Never going back from Greater
In the book of 1 Kings 19, we find that Elijah, having recovered from a season of depression, is now looking for Elisha whom God has called to be the next prophet to the nations. Elisha, who has been living all his life at the back of a plow staring up oxen bums, doesn't even know that somewhere God was already talking to someone about his calling. In fact, he is unaware that THIS particular word of God is about to call him out of his job, family, friends, community and everything he has ever built for his life. After having Elijah throw the mantel onto him, he requests a return before the final journey - not due to second thoughts, but to secure his one focus. Killing the oxen and burning his plow screamed: I'm NEVER going Back!
The sad truth is that often people who want to pursue God have one hand on their dreams, and one hand on the plow - because there's always an option to turn back. There's always an option to give up your dream because you can always say: 'well I knew I was never cut out for it' or 'well I can just shrink back to earning enough and getting through in life'.Â
We often mistake the first step to 'doing greater things for God' is to have a clear cut vision of what is to come, to know the next steps of influence. But truly, the first greatest act of faith, is to BURN YOUR PLOW and say - I'll NEVER go back to the way I was or to a life lesser than the true me.Â
Image: Learn how to erase what you want to leave behind
This might mean you need to burn some things (literally?), stop saying negative words like - oh well I don't want to get my hopes too high on myself, or to stop denying your gifts when others point them out to you. Once you say you'll never let yourself near these things that represent your plow, you'll start learning to pave your way into a God given future!
To learn more about this, listen to Steven Furtick's podcast - Greater: Burning the PlowÂ
The devil would rather you preach to the masses, feed all the hungry and plant a thousand churches than spend one moment in the secret place. For he knows that without encounter, none of your noble deeds will ever bear lasting fruit - but that just one moment in His presence is enough to birth a history-maker. Do not be deceived - the greatest battle of the Christian walk is not for greatness, but for intimacy.

A beautiful place like this didn't just happen by accident. God is truly such an artist. Greater and more creative than you ever thought Him to be. -pix of Hamilton Pool Natural Preserve, Texas

Love is simple: Give and Forgive <3
Is yours?
Jesus’ blood washes me clean, pure as snow He has made me (see Isaiah 1:18). There is power in the blood of Jesus who makes all things new, from your scarlet past of shame, doubt and fear to a future as pure as snow; free, joyful and truly You :)
You Are the one the God has chosen to fulfil the dream He has placed inside of you. And so we were reminded at another amazing summer urban life 2013! If God is calling greatness out of us, it is a sure sign that greatness actually exists inside of us!
Time to take flight, time to move on...

You are Special; You are part of the Body
In the bible Paul talks about how a body is not made of one part, but of Many parts. He also adds that this is how the Body of Christ is, and that this in turn reflects the structure of the Church (see 1 Corinthians 12). Unlike military ranks or classrooms, an additional member to the church is not simply an increase in number ;a plus 1. It is, metaphorically, like attaching a limb to or placing an organ into a body which prior to this addition, required the body to function at a height and pace lower than its maker's original intention.
Schools didn't teach us about 'Spiritual Anatomy', so here's our lesson 101. Ask God: "what part of the body was I made to be?" and therein will lie your gifts and effective acts of service.Â
If this has gone unanswered for you - please don't worry you're not gift-less, you just haven't figured it out yet. This time ask yourself: What can you do...do well, do to bless others, and have been doing all this while? Don't kid yourself, you have been 'gifted' specially by God. It usually comes under the disguise of labels like 'knack, interest, hobby'. Remember you're just a seed, you'll just have to water it by faith (by activating it believing it will bless others) and God will make it grow (see 1 Corinthians 3:7).
I hope this little image I created (recognize Gingy?) will help reveal the true purpose behind your ability to do certain things - 'knack, interest, hobby etc.' - that you'll recognize the Truth of how you were Made to be an essential member of the Body of Christ; your local church. Remember, you are Building Your Church as God Himself had always envisioned it and He is trusting Us to do it!Â
Dreaming of a Greater and more Impacting Church with Eyes Wide Open!
I pray because I can't help myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need flows out of me all the time- waking and sleeping. It doesn't change God- it changes me.

Opportunity is often dressed in overalls and look like work! Don’t (dis)miss it
A Seed has everything it needs to form a Tree. What you’re asking for to make a complete You is not ‘out there’; it’s not other people’s gifts. What you’re REALLY looking for, is already in You. So if God’s calling greatness out of you, it’s a sign that greatness has already been put inside of you. In His word He says we are treasures in an earthen vessel filled with the glory of God (see 2 Cor 4:7), so stop looking Out, start looking IN.
