wanted to hide.
Waiting for the young woman to open the door only for him to pull her into his arms the moment she did so, smile practically bursting on his face as he held her just as tightly as she held him, believing it to be minute when it was a mere beat later he pulled back enough to regard her. She looked better. Healthier. Obviously the change in environment was doing her good. âThank god for that. Howâd you afford this place? You finally working? Or did you ask Scar for help like Iâve been telling you to do?â
scarlettlacroix:
As of late Scarlettâs home felt like a place she dreaded returning to. It no longer signified the brand new life sheâd been trying to build for herself away from Los Angeles, but the start of where it all began to fall apart. It was stupid really but a part of her couldnât help but think that perhaps if she hadnât returned to Atlanta and bonded with Wes. That, maybe, just maybe her mother and brother would have had no reason to attend the Police Ball but it was a ridiculous notion. Regardless of her ex-bond with her cousin, the Lacroixâs would have gone to support Weston that night. Even when they were at each otherâs throats James and William were always present at important moments in each otherâs families lives. With or without Scarlett they would have been there, they would have gotten hurt. More the hurt.Â
One was dead and the otherâŠâŠ.she couldnât think about it. Refused to think about it actually.
But being home only made her think of it more. A realization that dawned on Scarlett only recently and forced the actress to spend the last week avoiding her home and crashing with whatever friend she fancied. In fact, her sole reason for returning had been to pack a new set of clothes but her quick trip was sidetracked the moment hazel hues fell on the man asleep on her couch. Under normal circumstances, seeing Wes passed out in front of the TV was nothing new but considering itâd been almost a month since sheâd last seen her roommate and cousin, it was more than a reason for pause. Though her shock hardly lasted long, the familiar rush of anger filling her veins as she reached for the half-finished glass of water on the table to dump over him. âGood morning sunshine, can I get you anything? OJ? Cereal? Directions to get the hell out of my place?â
Maybe he deserved that too. Jerking awake as the water hit his face, rather than jump up and curse out the one who did it, Weston already knowing his loving cousin was the one behind the rude awakening even before she greeted him in such a cheerful way simply quelled down his anger before pulling himself up into a sitting position on the couch. Patting the wet space beside him as he wiped the water from his eyes, he mustered up what he thought looked to be a cheerful smile. âGood to see you again, Scarlett. Missed you too. Iâve been good, you know, a little off but decent in all. Best I could hope for given the circumstances. No, no, no need to thank me for that night. I only did what any loving cousin would do for his starlet cousin. Never need a thanks or anything for that.â Sarcasm coating his words as he held a conversation with himself, knowing that despite how much heâd like for them to have a civil grown up conversation about this, he knew his cousin wasnât about to hear anything he had to say without him first apologizing and explaining himself.  âIâm not trying to have some sarcastic bullshit conversation with you, Scar. Iâm sorry. Iâm sorry for leaving like that, Iâm sorry for what happened to Micah, Iâm sorry for what happened to you mom - my aunt. I never wanted any of that to happen and I sure as hell never meant to just up and leave and uh,â Struggling to get out the word abandon, struggling to explain that he just hadnât been able to handle what had happened, he instead just fell silent knowing there was nothing he could say to really make things better or to even explain just why he had left like he had.Â
jessicamcrgan:
They two honestly didnât have the best relationship with one another. When it came to working, Jess took things seriously, but Weston had gotten paired with her at a point where she couldnât deal with another partner. However, with all the aside, and all the times the two had butt heads, she couldnât bring herself to not care about Westonâs situation now. Especially considering the fact that she understood what it was like to go off the rails. Losing someone wasnât easy, so she felt like everything Weston had done was justified. âHey, Iâm not gonna let him throw you in therapy, okay? Heâs just⊠overwhelmed and you leaving out of nowhere upset him. I can see why heâs mad, but I will calm him down and make sure you donât have to deal with that.â With sympathetic eyes, the brunette stepped forward and rested her hand on his shoulder. âNot at all. It was nice not have you around, actually. Peaceful.â A joke, of course. âRealy talk, though⊠I donât blame you for what you did. Life got tough, you did what any normal person wouldâve done. You ran from it and thatâs okay. Who am I to get mad at you?â
Yep. He had to have really shit the bed for her to be going this hard to comfort him, either that or what the media was saying about Micah was worse than he initially believed. It made no sense for her to be even trying to comfort him otherwise. Cause this? They didnât do this. They made snippy remarks at each other, they had each otherâs backs while on the field, and they worked well enough together but this whole emotional support thing? That wasnât something they did. Her comforting him? Offering emotional support or even trying to breach a conversation with him where one of them admitted to having any sort of feelings? Not them. It was one of things that helped endear the woman to him. Day in and day out, he played the role as the emotion support for just about every woman in his life. When you needed someone to talk to? He was there. When you wanted to bitch about this and that, he was there. Not having to be that way with Mor- Jessica, was a relief. For her to even be trying to breach this conversation with him was telling. âYeah.â Mistaking her gaze as that of pity, he avoided meeting her eyes as he uttered the single word. âThanks.â Not forgetting his manners even as the conversation reduced him to monosyllables, though he appreciated her attempt at humor that followed he could only manage up a fake light laugh before nodding his head. âI dunno but um-â Lips smacking as he spoke, he tried to move on to safer topics. âHeard you finished up the case. Wanna tell me that heroic tale? Howâd that go down?âÂ
TEXT MESSAGE â· WES.

