ultimately kenjaku is forcing evolution onto japan because japan refuses to evolve on its own terms (toxic parent style lol). they can’t stand passivity or reclusiveness or stasis; tengen is the heart of modern sorcery and they themselves have become the ultimate figure of passivity with no earnest desire to remain human and no earnest desire to evolve, which has bled into modern sorcerers refusing to change, the higher ups rejecting modernity and clinging to a past they have no way of going back to, etc….. that’s why kenjaku’s motives can’t just be summed up as them trying to have fun, there’s a great sadness and disappointment there