BELLA: Yo, douchebag! We need to fucking talk.
BELLA: Take a break from being Olivia fucking Benson for one second and come over to my apartment, ASAP.
Wes: How about we try that again, Bels?
Wes: Maybe act like you're talking to the brother you haven't heard from in like a month or so and would really appreciate it if you greeted him in a nice kind fashion?

Everything that had happened with Weston was something Jess knew she couldnât hold against him. After the fiasco at the ball, he had every right to fall off the grid and get completely lost in whatever he felt like. His family was a target that night and if the roles were reversed, there was a high chance sheâd be walking down the same path he had. But upon coming back to Atlanta, Jessica knew what was in store for not just her, but him too. No matter how much good a cop couldâve done, their life couldâve been stolen due to one bad mistakeâa mistake that was honestly justifiable in this case. And as she moved deeper into the room, watching as Westonâs voice rose louder and louder into the phone, she couldnât help but sigh out of disappointment. It wasnât Wes she was disappointed in, though. It was the captain on the other end, who was making all the wrong choices when it came to Wes. Once the line was severed and the phone was crashing to the table, Jess stepped in. âMaybe I can talk to him.â Not that she had much power in the force anymore. It was her first day back in Atlanta and she hadnât told anyone what was going on just yet. âYou know how he can be⊠irrational and borderline psychotic pretty much cover it when describing that guy.â They were all pretty much hardasses, though. Had to be in this line of work. âSorry, didnât really mean to eavesdrop. Couldnât help, though. Heâll have to come around becauseâŠÂ throwing you in therapy? Honestly, if every cop that wigged out for a bit had to go to therapy, weâd all end up in straight jackets.âÂ
He really must have been in a bad position if Morgan of all people was attempting to comfort him. Lifting his gaze to meet hers as she finally made herself known, whilst he would have usually snapped over someone attempting to come to his rescue like she was, in this particular case he was all for it. Therapy wasnât an issue. Talking about his problems wasnât an option. He didnât seek help. While he was self aware enough to know he probably sorta needed it, it wasnât something he wanted nevertheless. âGo for it. Tell him you got some new case and need me back or something, I donât really care. Just uh-â Trailing off there, he made a motion of her going with his hands. âGo with it. I just canât do therapy, Morg. Seriously, not happening here.â And he meant that. If therapy was a requirement for him to go back to work then he wasnât going back. It was as simple as that for him. Sighting before reaching across the table to snatch up his phone, he gestured for his partner to take the seat across from him. âSo whatâs up with you? You mad at me for dipping too?â

âThere is nothing wrong with planning a wedding with a video game character. Câmon, you have to had done it yourself! Who was it? Tell me!â
âUh-â Clamping his mouth shut as quick as he had opened it, keeping himself from saying something mean just then hadnât been easy. He had never done that. Ever. However, for him video game characters had basically just been two dimensional blocks of color which weirdly enough werenât exact hot. âCanât say I have, dude. Tifa, Rinoa and the rest of the final fantasy girls were decent enough but since realistic graphics werenât really a thing then, they werenât on my mind like that.âÂ
arielle-chambers:
âIts been so hot today and Iâve been running errands, please forgive the messy looks of me, â Arielle apologized with a polite smile.
With his own shirt soaked though with sweat from his run and his hair tousled and in desperate need of a trim, he wasnât about to judge anyone on how they looked in that moment. âNah, youâre great. No worries.â He replied, with a wave of his hand. âSeriously if anyone needs to apologize here, itâs me. Iâm just trying to cool off real quick before getting back out there. Promise youâll be able to take deep breaths again soon enough.âÂ
nathanxyoung:
âJesus Christ on a cracker, I need a drink,â Nathan huffed, the tamed down curse heâd been using around his daughters a habit now. âIs it a full moon? Because the idiots are out in force. Theyâre everywhere. Are you coming? Come on, Iâll buy you a drink. Iâm buying you a drink.â
Mouthing the manâs words in confusion as heâd yet in his twenty eight soon to be twenty nine years of life heard a fellow adult tone down their language when a child wasnât even present could only roll his eyes in faux exasperation before nodding his head along in agreement. âYeah.â A drink was most definitely needed. âHow about we make it two drinks though? Three? You know, because of all the annoying idiots?âÂ
lxramontgomery:
Leaning over to the person closest to her once she checked the time for the hundredth time, Lara asked, ââhow long do you think a girl should wait before she realises sheâs been stood up?â
âTwo minutes? One? I mean, if the dude was interested he would have shown up on time. Being late to a date isnât about to win you any points so yeah, dudes either on time if heâs interested or if heâs a minute off heâs either blowing you off or just a bum.â While he wasnât the type of guy that should be handing out advice to anyone, from personal experience, he at least felt he could have a say on this. As the bum mentioned, he knew a bit about this type of thing. âWhy the question? Some ass stood you up?âÂ
magdalenameniiav:
Mags breezed through the crowd, the tiny bug in her hand disappearing into the back pocket of the man sheâd brushed up against. It was a simple drop, so she was free to breathe. The woman approached the bar and leaned against it, smiling as the person next to her. âEnjoying yourself?â
âIs any of this on you? Cause if so, I damn sure am.â Briefly turning from the woman, he pointed out the various bottles the bartender had yet to clear from in front of him. âWhat about you? Having fun?âÂ
